I think all the Na'vi can be scary when they want to be, but ultimately they are a gentle and peace loving people. They only become fierce when they need to defend thier people or the land. Neytiri is no different.

Jake mellow? I don't know about that. He was mellow and carefree at the beginning, but as he spent more time with the Na'vi, he underwent his great transformation, and became just like one of them. By the time he became Toruk Makto he was no longer mellow Jake, he was Warrior Jake. Fearless and ruthless in the defence of his people the Na'vi; but this does not mean he has lost all of his original personality.
