Latest Sequel Update From Typepad.
The Avatar blog over at typepad has 2014 as being the year for the sequel and why it won't be called 'Avatar 2'. This post was done on June 6, so it's fairly recent. There are two links within the article for some of his quotes from March at the Visual Effects awards.
One funny quote was from Stephen Lang... Quote:
(if someone already posted this article, I didn't see it.) |
Wow 3-4 years huh? Thats pretty long. But Im very very estatic that Cameron is staying on, for someone else to direct the sequel to such a beautiful masterpiece is not only strange but completely awful to think about it. Cameron's mind is a beautiful thing, and I hope to see him go thru all the way with the films.

There was a question whether or not he'd direct a sequel? wtf? That doesn't even make sense... Avatar is his creation, it's in his brain! How could anyone else direct???
|
for him not to direct?? wow the movie surely wont be the same!! and 3 to 4 years?? wow thats along time :( lol

It was already known to be 3-4 years, so 2014 doesn't surprise me. I do hope Quaritch doesn't come back though, it would really ruin the importance of his death :( |
I don't think the person who wrote that has been paying much attention to the sequel news. At least, not as much attention as we all have been. A lot of that seems quite old news to me.
But I suppose when there is only a few new bits of info, you have to pad it out a bit :D I can't wait. And I wouldn't let anyone other than JC direct it either |
If Quaratch and Grace Are going to be in the movie, I don't think Thy will be reserected. In my oppinion, They will appear in Jake's dreams or prehapes in flash backs.

This is an old article.

This is the latest news from the mouth of J. Michael Straczynski at Comic Con (paraphrased of course)"
'Cameron won't be directing Forbidden Planet because he's working on the next Avatar movie.' There ya go folks.. good news and bad news. Depending on your point of view. |
I'd say that's awesome news! :D
|
yeeeeesssss and nice to see some polish folks J. Michał Straczynski
|
That's the news I want to hear ;)
|
JMS has been around...

Polish doesn't even come up in any conversation with him. It's all comics and Babylon 5. ::sigh:: I'm hoping they don't screw up Forbidden Planet. |
Forbidden Planet is derived from Shakespeare's 'The Tempest'. Terry Pratchett once said that if you could turn the Tempest into Forbidden Planet you should be able to apply the same principle to back-engineer a Shakespeare play from James Cameron's Aliens.
|
Well that's rather foolish.
That was a direct line of 'modernizing' a story, the same for West Side Story being a 'modern' version of Romeo and Juliet. Those have a direct connection. 'Back engineering' is trying to fit a modern story into a possible source plot. Doesn't always work. Anyway. Not the point of this thread, but there ya go. |
