One of the greatest feelings.

I believe one of the best feelings in the entire world is being at a gig or a club.

The kind of clubs and sets I go to, there is never any fighting or people getting at each other, there is only absolute love for everyone around you, for the DJ and for the music. We often form circles or 'holes' in the crowd and have one person, random or a friend, do a solo dance in the middle of the ring for a minute or two and no matter how insane or crap their dancing is, they always get clapped, hugged and high-fived afterwards, just simply for being absolutely awesome and for just being who they are.

I have done it many a time and I have to say, my dance style is uhh... "unique" :P but I always get the love, just like everyone else does.

So I just wanted to hear your perspective... is being at a music gig or festival one of, if not the best feelings in the world for you? And have you ever been to a place where the feeling is as I spoke of?

Have you ever heard Paul Oakenfold live at Gatecrasher 19-06-99? This is something that I have never experienced at a party or club. Just listening to this set makes me feel like I am there. Listen to it and you will see.

It's been years since I went clubbing or raving, but I still remeber the amazing time I had dancing and making great friends. I can't dance half as well as I used to be able too, but I will still do a little at home when no ones watching lol :D

I have not heard of that paricular set, but I have heard that gatecrasher is generally pretty awesome. I'd love to go to an event like that sometime.

Hehe yeah dancing in general is pretty fun, whether it's alone or with friends. I'm a bit of a bedroom raver myself. ;)

I'd love to send you this set if your interested in hearing it. It's over 10 years old, but soooo dayum amazing.

Please do, i'd love to hear it.

There is an event called Glade in this country that I have had my eye on for a couple of years now, it's a camping music festival combining the best of D&B and Electronica with interactive art installations. Sounds like an excellent place to go to. Problem is the price, it's pretty steep.

Stanley_9875 05-10-2010 05:56 PM

You have to at least attend one rave in your life... the community, the music, the lights, its so incredible. It gives me the feeling of being free. Raves, concerts, clubs, wherever. As many of you know I'm a raver so the additction to the music, lights, and community is a high flying freedom... and I don't need drugs or liquor to have fun... I just go packing my rave gloves, and glowsticks, and the attitude of staying up all night and dancing and having fun. Being a DJ is also that as well, except I'm behind the music. My friend and I plan smaller type rave/trance parties and we dance all night long. I'm trying to up our parties, hopefully by renting a place so we can have a bigger dance area and invite more people.

The music injected into my veins, the ability to be up, dancing, and full of energy, the love from the other ravers... they're just nights to let all your worries behind you and feeling the love. As us ravers say; PLUR on! Peace Love Unity Respect. Thats what I say, thats what I preach. Fkeu'itan, we need to rave together someday.

And Fkeu'itan and madman, you missed it last night. I was on a chat using my cam with a couple people here and I brought in my DJ lights and fog machine and randomly I'd play a song, get up with my red and blue Inova lights, and dance. Bedroom raver, I love it. I remember one trance gig I DJ'd at I played the song Alex MORPH Walk The Edge (Alex MORPH remix) and I went out and danced, and the next thing I knew I was crying... right there dancing. The song affected me so much I cried. I even cried during a song I played last night on the web cam :D Thanks for bringing this up and letting me express myself. We need to rave together

Let's do it brother. We should go see a Euro headliner the next time they come through LA or San Fran. I really really want to go to another party. Been over 10 years.

Stanley_9875 05-10-2010 06:21 PM

Holy crap madman alright we have to then :D I'm so upset at myself though I missed a concert of Infected Mushroom and ATB in Febuary... I saw the concert date the day after it happened :(

oh wow... ATB is teh AWESOME!!! I've been listening to ATB for many years. Infected Mushroom is err well different, but I still listen to a few tracks.

And, I am dead serious about going to one of these!

ATB is so incredible, I like Infected Mushroom, they are different and put on amazing shows... and me too I'm dead serious :D

Devourment 05-10-2010 07:25 PM

Mine is the exact opposite of yours I think. I get the best feeling from going in pits where people are getting pulverized at death metal shows, total adrenaline rush.

Fkeu'itan 05-10-2010 07:50 PM

It's not completely my area of expertise, but i'd sure as hell go if you two were. :D

Hmm... That is one area I never really understood. I don't really see the appeal of going to what is esentially an organised fight myself... ;)

Fkeu'itan 05-10-2010 07:56 PM

Well the kind of music you guys seem to listen to. Not saying I don't like it or anything, it's just not my first genre choice.

What is? My favorite genres are Trance and House music.

Stanley_9875 05-10-2010 08:03 PM

Trance/House/Electronic/Rave/Techno/Dubstep/Drum & Bass, and everything in between (Ex. Dark Trance, Dream Trance, things like that)

Fkeu'itan 05-10-2010 08:41 PM

I'm big on the D&B scene myself, particularly liquid D&B and autonomic.

I do like most things electronica though.

Human No More 05-10-2010 09:34 PM

The weird thing is, I'm into completely different music, but I kind of understand in a way. The only places I go play metal, but there's a feeling of respect and understanding between many people, even if it's not visible like you described. When we have a circle pit or a wall of death, when someone gets knocked down (happens fairly often) we help them. Even though people do get hurt, if they don't just get back up again then someone will help them up and let them get out of the pit.
It's an amazing feeling, but as Devourment said, it's probably more adrenaline based. Personally, I just can't really understand electronic music, it all sounds too similar for me and I prefer something with vocals and actual instruments rather than just sound effects. I have heard a few electronic songs I don't mind so much, but they have been a lot more relaxed and musical than a lot of electronic music, some of them had actual vocals.

rapunzel77 05-10-2010 10:21 PM

Most of you know that I enjoy different types of music depending on my mood. I have never been much for clubbing, etc. Its probably due to the fact that I don't have any friends who are into it around here and my husband is not. That being said, I love dancing at weddings, etc. I have older tastes so we end up dancing to that. Every wedding I have been to that has had dancing the people laugh and clap their hands when they see others dancing in the most silliest of ways.

It would be interesting to go to a rave sometime. I know that my husband would never go for it though. He likes folk and bluegrass music and prefers acoustic music instead of electric. Me...I'll listen to anything mostly :).

I just got your PM, thanks for going to the trouble of uploading it for me, I appreciate it a lot.

@ HNM
I have never been to a place with a pit or anything so I guess i didn't really know what it was like. I just kind of naturally assumed that everyone was out to give each other a broken nose and that no one really cared if people got trampled on. Not quite sure what gave me that idea, but thanks for clarifying it a bit anyway. ;)

Stanley_9875 05-11-2010 05:19 PM

yea I've been in a mosh before, went with a friend to a heavy metal concert and basically, yea if you're in there you'd better expect to get hurt... not my cup of tea. I'd rather be waving a glowtick around with my light up shirt or Avatar shirt, giving people light shows, or behind the tables playing the music, dancing till I nearly fall down from exhaustion, feeling the beat of the music pulse in my veins and flow through my soul and being surrounded by strobes, lasers, par can lights, and other lighting effects is the way I love to go. Not saying moshes are bad or anything, I don't judge and I can't hate... its relative truth, whats true to you may not be true to me, and thats completely okay :) thats what makes us unique is what we each like and love.

QFT.

You said exactly how I feel about that too...

The closest I ever got to a mosh was at that Pendulum gig. Some people started up this pit-type-thing (although it's really not the music for it). I ended up in there, I elbowed someone in the face by accident and gave them a nosebleed and instantly felt bad about it. I just don't enjoy hurting other people, whether they expect it or not.

But again, like Stanley said, i'm not judging or putting you down or anything... Just saying how I feel.

That
idea
is
awesome! When I'm usually video chatting with people I have my lights going off in the background and my fog machine going off... suddenly I'm like "Rave time!" Grab my red and blue Inova lights, put on some upbeat song, blast it from my DJ speakers and let the lights fly :D When and where?
