WAY TO GO GUY!!!! I have never hikes ANY of it. My hiking used to mostly be vertical, I climbed a bunnch of mountains, and spelunked several cave systems. Those photos are GREAT!!!.

Thanks, Niri Te. :) I'd definitely recommend hiking any part of it if you get the chance, and there are certainly many vertical places to go there - sounds like you've done that a bit more than me though! I've never truly gone spelunking, for the record.

I could not do the radical climbing or spelunking though. I have developed a slight case of Osteo arthritis in my bottom four disks of my spine from doing all the jumping out of airplanes that I did in the Army, ans then skydiving as a Civilian. I wouldn't change a minute of it though, I'd do it all over again. I could still handle the elevation changes alright, just not the sheer rock face work any more. You are still young, so you CAN do the same stuff that I did in my teens through my late forties. The WORST feeling that you will EVER have, is not having tried the things that you really dreamed of doing when you were younger. I have done almost everything that I have ever wanted to do, (except go into Space), and even if my body paid a price for it, my SPIRIT has been overjoyed. The memories of traversing a 60 foot long cliff face that had a foot ledge that was eight inches wide, and an overhead hand ledge that was about four inches wide, with a 21 speed mountain bike slung over my right shoulder, while the Hawaiian surf was pounding on the rocks 80 feet below me, is a memory that can NEVER be taken from me. What you do NOW, while you can, will stay with you for the rest of your life. If you are afraid of getting hurt, just take proper care to PLAN your attack on the obstacle that you plan to defeat, and remember a light hearted ditty that all of us that do such stuff used to recite to each other. It goes like this: "Pain is temporary, Glory is forever, and REAL chicks dig scars".

Congrats Empty Glass. That scenery looks spectacular!! :D
How long did it take you to hike?

Empty Glass 09-05-2012 12:55 AM

Thanks Pa'li! :) It took 20 days to hike the whole thing, though I met lots of people who were doing it in less than that. Personally, I wouldn't have wanted to hike any faster than I did - all the scenery would've gone by too fast for me.

That's a pretty good timeframe. You're definitely right about wanting to take in all the scenery rather then try to rush through it all. Hopefully you got to camp out close to the trail. :)

The only place I've ever been to that could visually maybe compare to Pandora would be camping in Seattle, but I don't have pictures from that :< Mikko took enough pictures for all of us anyway :)

That's a good photo, makes it hard to tell the scale, so it looks huge :P
