Nerds! Nerds! Nerds!
WOW, what a weekend I have had. The wedding was awesome. I want to share all the details with you. Here it goes:
Friday morning I woke up at 3 am. We set off around 5:30 ish. My brother ended up getting stopped by the cops in Georgia. He was going 75 in a 60. Supposedly it was a construction zone but there was no sign of construction. No trucks, etc only some traffic cones. We arrived around 12:30ish. Got to the Hotel and napped a bit. Then it was off to the rehearsal. It went well. The dinner was at a french restaurant. Yummy food. Open bar :). Then we walked down the river walk to the welcome party for all the guests. My brother and sister-in-law had booked a band called Chairman of the Board. They are an r&b band that had a few hits in the 70's. They were AWESOME. My husband and I danced a lot that night. I think we probably expended most of our energy dancing on Friday. My husband even thought about doing the splits but he believes that was the alcohol talking...lol :P. Saturday: Myself and the other girls spent most of the day in the hair salon. Most of us have long hair so it took hours. Then it was time to get dressed. They had rented out a trolley for all the wedding party to arrive in. My brother and sister-in-law decided to have "first look" pics and the rest of the pictures done in various places in Wilmington before the ceremony. The ceremony was at an historic Lutheran Church. It was very beautiful inside. They had two violins, a cello, a trumpeter, and an organist. Very lovely ceremony. Then, after the ceremony we paraded down to the reception with streamers in our hands while there was an accordionist that played German music for us. The reception was in an ante-bellum Mansion. The food was in four rooms representing four countries: England, France, Germany, and Italy. The first three represented their trip to Europe where my brother proposed in Germany. The fourth (Italy) is where they are having their honeymoon. The decor was very southern style with pretty flowers, cake, etc. Very elegant. They had a pavilion outside with dance floor, bar, etc. There was another live band and a DJ. The live band was an 80's cover band called the Chicago Spazmatics. These guys were hilarious. They acted like nerds and dressed in propeller caps, helmets, nerdy glasses, pocket protectors, etc. All the guests were encouraged to get "nerdy" pictures made using nerd props. One of the favors were nerdy glasses which everyone was wearing. It got very crazy as the night wore on. Especially when the band asked the crowd to give their best footloose imitations. One of the guests mistakenly thought it was Risky Business so he took his pants off and strutted on the dance floor...LOL. Anyway, I had a ton of fun and now I have to recover again because I am sore from dancing, etc :). I have another wedding to go to in two weeks! Argh! |
