Spirited Away!!!

Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi (2001)

Whatever the reviews say, it's my hands down the 3rd favourite movie of all time! Amazingly amazing!

I watched some other basic animes like Mononoke, Ghost in The Shell etc. and liked it, but this was just pure awesomeness. :D

Devourment 06-14-2010 07:37 PM

For me, there will be only one.

Mother of the Forest 06-15-2010 04:41 AM

I really have too many favorites, but The Twelve Kingdoms really stands above many for me. <3 If you haven't seen it, I recommend it. I also recommend the The Twelve Kingdoms books, upon which the anime was based.

When I said books, I did mean books! Lol...As far as I know, there is no Twelve Kingdoms manga...Anyway! The books themselves are hard to come by, so I would try and look online if you're really interested :).

Yeah, an Anime thread is very nice. :)

I watch Anime since the early 90's and all began with the series
"Attack No. 1", "Berusaiyu no bara" and "The Kickers".

I have many beautiful memories when I think of this.

My alltime favourite Anime movies are:

1. All studio Ghibli creations, like Mononoke Hime, Totoro, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki's Delivery Service
2. Grave of the Fireflies :'(
3. Nausicäa of the Valley of the Wind
4. Jubei Ninpocho: The Wind Ninja Chronicles
5. Hakkenden shin sho
6. Golden Boy
7. Crying Freeman
8. Lily C.A.T.
9. Hokuto no ken
10. La Blue Girl (a joke of course) ;)

Wow! Some Anime I haven't heard of! lol

I've almost read all of number three and I've seen most of the episodes for number four. All the others I've never heard of! I should go check them out :P

Fkeu 'Awpo 08-04-2010 04:30 AM

I guess it's not technically anime (wikipedia says "Japanese animation" soooo, yeah), but Resident Evil: Degeneration was awesome.

To be honest, never really been a big fan of anime, but I must admit, I absolutely loved Appleseed. Was looking up the Halo Legends (speaking of which.. f*cking drop pods, how do they even work?!) wiki, after watching them, and I was like "Hmm, wonder what else these guys made..." Just finished the first, going to watch the sequel (Appleseed:Ex Machina) later.

IMO, best part of the movie:

BRIAREOS..... PUNCH.

http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/1...ooooonnnch.gif

But god damn, these two are so gay for each-other it hurts...

Especially Hitomi. With the way she says things like, "Your bedroom is right here. It must be ages since you've slept in a warm bed..." "I just know you're going to love it here - our little utopia.." Maybe it's her squeaky voice. Maybe it's all her "teehee"s. I'm not sure.

Deunan, she's just kind of butch. She's badass and all, but who dresses like this? XD

Holy necropost batman, get the shotgun.

I dislike most anime, and I hate most of the english dubs for them.

I guess the ones I like are really just most of the Gundam animes, but mainly Seed and Wing.

I remember watching Gundam Wing after getting home from school in 5th grade.

Well SORRY!

I've never seen any Gundam. I've heard good things though.

fierox 05-31-2011 05:17 PM

hmmm i still like princess mononoke the most.

Think i like the bit older anime movies over the more modern stuff/series (ones i have seen anyway).
Some i find over the top or too stretched out.
A few out of my head that i really liked:
Akira, Vampire hunter D, Ninja scroll, Bebop that kinda stuff.

Also saw The girl who leapt through time recently, liked that one aswell.

Was watching Full Metal Alchemist with a friend a few days ago, thought it was pretty good but a tad bit "sad" for my taste.

iron_jones 07-05-2011 05:29 AM

And how could anyone forget this:

http://i51.tinypic.com/2bqw4k.jpg

5 Centimeters Per Second

Best anime ever made in my humble opinion.

txim_asawl 07-07-2011 01:21 PM

Well, I have quite a list of favourite anime... and several of them share a trait: original score composed by Yoko Kanno...

Series/OVA:
  • Cowboy Bebop
  • Earth Girl Arjuna
  • Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex & SAC 2nd Gig
  • Wolf's Rain
  • X 1999
  • Noir
  • Hellsing Ultimate OVA
  • Angel Sanctuary OVA
  • Death Note

The first five have music by Yoko Kanno. In the Hellsing Ultimate OVA, one famous singer of songs composed by Yoko, Maaya Sakamoto, performs as Rip van Winkle and sings the song "Oh diese Sonne" from Carl Maria von Weber's opera "Der Freischütz" - in German with a cute Japanese accent.
:)

Movies:

Anything from Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Nausicaä, Castle in the Sky, etc.)

Wiggling bare toes,

Just finished watching Clannad. You all have to watch it. made me cry like a bitch. MOE MOE MOE!

iron_jones 09-01-2011 06:31 AM

The lack of action in this thread upsets me.

Moco Loco 09-01-2011 06:37 AM

Oh right! I was in here and I saw Clannad, thought parts were pretty funny but generally I found it to be slow paced. Lost focus a lot :/ but hey, I'm no anime connoisseur.
