Yeah it is a powerful movie. Makes us all think more about the life we have and what paths so many have taken. How power and greed have taken over the world, not love and family...well those are the kind of things I started thinking about. I began reading more, spending more time with my family, etc. Sure PAD hits me now and then still, but living a life more Na'vi than anything else keeps me smiling. I know it all sounds corny and cheesy, but its kind of how Avatar has changed me....

Not corny, not cheesy. I truly understand what you are talking about :)

Avatar changed all of us. ;)

Indeed!

Human No More 06-02-2010 01:16 PM

Exactly...

Avatar has still kept me thinking... makes me wonder what I want to do with my life... and it's something I really can't answer... :'(

I'm deff. going to check out the Medicine. You know, the "vine of souls".

Gotta connect with the ancestors.

And no, it's not illegal where I'm going.

At that point i expect a 'moment of clarity' which will help me choose a path from that point.

Step by step, kids... gotta take it step by step.

auroraglacialis 06-03-2010 01:09 PM

Sounds a big step. That vine is tough if you have no experience, I am told. Respeced even by people who have experience in that direction. It is supposed to help find -sometimes unexpected - answers indeed, but the part that is said to be a cleansing comes first and is viscious. It may be life changing, I hope we will see you again here or in the other forum after that, so you can tell us, even if it turns out that these forums are not your destiny.

Maybe I'm being a skxawng... but can someone please explain what this vine is? Thanks :P

auroraglacialis 06-03-2010 11:43 PM

There is a theory, that some of the things in Avatar have in part been inspired by it. It is a vine that grows in the jungle. It is not called the tree of souls but the vine of souls. If taken together with another plant (just like Jake has to in the cut out initiation scene: Jake Has An Acid Trip), it has a number of effects. Usually it makes you puke first, then it has effects on the psyche, said to be healing for it by letting you experience things in the form of visions. In some countries this is classified as a strong hallucigenic "drug" but it seems to have a long tradition in Amazonian tribes. The effect is supposed to be in some way very much like some things in Avatar: Aya Avatar: by Erik Davis and https://www.dmt-nexus.com/forum/defa...posts&m=102888

Interesting...

Seamus 06-04-2010 01:31 AM

also, eywa_devotee (on AF) started a thread on it, and his/her experience of taking ayahuasca (the vine of souls) AT an Avatar screening.

quite intense.

Fkeu'itan 06-04-2010 01:54 AM

So this is DMT we're talking about here right?

Human No More 06-04-2010 02:10 AM

Banisteriopsis caapi, according to that article.

Seamus 06-04-2010 02:20 AM

Banisteriopsis caapi, brewed in a tea with chacruna (i think that's psychotria viridis), is traditionally called Ayahuasca, but the name Ayahuasca refers actually just to the vine, caapi. There is NO DMT in that vine. The DMT is supplied by the chacruna. The Ayahuasca makes the chacruna's DMT orally active, because it's a MAOI...

DMT is known to produce a VASTLY DIFFERENT EFFECT from the one experienced through the Medicine (as the tea is often called). There is a spiritual aspect that is totally not there in the DMT-only experience (plus, DMT use is illegal everywhere)

any more than that and we're probably going too far off topic. erowid has a lot of info on it, if you want more.

Fkeu'itan 06-04-2010 02:01 PM

Fair enough, I understand.
