Physical attraction to Na'vi
 

This was mentioned on IRC recently, and I was thinking about it...

The Na'vi are perfect. Physically, they're everything people want, from their queue and the real deep connection that gives them as a result, to their perfect blue skin... They also have an ideal philosophy, such as how they don't hide their bodies like humans do, going for the minimum that is actually protection, the body shouldn't be something to be ashamed of like humans are conditioned to be... They have such beautiful eyes, those ears, and of course a tail... There are so many amazing things that would be done with a tail, it makes me sad we don't have them...
The Na'vi are perfect physically as well as in how they live, and I would give anything to be like them... :(

are they also perfect mentally? i damn well hope so.. lol

They don't seem to be perfect mentally. They have many human traits, such as jealousy and also act without thinking of the consequences when the navi fighting the humans even when they were warned that could not beat them in that situation (I know other factors were at play here, with jakes betrayal). They may be harmonious but are quick to react in situations. Neytiri would have killed jake if it wasn't for eywas sign after all...

Sadly the Na'vi aren't perfect and JC made that so there could be a movie. Physically, they're ideal but not perfect, their values are ideal but not perfect and their morals are ideal but again, not perfect.

Sorry to be overly critical, it's more of a clarification than a correction. :)

The Na'vi are beautiful even though thay are 10 feet tall and have a tail. In my opinion the reason why we think they're beautiful is because the na'vi look like creatures from a beautiful painting. Also I agree with you HMN, their not afraid to show their body unlike Humans to show their physical beauty.

Yeah but have you seen the other Na'vi? They aren't the most attractive. Not in comparison to Neytiri or Jake.

Perhaps, but I don't see that as a bad thing, especially not when fighting the humans to protect everything...

Exactly :P which is why Neytiri and Jake are really the only [imo] attractive Na'vi. lol

I agree with Dreaming on that part.
No offense, but what I see is a Human who is ashamed of he's body and wishes he had another, of a fictional species. I know, sad but true.

It's common for a Human to dream up something 'perfect' in their eyes, (i have many times) it just so happens that the big JC showed his vision to the world.

AND, Na'vi are like humans in several ways in their ideals:

1: They protect their interests fiercely, even when under the odds.
2: They are rascist. Yeah, very racist. To humans that is. I don't see the Na'vi trying to make peace. Do you?
3: Big community. Well, they're not the same now, but think about old times. Like the American Indians, and Medievil Europe. (big families)
4: Monopoly over most of the planets resources. Come on, that's simple.

2: they are not racist! humans attacked them before, so they are not exactly fond of their presence

4: in which way? they don't need unobtanium, and if you're talking about food (flora/fauna), they eats as much as the animals, there is balance, while on earth we are heavily overpopulated, hence the monopol on the resources

I believe that some of the negative character traits didn't exist until the humans showed up on Pandora and had interaction with the Na'vi. But as their physical body goes, it's perfectly suited for life on Pandora. I guess it depends on how you look at things if you find them perfect or not. But in my mind, I see them as perfect:)

Hmmm...I'm confused. Are those Na'vi that go with Jake up Iknimaya just there to watch him? Or claim Ikran for themselves...

Yes, they are choosing their Ikrans too :)

Yeah, the "extras" were made so that they wouldn't compete with the main characters by either being um, somewhat...unfortunate-looking or having generic features. Note pictures below:

That's a pretty big change in attitude--going from being ready to cut his queue off to celebrating his success in taming his ikran! I wonder why that is.

After looking at these pictures and others, I've come to the conclusion that Jake is more "Na'vi-looking" than the other avatars. It's also interesting to see the same characters reappearing in different scenes. I wonder if they'll have bigger parts in the second film. That'd be awesome :D
