I am SO GLAD i left that place. All they ever to is talk sh*t about Jake and it's like wth? what did he ever do wrong? he's the one that really helped SAVE the whole entire race.. so why are people being so mean about it?
I just went on there yesterday and today and im furious :angry: sorry if i seem like im overdoing it with liking Jake and stuff it just makes me mad to a point where i never wanna go back there. Ive had problems with them hating on Jake, making fun of him and also people arguing with me all the time :angry:
They keep saying stuff like he gets the biggest ride to get Neytiri like he only cares about power and they think of him as some pig who is vain.. NO! he SAVED the entire race and tamed Toruk to do so! not to JUST get the woman and to be cool. NO. NO. NO.... how many times do i have to stress it that he's a good person? and wouldnt be that way? i dont get it :angry:
then they said he BUTCHERED the Na'vi lines after hunting that cool deer creature.. no he did NOT! he hasnt even been learning it for three months yet and they critisize? i wanna see them do better :angry:
and now they are making fun of his tattoo as a human :shock: how stupid could they get.. whats wrong with it? its just a tattoo...

The quality of threads (and, to be honest, people) has declined in the last couple of months over there, that's why I spend more time here than AF.

What really gets to me is people who say the acting was rubbish or 'fake' because it's CGI... I mean there are actually PEOPLE behind the mo-cap suits and facial animation... it's not 100% down to the animation department... far from it...

But if they now say anything, it's usally best to ignore it! BUt that depends ofc. If they say something bad that really is true and that you can't deny it yourself... I know that can feel quite a bit :S

People talk trash about him because at the start of the film he was sort of a stubborn retard, "treehugger crap," helping out Quaritch, etc. I could understand them ripping on him if he was that way for the entire movie, but since he realizes that the Na'vi and Pandora are things that should never be exploited, I really don't understand the hostility.

Creativity is wearing thin on the other forums, and things are getting desperate looking at the titles of the threads. Here, we atleast have a creative community, which creates threads that are not designed to catch your attention, but a little suprise behind every click :D

It is ridiculous to ridicule a fictional character in a movie that they supposedly like. Otherwise, why be on an Avatar forum. Anyway, people will have different opinions about characters.

As for as Jake. He's archetypal. He is an everyman who we can relate to and his story is beautiful. Sure, its been told before but that's fine since I liked the other stories that were similar to Avatar (Dances with Wolves, The Last Samurai). In fact, its due to the simple, timeless nature of Avatar that has its greatest appeal. There are reasons why people want to hear the same stories again but done in different ways. They are timeless stories that touch the heart and the soul. This is why I go for stories with heart. Sure, I can be brainy at times but a brainy movie doesn't touch me the way that the simpler, heartfelt movies do. Avatar is one of them :).

awwww^^ that is so sweet! i know what u mean. one of the first reasons why i loved Avatar the first time i watched it was because of how simple it was to follow and how similar it was to something that is warm and heartfilled. Jake is the pure example of the man i wish to meet in my lifetime.. hopefully while im still young :P haha he is everything to me.. hes like my angel.. <3

It's jealousy. I mean, I'm hugely jealous of Jake, but I don't bash him because of that. I don't like Jake at the start of the film, when he's talking to Quaritch, but as he learns to See, I like him.
