Trudy
She's probably my favourite character from the entire movie, and one who I wish we had seen a lot more of. Does anyone know if she'll get more attention in the extended version? I was very glad to see a non-Avatar human who was nonetheless able to see the wrong that was going on around her and do something about it.
Plus, she was hotter than Neytiri. :war: |
Jacob, I like Trudy very much but...

No competition IMO
I will not explain as this is a Trudy thread :P |
Hmm I think I will go ahead and start a Neytiri vs Trudy thread :D
|
Heresy...
Trudy is very hot, for a human, but comparing a human to a Na'vi... Na'vi all the way :D |
Neytiri all the way! Though Trudy isnt bad looking I still gotta stay with Neytiri! :P
Alas, I believe Trudy is dead so I dont know if we will be seeing her in the next movie :( |
To be honest when i first saw the Trailer i was : hell yeah! Michelle Rodriguez, im so going to go see that movie
Zoe and Michelle are both HOT! |
Michelle always playes a bit to much of a tom boy roll for me.
|
Well i think michelle did her best to portray her character, and she did a good job - however, i wasnt exactly happy with the character created by JC - She has some of the worst oneliners i have seen in quite some time :s
And i doubt that we will see her in any of the following movies. It might be Sci-Fi, but bringing back more than 1-2 characters will have a very negative effect on the average cinema-person. |
I love Trudy too.

I really didn't care that much about Trudy sad to say :( I didn't feel too much at all when she died, only a fear that more main characters would continue to die off, which they did. I am not a huge Michelle Rodriguez fan, saw her first in LOST and hated her role so I think that stereotype carried over.
As several users above mentioned, she was not the best scripted character. She had some flat-out boring and stupid lines. I just didn't find her character a driving force in my enjoyment of the movie at all, much like Norm. Which, btw, thank goodness that romance wasn't in there. Sorry to all the Trudy fanboys out there, but she just isn't my cup of tea ;) |

I wouldn't say I am a Trudy fanboy, but I did like Trudy. Actually, I really liked her in Lost and was sorry she was killed off. In fact, I didn't really watch it again after she went come to think about it. But I do think she was type cast in Avatar playing almost exactly the same role even to the extent that she got killed off. And indeed was similar to the Latin chic in Aliens to some extent. But in my case I liked the role Michelle played in Lost and Avatar, so I didn't mind at all and would not have minded seeing more of her. |
I didn't really think about her in Lost that much.
I did like Trudy, hey, she's a woman with an interest in aircraft, that's rare and hot :P , but really Neytiri >>>>>>>> Trudy. I didn't get annoyed about how her character was similar to to others she's played, simply because I never think about that, it just doesn't occurr to me. |
well, with the directors cut you'll be able to see her more!
|
...With Norm.
|
The expression on Trudy's face right before she dies is heartbreaking:

Trudy=NOM NOM NOM

Or am I reading too deep into this? |
I think she looks more disappointed that she couldn't help more. Also the realization that she was going to die, she knew she was going down and her survival wasn't good. I'm anxious to see the directors cut and see what was left out of the character development for all of them.
|
Interesting how the character with blue skin, cat features and small breasts gets more love than the fully human one. Bit of furry interest on this forum?
Then again, Neytiri's character gets far more development, giving us more time to fall in love with her. |

IMO, if Trudy were an avatar, she'd be just as spirited and fiesty as Neytiri if she had the chance to develop and learn the ways of the Na'vi, just like Jake. In fact...
...Trudy's pretty much a mirror of Jake, had he not become an avatar, but still sided with the Na'vi. If Trudy got the exact same chance that Jake had, things would probably turn out the same way, I think. |

I don't like humans. Neytiri is not human. I love Neytiri. |

Couldn't happen of course as the avatars are grown to match their intended operator. |

...That'd be disturbing. :S |
maybe in the extra 8 minutes we get to see her meet with the na'vi. maybe grace introduced her to them :O

And I absolutely still saw bits of them in the finish movie. And I ship them so, so, so soooo much. But. Yes. Trudy? Is awesome. |
Just to answer the original question first, there is alot more Trudy and Norm on the extended version on blu-ray. I just wish we could have got a better look at her when she was foolin` around in the floating mountain lab. Also I would like to remind everyone that her career began long before LOST (the Fast And The Furious was her breakthrough role). I think any girl that can handle a gun, cars, and choppers is too cool. For a tomboy she`s as hot as it gets. If I had to choose between a Na`vi and her I don`t think I could do it, I`m too greedy...lol.

Even JC got some things wrong...

I really like Trudy, and even if I would still choose a Na'vi any day, there is no human on Earth (or off it :P ) who I shouldn't choose one over, and Trudy is still amazing and a great character :) - I was sad when she died :'( |
Trudy is the one dead--or *probably* dead, for you doubters--character I wish hadn't died. Others really needed to get out of the way to keep the story moving in the direction it did, IMO. Not Trudy. It would have been great to see her live to be the last vestige of SecOps at a post-apocalyptic Hell's Gate, helping to redeem the place in some small way. They'll need a character like her there.

I agree with the comparison to the marine in Aliens. I see a definite connection there. There's a similarity in their deaths, as well. Both were sort of drawn into their chosen sides of the battle, and both died without a real choice of it.
I'm a definite Trudy fangirl, BTW. There's juat a badass vibe around her that is hard to get over. It would have been nice to see more development of her character, though. The relationship with Norm brought her out, which made her more of a main character in the film. I hated that Michelle got killed off in Lost, as well. I know I'm going to face a "blue wall" for this, but I really liked her character more than Neytiri. There was just something about her that I found odd. Still trying to figure that out. Sorry, Neytiri fans. :) |
Hmmm, after reading many posts, I have to say...
Can we not have a Neytiri vs. Trudy discussion? Our preferences are subjective, and it would be silly if we get into an argument, although we're not doing that yet. I respect the opinion of those who prefer Trudy over Neytiri, even if I don't agree. One thing is certain though. They are both awesome, badass characters. |
