Totally depends on what you like.
But some classics are:

5 Centimeters Per Second
Angel Beats!
Whisper of the Heart
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
Summer Wars
Bakemonogatari
Beck - Mongolian Chop Squad
FLCL
Paprika

Those are just some random ones that people seem to like a lot. But if you tell me what genres you like I'd be happy to give you some reccomendations :)

iron_jones 09-02-2011 07:47 PM

Actually... use these:

A bunch of those are manga.

iron_jones 09-03-2011 05:42 AM

Yeah I know, but watch the anime ones.

Found some more charts. I personally love the very artsy and obscure anime. And I find these charts to be very helpful when I don't know what to watch next.

Nice charts, I'm sure they'll help :D
Since I haven't seen a bunch of anime (maybe only familiar with about seven tops), I can't say for sure, but genres I like anyway are scifi, horror, or if the story isn't extremely fantastical, food, travelling, gender switching :P

You'd probably like Claymore, Mononoke, or Texhnolyze.
Maybe Elfen Lied and Voices of a Distant Star.

For the gender switch I'd recommend Kampfer, Sora no Otoshimono (there's only a bit).

I'm more of a Slice of Life/Romance/Comedy fan so I don't watch too much of the sci-fi stuff but check some of that stuff out.

I was gonna add it to my backlog of anime to watch then I realized it's 25 episodes and I do NOT have time for that.

Crickett 12-18-2011 05:13 PM

As far as action goes, my favorite is by far.

First time I saw it I thought it was lame.
Second time, I cried like a bitch.

I am not mush.

I have to update this thread with a golden oldie that I used to watch a lot as a kid. :D

Oh yes you are. All it is is some kids and their personal emotions, with long pauses in between actions. Kind of sucked.

I liked Zoids new century zero when I was younger. That was the first time I learned anime shows usually end way too early. They finally get to the big leagues and are going to celebrate by going on a vacation.

I thought that was the end of the season.

It was the end of the show.

I was pissed.

Naw man I know what you mean. Wolf's Rain was like that.
I did end up watching a tiny bit of Zoids, New Century Zero but I only got to see a few episodes. >.<
I just saw the list of episodes. Zoids: Chaotic Century has 67 episodes and Zoids: New Century only has 26 which is way too short.

Watch your mouth!

You like Star Trek... so you have no right to judge my taste in anime.

I'm sure you'd be a fan of K-On....

Moco Loco 01-13-2012 02:05 AM

I want to make this very clear: You're using Star Trek as an example of bad taste?

WTF is even happening in that video? If that is your best example of whatever that series is, it's not even going on my list :P

It's K-On... that's all you need to know... or maybe this will be to your liking.

iron_jones 06-28-2012 04:28 AM

Just finished watching "Sora no Otoshimono: Tokeijikake no Angeloid"

It's the movie based on the Sora no Otoshimono series. Was really good, nothing really happened until the last quarter of the movie though and the ending really let me down.

Would recommend.

μμ... *inhaaaaales*

Grave of the Fireflies
NGE
Sailor Moon xD
Elfenlied
Ergo Proxy
Perfect Blue
Blue Submarine No. 6
Death Note
GitS
Blade of the Immortal (only the Manga, though)
... err...
and a lot more I forgot, haha. ~.~

Need to watch more Anime again. *nods*

And never... never ever... say that Star Trek would suck. If you do... Nagilum and Q shall rip out your guts and eat them for breakfast. If you don't like it - fine. But never ever say the bad word in direct context with ST. *grunts*

Just finished "Children Who Chase Lost Voices From Deep Below" Also known in Japan as "Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo"

The newest movie from Makoto Shinkai, who also created and directed "5 Centimeters Per Second" & "The Place Promised In Our Early Days".

This movie is nothing short of a masterpiece. The artwork is breath taking and the story is rich and beautiful.

Oh, it's entertaining for sure... and the German dubbed version has a funny twist to it, since the guy dubbign the main character, Light Yagami, also does the German dub voices for Zach Braff (J.D. in "Scrubs") or Ashley Zukerman (Lucas Taylor in "Terra Nova")... he also voiced the German version of the eBay TV commercial with Donovan's Sunshine Superman as background music.

Here's samples of the German dub voices in Death Note (just to show you, how funny anime can sound in German) :-D :

Interesting.
I honestly have enough trouble using an english dub. I think a German one would make it even harder :P

"Colorful is like a secret place of solitude that helps a person recuperate into humanity and society. It is like a living photograph of all the places you go, both inside yourself and in the world beyond, to meditate on what's important and who you are within the fragments of life. Sometimes being given a second chance and a different perspective is all it takes to see the world in a brand new light."

A few months ago I went to the library and checked out the one show I never thought I would see again in my life since I was 6: Gundam Wing.

I remember the toonomi line up when I was a kid in the evening;

Sailor moon, Reboot, Dragon Ball Z, Gundam wing.

Now that I watched the entire Gundam Wing seires from the library start to finish, I can say it was the greatest seires I have seen in my life.

Also I watched another animia called Heroic Age from the library and it was pretty good as well.

Ah, yes. Heroic Age was aired in 2007, I believe. I've heard good things.
