Can I not have what I want?

Contrary to what you might think, i need to let this out.

I'm struggling to come to terms with this online relationship thing, i love the girl with all my heart, but then immence pain proceeds my thought of happiness, the bearing realisation that i am a dreamer, and that i get carried away. Can i not have a fully developed relationship, with a girl who offers soo much, and expects little return, someone who showers you with love, expresses themselves to you and make you feel wholesome and good. I want this, i'm determined to get this further, but these crashing doubts are consuming me, i want this i really do, i feel like i have found my equal, the girl, the one thing i feel i might deserve. Am i being too ambitious, am i infatuated or really do i have the chances, because im currently saddened by this, im not considering at all to change the situation, im not leaving her for one second, she is alot to me, and this may sound dramatic.

I want this, i really do, and i need you guys right now to guide me into sense.

I have no idea...

Find something over the summer than involves you going to the US, whether it's volunteer work or something else that's relatively near where she lives.

That's about the best thing you can do.

Dreaming Of Pandora 05-05-2010 11:31 PM

Well you're clearly determined to take it further. With motivation like that I doubt your relationship will stay put.

As I have no experience in long-distance relationships all I can say is good luck! :)

I can identify somewhat with this. Some may say that internet and long distance relationships can never last. I don't believe this. Yes, the "odds" might be "against" you. But don't give up hope. Who is someone else to determine your fate? If someone offers doubt, this is what they are trying to do. I don't know if anyone is actually doing this, but that is the impression I get. However, with such relationships, caution is key, and I cannot stress this enough.

So I guess my advice(whatever it may be worth) is: Pursue this relationship, but be cautious. If you don't pursue further, nothing further will come of it. But if you throw caution to the wind, so to speak, there is a chance you could get heartbroken.

I wish you best of luck. :)

If it's meant to be, neither distance nor disapproval of others should stop you from pursuing it.

Taw Makto 05-06-2010 12:44 AM

And who doesn't approve of love? But a relationship shared over a distance can be different from time spent together. The best measure of your love's durability is time spent together - not sharing words, sharing space. So much is lost over a telephone or in words written on paper or a computer screen. You're heading in the right direction, but as my father would say, make haste slowly. Asking patience of a young man in love is one of the most agonizing things to suggest. But I do. The pain of waiting is nothing compared to the pain of resolving differences discovered too late. That said, my best wishes for both of you....love is one of the things this world could certainly use more of.

Cyan, I know what sort of doubts are going through your head. I've been there before. Don't fret, ok? You are determined and that is what matters. Definitely pursue it. You love her and nothing should stand in your way. I agree with Devourment, try to save up some money to come to the US to meet her :).

Good luck and God bless you in this. It is difficult but with patience and love, it will work. I know because I have been there before.

Grif 05-06-2010 03:23 AM

Go to it, and good luck.

Who is the person in question? (if you don't feel like answering please don't)

Spock 05-06-2010 05:31 AM

I know how you feel.

The only thing you can do is trust in time.

Rabbit!!! I miss talking with you ma tsmukan :)

It's a girl named Ty... You can find her mostly (if not only) on the Jake Sully is the Cats Meow thread...

But Cyan... Do not give up hope it may seem hard but perservere... Let nothing seperate you from love. Jake didn't... Neither should you... Indeed get a job save up money and fly out to where she lives for a couple days over the summer. Being apart from love the way you two are now will make it all the more special when you meet for the first time

Cyan 05-06-2010 07:58 AM

Aww thanks guys, my love for her is incomparable to any other girl in my life, there is a serious connection between us, and the determination we have is somewhat inspiring. I'm sure you are getting tired of us :P

You got a dirty mind :P lolz

Cyan, keep a sharp eye on Priceline.com. You never know when a drop in ticket prices will come about. If you love her alot, than go get her.
