Where Do You Sit?

Where do you usually sit in the theater, and what format (Digital/Film IMAX, RealD, Dolby, etc) do you see it in while sitting there?

I usually sit in the front, close to the screen, in both IMAX, RealD, and Dolby 3D. There are also times where I sit in the middle if it's not too crowded.

In the middle man, there isn't a better place. However with 3D that isn't Imax... no where. I think I focus on the wrong stuff that gives me those mind splitting headaches.

I usually sit in the back, or sometimes in the middle of the theater. I rather have a "global vision" of the screen, if I get too close I have to turn my head to see the rest of the screen.

Moreover, since IMAX theaters do not exist where I live (northern part of Italy), I have to stick with RealD 3D. :(

Since I always go to my local AMC, I always sit exactly in the middle of the third-to-front row of the theater, where the Imax screen fills my entire field of vision. For any regular Imax (non-liemax), it'd depend on where my field of vision is completely engulfed.

For 2D screens, same: gotta fill that field of vision. Watching Avatar 9 times has made me an experienced movie-goer like never before. I want absolutely no distractions when watching. No corner-of-the-eye mishaps or anything like that. Just complete, straight-on watching. If I feel like I'm there, I'll like the movie more, no matter what it is.

...I'm guessing this is why I absolutely loved Alice more than most people I meet anywhere. :shy:

I don't want to have to bend my neck at all cos it gets uncomfortable after a while. Also if you sit off to the left or right, the screen skews and one side of the screen ends up being bigger than the other (merely due to perspective) and that is annoying. So, right in the middle is good :)

Middle 's the best IMO!

I always sat in the middle, towards the front part (realD 3D).
Saw it in IMAX once, I also sat around the middle.

I always sit in the middle of the back row (except when I saw Sherlock Holmes and moved because of the obnoxious teenagers next to me). I find that this generally puts my eye-level at about halfway up the screen and gives me the fullest view.

When I go to my local theatres (AMC) I generally see 2D films, though I've seen several in RealD. I've only ever been to IMAX at science museums.

Middle, get the best sound and bets picture.

With AVATAR IMAX 3D it was "Wherever there's room." Note: that's the only format I've seen it in.

1st Showing: Right in the middle (both horizontally and vertically) since my friends and I got there 2 hours in advance

2nd Showing: Front-Lower-Left since that's all that was left

3rd Showing: Middle-Lower, again, that's all that was left.

for imax, middle, for realD 3D as close as i can get to make the screen fill up my feild of view

Im spoiled by imax xD

I always sit in the middle - and to the people who voted ' the back '. Please do yourself a favor and try booking a ticket for the mid row next time... its so much better, and i speak out of experience.

It's the same reason for why people always fight for the middle row in ' live theater '...

Depends on the type of theatre and type of movie.

- For old style theatres, as far back as possible.
- For stadium-style theatres, absolute middle.
- For 3D movies in a stadium-style theatre, middle more towards the back.

Of course, my local theatre has "VIP seating" for some movies. They have an upstairs balcony with wide leather recliners, ****tails and food for an extra $4. It's only available on 4 of the screens, though, so only usually new releases, but if that's available that's always what I do.
