Fate has dealt us a cruel hand.

There are so many wonderful people here and it destroys me to think that I will never meet most of you in person. So cruel that so many incredible and rich people who share such common interests will never encounter face-to-face, instead limited to mere text and still images. Everything that could ever be shared - All the love, all the posibilities, all the stories, music, joy, hapiness... all of it... gone.
And all because this world is just far too big.

It kills me inside. :'(

ZenitYerkes 05-03-2010 09:50 PM

And it kills my eyes, too...

Jokes apart, I also wonder how if everyone of us moved to a single place to party or go live in the wild, or just meet; I believe we would have a great time (I'd love to live-debate with Spock or Punk about politics and Woodsprite or Harvester about religion). Perhaps sharing some culture and ideas, or just gather in a room and watch Avatar in a big wide screen.

Just think in all the possibilities :)

A shame we can't meet unless we travel thousands and thousands of miles.

Well, there's always Skype...

I'm a little shy though. Maybe one day.

Try and be an optimist. I prefer to think of it this way.

We have been graced with the ability to reach out over thousands of kilometers and touch the lives of those that we would never have even known existed. Likewise many you will never meet in person are able to touch your life. Without it we would be isolated and have few if any like minded people to share our experiences.

That sounds better does it not?

It does sound better, but it still does not help what could be but may never be. :(

Hey, there's always Comicon! We could stage a posse and take over the place.... :D

Human No More 05-03-2010 11:35 PM

I know exactly what you mean... so many people here I want to meet... :'(

Txum_kali'weya 05-04-2010 12:11 AM

some of the people here i have a possibility of meeting, but i won't get to everyone.

Dreaming Of Pandora 05-04-2010 12:27 AM

The problem I have is this: I can imagine hanging out with all of you and having a blast! Everyone here pretty much fits into what I like in friends.

It's not difficult imagining ye with me, on our way to Avatar 2. Laughing together, understanding together, and generally Seeing each other and enjoying the movie as if we were related in some way. It'd be the perfect day.

Distance is a bitch!

Your imagination is actually what the reality would be, Dreaming. I'm not new to web fora. After I'd been hanging out at Starship Modeler for years, I went to the annual model contest that the membership is fond of in Louisville, Kentucky (USA, Earth), called "Wonderfest." That first year was absolutely magical. Everyone knew me and I knew everyone. It was just like going back to school in the fall after summer vacation. The bonus, of course, was that I could now see and hear, and gain more enjoyment of the personalities. I'll never forget that trip. And each year going back was not quite as magical, but it was still a feeling of family. It still is, and would be this year if I had not chosen to stay home in Tucson for various reasons.

To me, though, this proves that the feelings of family that forums can get, and this one has gotten in apparently a remarkably short time, are very real -- not some figment of an internet imagination. So while distance is a factor we cannot overcome, at least we can dip our virtual queue's into the world wide web and enjoy each other. I realize I am very, very new here, and while older than most, I am as much of a newborn as Jake was when he first met Neytiri and the Omaticaya. And of course, my enthusiasm may have been a bit over the top....sorry if I've stepped on any toes...er...tails. ;) :gembarrassed

Of course, all this means that I was serious about convening in San Diego for those that can travel to Comicon some year. I have a feeling it would be a blast.

..ive 'met' some of you people *eyes at FK* but its true, its the general problem with sites like these, we become friends, but murphy's law, we all live veeery far apart

Leonopteryx 05-04-2010 02:51 AM

The world is a smaller place than you may imagine. have faith, and one day you may meet us all.

Grif 05-04-2010 04:34 AM

Listen mate, if I'm ever in Wales I'll give you a call. And if your in Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth area) tell me.

Stanley_9875 05-04-2010 07:24 AM

^^so there are two people in Texas I should meet... My buddy and I are trying to plan a road trip for next summer across the US, he's part of the amine show Bleach forums and I obviously ToS and we're trying to possibly meet as many fellow family members (you) in the US as possible... Still figuring and plannig but we have hope. And I also have to meet some people overseas just need the money and the time off... And there's still the hope of an Avatar 2 meetup :)

Fkeu'itan 05-04-2010 09:32 AM

I suppose there is hope after all... It's just difficult living on a tiny island separated from the rest of the world, y'know?

Like if I lived in the US it would be so much easier because, although internal flights are still expensive, there is still the possibility of driving or catching the train to other places within the US and going to a lot more events like ComicCon. Being separated by 4000 miles of water is very expensive.

Don't misunderstand me, though... i'd really love to be able to meet some of the fellow Brits here and maybe even some of those from Europe - something I hope will become a reality in the summer with this camping trip - it just sucks that we couldn't all live closer together.

Oh, almost forgot to mention, you all are awesome. :D
