.... I played with Barbie dolls when I was little. D:
But I mean, I honestly didn't think about that sort of stuff. I also read somewhere a long time ago that Barbie dolls' measurements are like, unrealistic or something. Like she wouldn't actually be able to walk because she was too thin or something LOL.
I personally think that the Bratz dolls that are out are a horrible influence! I mean...they're called bratz. My little cousin has a ton of them and they look really weird too. Like all made up and just not a good influence for young girls at all.

I completely agree with you about the Bratz dolls. When I first saw them I was like, "What the????" lol Even the name is a terrible influence.

oh no I'm not offended at all!
I'm just coming at it from a different point of view.

Honestly, I never thought of the Barbie as a bad thing. I mean I understand where people come from and on some people I think it really can have an influence. Though there are times when I think people look to far into something.

For example Ive seen countless videos about how Disney is evil. Like they say the Orangutans in Jungle Book are portrayed as black people, that the princess' give out a false image to young girls and make them think they have to find prince charming, and more.

Im not saying Barbie is a good toy or bad, because I can honestly see both sides of the argument. However, I think as adults its easier to see the "bad" things in stuff, when I was a kid I dont ever remember thinking about things like Barbie or Disney as bad until people started mentioning it as we got older. It also has to do alot with the type of girl, some like going out and playing sports, some like playing with dolls.

Yuk, those terrible Bratz dolls. Didn't they take them off the market? I don't understand the need to market skanky dolls to little girls. Those are terrible and give bad messages to young girls.

well, i never played with barbie dolls (cos im a dude ) but even with power rangers and stuff, i was never interested. Although I did light one of my friend's power rangers on fire, he joined in as well :D I also remember going to another friend's house and together we would "simulate" earthquakes with his sister's doll house BWAHAHAHAHHAAA

But getting back on topic, I havn't been to Toys'R'Us in a long time so I wouldn't know what crap is being sold to kids these days but back when I was a kid there were heaps of ads for barbie and all her stuff like the house and the van and the pool.... or something. I understand why it would be seen as a bad image, it makes girls think "this is what I want to look like" and some may grow out of it, but some may stick with that thought and when they grow up and realize that becoming barbie is impossible, well that's when they get self esteem problems.

Well, I think barbie is nothing today because magazines are having a larger effect. And besides, I just don't get what's so interesting about dolls.

hmm this is tough.., everyone is coming up with a good argument.. its true about the Disney thing tho.. u dont think of it as bad until you get older :P its weird how u see things when you are older more soo.. i guess cause when you are a kid, you never really see these things :P i do have to say that these things can be bad alot of the time.. cause it wants to teach u things when you are kids so you become corrupted when ur older.. but not all of time... some people are smarter lol

and Dream, ok np :P

Ratavasidna 05-07-2010 04:22 PM

wow... im surprised i haven't read your rant eariler.... i agree completely

i dont even belive in looks XD, so you being against "fashion" and whatnot is awesome to me *high four*

allycat 05-07-2010 04:24 PM

hey Andi for coming into here!!
*high fours back* you rock dude! looks are nothing! its the inside that counts and not what u wear... haha its like fashion is slavery.. sorry Dream :( but i will never change my opinion about these things haha

Ratavasidna 05-07-2010 04:25 PM

Yaya! Im not alone!!!!

allycat 05-07-2010 04:30 PM

you're not :D alot of people agree with you !! :)

its just.. i know there are good people who believe in fashion and looks tho.. i just wish.. they could reconsider..i mean its not me to control their lives and tell them where to go, but i just wish they would realize it actually is slavery.. and its not a good thing :( once again i am sorry if im offending people.. but its how i feel.. and i find it to be completely true.. its actually kinda proven in a sense that it is.. even the Dove Self Esteem fund say that us we have something in the back of our minds that these people try to get to.. to almost brainwash us into thinking how we should look and dress.. etc.. its ACTUALLY true..

and i hope i don't get too off topic here, but this fashion issue isn't the only thing that is "brainwashing" us in these modern societies, there's a lot of other things, and they all seem to work together to get us into thinking this is the correct way of life, when in all honesty, it is just destroying people

Human No More 05-07-2010 04:36 PM

Yeah, that's true.

I haven't really seen what children are being sold these days either, but I do remember from when I was younger, I would guess nothing has changed.

aww!! that is not off topic! !its true! we ARE destroying ourselves!! slowly but surely! :'( we are all slaves of modern society... we all are being taught the wrong ways.. taught the wrong things.. people take things for granted.. and look what happens? humanity is meant to be cruel to each other.. i dont know why.. we could learn greatly from the Na'vi

HNM its probably worse now a days.. but still toys back then were still pretty corruptive.. depending on the toy :P
