Avatar doubles Bluray sales record

Avatar Blu-ray Breaks Sales Records By Doubling Them - Avatar - Gizmodo

Quote:

The previous record for Blu-ray sales was held by The Dark Knight, but Avatar has come along and doubled it.

The Dark Knight set the first-day Blu-ray sales record of 600,000 back in 2008. Avatar sold 1.2 million copies on Tuesday. By Thursday that number had climbed to 2.7 million, surpassing The Dark Knight's 18 month sales total of 2.5 million. And keep in mind that these are sales of the bare-bones edition. We still haven't seen the deluxe or 3D editions.
:D

Great news! ^^ Im not surprised at all actually! The marketing for the BD/DVD release has been pretty crazy here in sweden. Almost every ad for new LCD TVs and similar has also included Avatar in some way!

Owned!

Only a bit of a surprise to me, I knew it would sell well but I didn't expect it to break the first-month-sales record in two days!

I'm pumped to receive my copy :)

It's rather amusing to see this, but it's no surprise. Avatar, and James Cameron, do not merely set new records, they completely rewrite the standards on which such records are based.

Doesn't surprise me. Avatar has re-written history. <33
Just had a synced viewing with a bunch of awesome people over skype! :D

That sound you just heard? It was James Cameron buying himself the country of Norway. Just a nice quiet vacation spot for him and his 82 supermodel girlfriends.
It kills me. When I was a brand new 2nd Lt in the Air Force back in 1977 and madly inspired by Star Wars, James Cameron was driving trucks.

It just goes to show that it's the inner fire, not the trappings of position or education that get you where you want to go....
