30 Hour Famine

Yup I'm starving myself for 30 hours... why? To help people in third world countries where people die everyday from starvation. For a few weeks I have been earning money, and all the money I earned went to World Vision who would package food and deliver it to third world countries... $30 fed a kid for a month. How cool is that. It's an event our church decided to do, so from 6:30am Friday morning (today, its 8:31am right now) till 12:30pm Saturday I won't be eating. Its a great feeling sitting here (yes even at work) and just knowing I'm saving a kids life right now. Just something cool I thought I'd post :)

Only in 3 hours... lol

Too much water is actually really bad for you. Ever heard of water intoxication?

Hey! I've got this idea too, and I was going to put it in practice tomorrow!

Anyway, good luck with your famine :D Earth will thank it to you (and the poor ones as well).

I know you can hold out. This is a much better sign of protest than setting yourself on fire lol. I wish you good health, and may I suggest some protein drinks when your done. The amount of muscle you'll lose is equivalent to a week if you don't have protein in you daily diet, speaking from 48 (in your case, 30) hours.

No offense, but what is the point in starving yourself for 30 hours? :S I mean, there are times I don't eat for 41 hours straight (I have this strange problem with my metabolism), but it isn't helping anyone. If there're starving people in other countries, what is not eating going to do? Is the food you didn't eat going to somehow get eaten by those in need? Is every hour you spend not eating earning you money? or... ? I don't really get it.

I think the project your doing with the church is wonderful, though. :) But what does starving yourself have to do with it? :S Just wondering...

That probably explains why I don't have much muscle on me...

Perhaps this is a part of the church program. Kind of goes hand in hand to help the participant realize the affects of going hungry.

Well, as someone who has not eaten for long periods of time, I advise you to start eating really slowly when you do eat again. I mean like, maybe have a smoothie or something in liquid form first, since your stomach is going to be completely empty and really slow at first.
Like...don't eat peanut butter or something. That would be really bad. XD.
But I'm sure you know that and I mean, it's really not that long that you're fasting. Glad that it's for a good cause! :)

I guess it could be a sponsored thing, or just awareness.

Myself, I eat in a weird pattern. Some days I'll eat a lot, other days I'll maybe eat once.

Dreaming Of Pandora 05-08-2010 07:01 PM

Awesome dude, I wish you luck to pull through! :D

Iknimaya 05-08-2010 07:33 PM
