Children's Names

So every once in awhile some parents decide to name their kid in reference to a movie, book, game, or tv show. However it would seem to me that it's not until whatever it is has sort of slipped out of societies eye. So what I'm getting at is when do you think we are going to see our first Neytiri or our first Cortana?

I bet we've got some in South America or Africa: there poor people tend to put names of what they see on TV or cinemas. For example, I met a Colombian girl called Iloveny (for those who don't get it, Iloveny = I Love NY).

in about 5 months.

I think naming a child is a bit too 'far'. Now a pet or an animal....Put it this way, if I get another dog, it's going to be called Seze.

If I have a little girl, I'll name her Neytiri instead of Violet. I usually think about names for important things from time to time. Whenever someone brings it up, I think back. Neytiri sounds so much more eloquent than Violet, plus it'll give me good memories.

My only worry would be that they would google their name and "oh look I'm named after a 10 foot blue alien" or something like that.

You could call your son Jake?

lol, I google myself and find I'm named after a retired Nascar driver. I know how it feels.

Well, why not. Neytiri is a beautiful name :)

My parents always claimed to have named me after James Bond but only in a joking manor.

That is beside the point.

I've known 2 people called Jake. One was someone I knew years ago and was annoying, and one is a friend I know now who's a great guy, so it varies :P

Yah I know.

I would never name a child after a movie character. I think that just sets the child up for teasing from other children.

I am a living example. My first and middle name, Adam Clayton, are characters from the TV soap opera shows "Dallas" and "Dynasty" from the 80's. Originally, I was going to be named after my Dad's great uncle Atto. However, my mom preferred Adam and Clayton because of the qualities of the characters; powerful, charming, handsome, intelligent. It's not quite the same situation because they're more common names than "Neytiri", but I think it's kind of cool. I like telling people the story, even though I'm pretty sure Adam was a villian hahaha!

for as far as i have read there are already children named after the movies. Neytiri and Toruk..... it was in the dutch news only a few weeks after the release of our beloved movie....
