James Cameron Interview

Here is a recent interview with James Cameron.

It mainly focuses on what it felt like to pioneer 3D movie tech and his recent work with BP to stem the oil flowing into the Gulf of Mexico

Interesting. Especially this, I think

MS. SWISHER: Now you have gotten everyone to use 3-D. What do you think of this happening all of a sudden?

MR. CAMERON: It is all driven by market forces. The second the movie industry saw that 3-D was really here and it was viable and that there were enough theaters to support multiple releases—which is the next stage we have to get to—and saw a string of successful films all in 3-D, then there was a rush.

There is going to be a period of time where we stand a serious risk of debasing the coinage. It is going to be really incumbent on studios to put quality first. Otherwise, the business model is not going to have longevity.
Certainly interesting, and very true, I think... Ever since Avatar, there have been so many badly post production converted films just to add 'IN 3D!!1111' to the film, which really doesn't get the point that 3D is a new way to watch films WHEN DONE PROPERLY, and not just a gimmick, or a way to make more money.

I know. In fact, I am tired of "3D" already because the movie makers are tacking it on after they have made the movie. The only other movie that I have seen in 3D after Avatar was Alice in Wonderland. I will not see a movie in 3D unless it was originally made in it and is good. Its just to expensive to go to every 3D movie.
