Sex- Where Should The Line Be Drawn?

Movies, Television, Music and Tablodes. It's everywhere!

Sure it can be expressed for Human Nature, beauty and love, but mostly what happens is that it is expressed too often, too far and in just revolting manors- and some people think it's OK.

I Apsolutely don't like sex being the main thing in Comadies because I think it's just wrong to laugh at something totally uncalled for. An example of what I hate is "Family guy" (Yes, I Have the guts to say no to it.) I just thing Sex and animation don't go together at all.

When I'm at school, quite alot of kids just gossup about it almost all the time: Like who had better sex last night and about poron. And alot of kids use the word "Rape" as a suppstitute for beat-up. That just sickens me.

However I am not totally agenst it. I believe it does show values of bueaty and love when it is not used in a disturbing manor. Like in some serous themed movies, it can express love and emotion. I belive that sex can be used in movies and tv shows moderatly and at a steady level to satisfy some of the urges that we have (lets face it, alot of us here would just growl for Neytiri).

When sex is shown in its true, emotional form, I have nothing against it being shown anywhere.

However, when it comes down to nothing but making money our of our sexual urges - it is something I strongly oppose.

That is me right there. Sex is for expressing beauty, not for making money.

It annoys me when my friends talk about sex in the ways they do.... They think of the outside feelings of it rather than the inside feelings.. If that makes any sence? :S

Eltu 07-06-2010 11:49 PM

Yup, I know exactly what you mean, and completely agree.

My classmates does that all the time, and it annoys me equally.

When your classmates talk about that sh** that's when you pull one of these.

I hate this too. Some of my friends speak about sex not mentioning any emotional level, only physical feeling. I seriously hate(well, I don't argue but feel bad) when soone tells me that he/she likes to have sex with soone else without knowing the person well (first day sex, on the party etc), or what is the worst example - just because some physical need for it...
Maybe I am too "old fashioned"(but I am not old in age :D ), I don't know, but I somehow feel incompatible with majority of society.

recently, there has been a commercial for a refrigerator featureing a lovely woman in a short black dress and red stilettos.

using sex to sell appliances

if you think that anyone has gone too far, then ask yourself if sex gets your attention, and you'll know if they haven't gone far enough

Sex is part of our daily lives. It's necessary for our continued existence. While I find people making fun of such things sick in my vision, I see no logical reason why they can't.

Your not alone, I feel the same way but I try not to let it get to me.

Mhm. So is diarrhea. But I wouldn't classify it as a source for entertainment.

Sex as entertainment is wrong. Sex as a part of explaining some part of a story in film is an entirely different ball game. If showing some sort of sexual activity is a vital (or supplementary, yet essential) part of a plot to a storyline in a movie, by all means. Show it. Does it need to be as explicit as "Monster's Ball" or as unnecessary as "Domino"? No. It doesn't.

By the way, Family Guy is trash.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who feels this way about sex and the way it's used in our society. I view sex as an *almost* sacred act. I very strongly dislike when people have sex just for meaningless fun and not for love. But I understand why they do it and try not to judge.

Agreed. I used to like it, but it just sucks now. I don't even like the old episodes anymore, even though I used to enjoy them quite a bit.

Stanley_9875 07-07-2010 04:15 AM

sex is a beautiful thing, but you have to be careful

I believe sex outside of marriage is wrong, and sex should be between a man and a woman, and no other outside party. Which is why I strongly dislike sex on TV, ads, music, ect. Is discussions like this about sex wrong? absolutely not.

Now rape, that just sickens me... literally sickens me. And yea, what really annoys me is people bragging about how many women they've done. In my class at college, there's a guy always bragging about the girls he's done over the weekend, and its like, "really? do you have no self respect or respect for others?"

But is sex wrong or bad? HECK NO! Its a beautiful thing, and I can't wait for me to receive it with my life partner :)

Im a bit in the middle here. I enjoy shows like Two and a Half Men, and older episodes of things like Family Guy. Also, while I do not always agree with how openly sexual things are shown around the world for all eyes it does get our attention, which is what it is meant to do.

That said I am also against the ones who just go around doing anything that walks. One of my roommates is like that. He is a really cool guy but he just wants to have sex with lots of different women. Im not that way and never could be, sex is something much to special to just flaunt around imo.

We all have our urges and desires, but its the actions we pursue that really says who we are.
