Fate has dealt us a cruel hand.

There are so many wonderful people here and it destroys me to think that I will never meet most of you in person. So cruel that so many incredible and rich people who share such common interests will never encounter face-to-face, instead limited to mere text and still images. Everything that could ever be shared - All the love, all the posibilities, all the stories, music, joy, hapiness... all of it... gone.
And all because this world is just far too big.

It kills me inside. :'(

ZenitYerkes 05-03-2010 09:50 PM

And it kills my eyes, too...

Jokes apart, I also wonder how if everyone of us moved to a single place to party or go live in the wild, or just meet; I believe we would have a great time (I'd love to live-debate with Spock or Punk about politics and Woodsprite or Harvester about religion). Perhaps sharing some culture and ideas, or just gather in a room and watch Avatar in a big wide screen.

Just think in all the possibilities :)

A shame we can't meet unless we travel thousands and thousands of miles.

stdout 05-03-2010 09:51 PM

Well, there's always Skype...

I'm a little shy though. Maybe one day.

txen 05-03-2010 10:08 PM

Try and be an optimist. I prefer to think of it this way.

We have been graced with the ability to reach out over thousands of kilometers and touch the lives of those that we would never have even known existed. Likewise many you will never meet in person are able to touch your life. Without it we would be isolated and have few if any like minded people to share our experiences.

That sounds better does it not?

It does sound better, but it still does not help what could be but may never be. :(

Taw Makto 05-03-2010 10:48 PM

Hey, there's always Comicon! We could stage a posse and take over the place.... :D

Human No More 05-03-2010 11:35 PM

I know exactly what you mean... so many people here I want to meet... :'(

Txum_kali'weya 05-04-2010 12:11 AM

some of the people here i have a possibility of meeting, but i won't get to everyone.

Dreaming Of Pandora 05-04-2010 12:27 AM

The problem I have is this: I can imagine hanging out with all of you and having a blast! Everyone here pretty much fits into what I like in friends.

It's not difficult imagining ye with me, on our way to Avatar 2. Laughing together, understanding together, and generally Seeing each other and enjoying the movie as if we were related in some way. It'd be the perfect day.

Distance is a bitch!

Taw Makto 05-04-2010 02:46 AM

Your imagination is actually what the reality would be, Dreaming. I'm not new to web fora. After I'd been hanging out at Starship Modeler for years, I went to the annual model contest that the membership is fond of in Louisville, Kentucky (USA, Earth), called "Wonderfest." That first year was absolutely magical. Everyone knew me and I knew everyone. It was just like going back to school in the fall after summer vacation. The bonus, of course, was that I could now see and hear, and gain more enjoyment of the personalities. I'll never forget that trip. And each year going back was not quite as magical, but it was still a feeling of family. It still is, and would be this year if I had not chosen to stay home in Tucson for various reasons.

To me, though, this proves that the feelings of family that forums can get, and this one has gotten in apparently a remarkably short time, are very real -- not some figment of an internet imagination. So while distance is a factor we cannot overcome, at least we can dip our virtual queue's into the world wide web and enjoy each other. I realize I am very, very new here, and while older than most, I am as much of a newborn as Jake was when he first met Neytiri and the Omaticaya. And of course, my enthusiasm may have been a bit over the top....sorry if I've stepped on any toes...er...tails. ;) :gembarrassed

Of course, all this means that I was serious about convening in San Diego for those that can travel to Comicon some year. I have a feeling it would be a blast.

X.,.Pandora.,.X 05-04-2010 02:48 AM

..ive 'met' some of you people *eyes at FK* but its true, its the general problem with sites like these, we become friends, but murphy's law, we all live veeery far apart

Leonopteryx 05-04-2010 02:51 AM

The world is a smaller place than you may imagine. have faith, and one day you may meet us all.

Grif 05-04-2010 04:34 AM

Listen mate, if I'm ever in Wales I'll give you a call. And if your in Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth area) tell me.

Stanley_9875 05-04-2010 07:24 AM

^^so there are two people in Texas I should meet... My buddy and I are trying to plan a road trip for next summer across the US, he's part of the amine show Bleach forums and I obviously ToS and we're trying to possibly meet as many fellow family members (you) in the US as possible... Still figuring and plannig but we have hope. And I also have to meet some people overseas just need the money and the time off... And there's still the hope of an Avatar 2 meetup :)

Fkeu'itan 05-04-2010 09:32 AM

I suppose there is hope after all... It's just difficult living on a tiny island separated from the rest of the world, y'know?

Like if I lived in the US it would be so much easier because, although internal flights are still expensive, there is still the possibility of driving or catching the train to other places within the US and going to a lot more events like ComicCon. Being separated by 4000 miles of water is very expensive.

Don't misunderstand me, though... i'd really love to be able to meet some of the fellow Brits here and maybe even some of those from Europe - something I hope will become a reality in the summer with this camping trip - it just sucks that we couldn't all live closer together.

Oh, almost forgot to mention, you all are awesome. :D

Autumnshire 05-04-2010 10:02 AM

Hey. I'm in New Zealand. That's as far off as it goes. But I'm gonna meet a few members in August. Fkeu you're important to me, I plan on meeting you in my travels someday, too. Please don't feel so sad :( I mean, it does suck, but it will happen. Maybe not everyone, but it will happen with some. Hey and Skype and stuff in the meanwhile, or something. Webcam always makes people feel a bit closer.

*Na'vi hugs* my friend. Lots of them. Smile, and know that it'll happen! I'll save up for ages to make sure it does!

Immo39 05-04-2010 10:14 AM

Well, my area and to a larger extent my age (yes I'm young :P) do affect me being able to meet you guys for any gathering.. :S

I think for my case, the only chance is if the sequel comes out and there's a mass viewing.. Till then, I'll suffice with IRC :)

There are still a few of us here... This why I want the trip you suggested to happen :)
I want to meet all my friends from here...

Do you have skype? I haven't seen you on yet :)
I'd like to talk with you there some time, there are quite a few people there now.

rapunzel77 05-04-2010 02:03 PM

I would love to meet all of you someday. I know that distance and lack of funds is a problem, especially for me right now. However, if anyone of you decide to come to florida, come up here to the least likely place, Jacksonville. We do have beaches and there is an historic city not far from us (St. Augustine) that has reenactments. Once in a while we have concerts. We have a river.

Ok, there isn't much here, LOL. That being said, come out here and we'll have some fun, even if its just craming into my little apartment and watching Avatar :).

allycat 05-04-2010 02:51 PM

hey! thanks for making this thread! i know what you mean! i wish to meet you all too in person cause you are so wonderful and touching. I love that we can say what we want to each other cause there is no judging and stuff :P it makes this world a bit of a better place when we know we can find better people :D

it is true though, at least we can talk on here.. its better than not talking at all. we still get together as one big family and discuss everything from issues in the world to our favourite Avatar characters to love.. its beautiful :D

Toshowlove 05-04-2010 02:55 PM

ME TOOO!
Gosh, so many of you have helped me when i'm down and there are so many more of you that i'd love to just hang out with. Knowing that some people just need a friend or a shoulder is one thing, but when they dont have that IRL, i get so sad!

Perhaps in the future paths can cross, but until then, i'm right there with you guys... it would be delightful to meet you!

To be fair though, i shouldn't really be one to complain. My favourite person in the world is on here and i can access him! I can only wish others can be so fortunate.

allycat 05-04-2010 03:02 PM

awww^^

you speak such true words! I am happy that you have someone on here thats your fav :D i think that is adorable!! and so awesome :D

because of you guys (ToS) I feel better about myself too.. I have learnt to appreciate myself as a person and not put myself down cause i dont look a certain way or act a certain way.. now i can appreciate my curves and strange attitude :D

KUDOS TO YOU TOS!!

Eltu 05-04-2010 03:29 PM

What you all have been saying is so true...

Meeting ANY of you in here would be amazing!

Human No More 05-04-2010 03:40 PM

Well, one day I want to go to Scandinavia. Maybe I'll include Sweden and can meet you then :)

Txantsulsam Fyawintxu 05-04-2010 06:11 PM

Distance matters not when it comes to Love. :) Those who hold the vision and the feeling within their very cores, it shall come to pass. In the meantime, be glad with what you have, right here and now. Right this very moment... :)

Exactly :). Distances can be overcome easily. You just have to work at it. I know it isn't easy though. Distances are painful but the best thing one can do is have patience. That will make the meeting sweeter.

You're going across the U.S.?? I'm also in Texas! :P A littleways north of Dallas, though.

tm20 05-06-2010 02:07 PM

damn, i totally feel like this (thread heading) because i've met many cool people on Avatar Forums/Tree of Souls and I will probably never see them. Although I have met 1 person from Avatar Forums, we went to see Avatar at the IMAX when he was in town, but oother than that 1 person..... Well atleast we have the post your picture thread. :)

Hm... Yes, he's quite a friendly person. :) I haven't been in contact with him for a while, though. I sent him a few messages and he was going to send me something too. Never heard from him since about 3 months ago. Any word?

not at all. i sent him a message because he said he would send me details of someone who was selling the Avatar movie posters, but no reply :(

Txum_kali'weya 05-09-2010 09:44 AM

Another casualty of forum fissure.
This is sad. Very sad only. They did not need to leave.

Human No More 05-09-2010 03:43 PM

Make me wonder how many people are still trying to hold on, not to lose Avatar, unaware that we are here... :'(

Sight Unseen 05-10-2010 02:13 AM

Life is a bitch. Even if one of you lived across town, I still couldn't meet up.

ME: I'm gonna catch the metro to the north side
MOM: Why?
ME: To meet a friend.
MOM:...
MOM: You don't have any friends there...is this one of those internet chat line thingies?!
MOM: Haven't you seen dateline lately? Wait... you're not even supposed to be talking on the internet!
MOM: You're grounded for a month!
ME: *facepalm*
ME: *retreats to room, incurs a head-desk injury.*

I'm very grateful for any communication with you all, ma aysmukan si aysmuke, even if it is just pictures and text. It could always be a lot worse, I could be sitting here with all these emotions bottled up and no one to talk to.

damn that really sucks. I think my mum would probably have said the same thing about me meeting a dude from the internet. But I just told her I'm going to see Avatar on my own and she said why so I said "Because it's IMAX!!!! It's......... FREAKIN IMAX!!!!!!" and she didn't understand what was so special so she said "fine, but this is the last time!" and it actually was the 5th time out of 9 :D GREAT SUCCESS!

I know how you feel.

I chat to quite a few of the people on here on skype and tinychat and my parents get really, really suspicious. Not so much my Dad, I think he understands me and trusts the world somewhat...

But my mum is totally off-the-scale. She actually asked me if the people I was talking to were religious fundamentalists and were trying to recruit me to al-qaeda. Part of it was joking, but I can tell that another part is deadly serious.

Eywa only knows what they're going to say when I tell them i'm going on a camping trip with some of the people here this summer... I suppose i'll just have to lie to them again. :(

Na'vi_supporter 05-10-2010 01:39 PM

I can clearly imagine myself in the similar situation a few years ago. Parents usually do this, I hope I won't be the same when time come... On the other side I can see why parents behave like this, when they are feeded by media that there is danger everywhere, and nothing positive no more. However what people say and how they behave here only confirms that this community is unusuall in means of goodness - it is nice and very positive, but make troubles when it comes to ability of other people to understand that this can be (and IS) real. So don't be annoyed, but try to speak more with parents and try to explain, I know it will be hard way and for someone dead end ... but hope is everlasting.
