I love my school, one of my teachers has an Avatar poster, one has a small figurine, and one has a small holographic sticker on her door.

7.8 billion years from now, our sun will die. If we make the right decisions now, our ancestors will be so far beyond our solar system that they won't even notice. Or, we could go extinct.

It took .000000001 that amount of time to go from the first airplane flights to landing on the moon. I'd be absolutely shocked if in 1000 years we couldn't colonize other planets if we wanted (though of course I'll never live to see it :) )

So in millions of times that long? I think we're almost infinitely more likely to die of something else.

Staying on one planet is an "Eggs in one basket" situation, even if it does take billions of years for that to happen. Going out into space though, at least theoretically, then the only limitation is the heat death of the universe.

Heat Death? Last time I checked the theory was an infinite expansion and a "Big Chill" as the stars slowly die out. I guess it all comes back to the question of fire or ice, eh?

Those pesky cosmologists never can make up their minds about anything. :P

That is the heat death :P - a state of maximum entropy where energy is completely evenly distributed.

Ah, I thought you were reffering to the big crunch, a literal heat death. If dark matter's force weakens over time, the universe collapses in upon itself, squeezing the same amount of entropy into a smaller and smaller space. Just the background radiation would be a few hundred thousand Kelvin.

Back from Ukraine as some has seen I'm sure ;) Was hell lot of fun! An extra week of school work to catch up with, but damn was it worth it! :) Made some new friends back there and memories which I will never forget. Won't hesitate if another exchange project comes up in school :)
