Walk with me :D

Hello forums!!
Today I decided to go for a walk to a couple of my favourite spots, and put a few pics up for y'all to see what my hometown looks like :) I was going to write a deep and meaningful message to you all in general (about how happy I am to be a part of this community, about how grateful I feel to have 'met' all my friends, how I See you all, etc. etc. etc. - stuff I blab on about all the time anyway), but that didn't really happen. But anyway. Here are some snaps from Howick, in New Zealand.

This is Mellons Bay Beach; one of my favourite places :) Not the best pic but it shows the stormwater drain going straight into it... it's now one of the most polluted beaches in the area :( Such a shame because it really is beautiful, and now we have just wasted it.

More of the beach:

Choppy water, grey skies, and that island in the background is one of Auckland's most famous; Rangitoto Island.

The sun came out so I got wet :D

Aaand, moving on, this is a view near where I used to live, you can see Rangitoto in the distance, and those playing fields are part of my old high school.

Aaaand by now it was starting to rain on me a little bit - I'm annoyed because the views are so stunning when it's a sunny, cloudless day! Ah well. Last one, view of Eastern Beach from atop the cliffs:

Anyway, there we go. I will put some more on my profile here but just felt like showing anyone who's interested.

wow!!!! You have such beautiful surroundings tsmuke! I'd love to visit those places. Pandora on earth isn't so far away from you! Very lucky indeed. Thank you so much for sharing.

You live in a very beautiful place. It is sad how people always can seem to leave a mark on the most wonderful and harmless of places but they glitter still shines through.

Thanks so much for the pics.

Wow amazing ma tsmuke! So happy you get to live in such a beautiful place I wish I was there to enjoy it with you :) wide open field, nice waters (probably not the cleanest) but so gorgeous

Wow, a very beautiful place. I am jealous. ;) I love the rain, though. Rain is beautiful. :)

Yesss rain is beautiful, I admit that. I was just hoping for some good light and calm water, even though the pic quality is terrible and I'm no photographer.

The pic quality is fine, and the photographs are beautiful. You take awesome photos. :)

Looking good. New Zealand is definitely on my list of places to visit.

It great to have such nice places around you and better to have the time to go out to them. I need to work on that time part.

Coolness incarnate my love. :)

I had some cool photos from my south island trip but dad has them down in the Bay of Plenty :(

Achingly beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Walks like that around where I live...gotta watch out for rattlesnakes! ;)

Autumnshire 05-18-2010 06:33 AM

Eeeeh!!! We have 0 snakes in NZ (not even allowed them in zoos). I don't think I would like to meet one.

There are plenty of them here in the southwesten US. If you live on the edge of the city you tend to see several of them. I have had a few in my backyard where I am at now. At another place that I lived they would on occasion get inside the house. Nothing like meeting a rattler on the way to the kitchen at 5am. I didn't need any coffee that morning.

They are not really that bad though. You just have to respect them.

Yeah, I guess so. I would like to *see* snakes someday, just not meet one... in the kitchen... at 5am.
I'm sure I'd like them. But, from a good distance away.
