to continue the original subject of Alleycat's annoying rant. I saw this youtube video: YouTube - LITTLE GIRLS DANCING TO SINGLE LADIES (SICK WORLD). This is where some of it starts I think. The road to objectifying women. Yuk! What parent would allow their little girl dress and dance like this in public???

The dancing is good, perhaps a little mature for their age, but is there really any need for such outfits...or lack of. Indeed, if I were one of those girls parents, I would NEVER let her wear something like that and dance in front of people. |
Unfortunately (or rather, luckily) I couldn't watch the video because of copyright claims, but I can guess what it contained. Mainly becasue i've seen it all before.
To be quite frank, from what i've seen, although skilful, the dance moves performed in such videos they are immitating are far too inappropriate for young girls to be performing anyway, given that most of the videos for songs by artists like that are basically an "invitation" if you understand me. When did this happen? When did our society become so messed up that many consider people as just objects there to be used, when did young people start being told to act much older than they are, when did all the standards go completely out of the window...? it really, truly makes me feel sick to the pit of my stomach. |

Exactly. It is very disturbing for little girls to dance in an inviting way and dressed like they are in the video. What are their parents and dance instructor thinking? What ever happened to young children maintaining some form of innocence before they are bombarded with all this stuff as teenagers? It is so sad and disturbing. This is where the objectification of women and increased materialistic behavior comes from. They are being taught that all that matters is looking "good" although in this case, with those outfits....they are not looking good at all. In fact, it is very disturbing. If I ever have any children, Lord willing, and if they are girls...I will never allow any daughter of mine to dress this way or do this sort of stuff. I will teach them respect for themselves. We need to fight back. Our stupid society are telling people these kinds of messages all the time and it gets very tiresome but it is especially scary when they are aimed at the smallest of children. |
remember watching I Love Lucy? Lucy and (blast cant remember the guys name... Frank?) didn't even sleep in the same bed together on TV... now look at whats on TV during kids shows!
|
I won't lie those little girls were doin some dirty dancing but damn they were killin it! Lol
I agree, kids want to grow up so fast now and be like the people they see on tv. When no longer are these people good role models. A young girl shouldn't have to expose her body and dance sexually to be famous. Then there are the ones who just want the fame and money, lots of sad examples for life to look upon. |

i couldn't watch the video but i'm guessing it was for those contests.... like miss USA but for little girls? If so then I'm not suprised. There was an episode of Dr. Phil about mums pushing their girls to do inappropriate things just for these competitions and the kids didn't even know why they were doing it OR they said they did and said they enjoyed it but I'm sure they just said that to please their mums OR they have been brain washed. One girl, who was 12 or 13, did a photo shoot in a bikini. I don't know what age girls start to wear bikinis but 12/13 seems pretty young. the worst thig is she probably didn't even want to do it but her mum forced her to....... sad but true
