I like Opera because it just feels like there's so much more space. The bar at the top with all the tabs and sh*t is only like half an inch wide. Those mouse gestures are pretty handy, too. Also, I've never had Opera crash on me, even with the 15 or 20 tabs I always seem to have open.
As for themes, yeah, I did like that about firefox, but I don't really miss it. I'm usually looking at the webpage more than the browser. |
hmmm.... ELTU CAN IT ABOUT OPERA!!!!!!!!!!! and windows vista/chrome
|
Why can it? Opera's great.
|
Because its tiresome to read your defense of Opera, its peoples opinions of their favorite browser thread, not, Eltu try to convince eveyone Opera is the best browser thread. Let people post theif fav. browser and leave it be!

Its a debate thread. Its for debating. If your not debating. Ur doin it wrong. FF is best. |

Um, no. This is a DEBATE thread. The whole POINT of the thread, is to convince others that their favorite browser is the best. It's not just a "name your favorite browser" thread. It's browser WAR. ;) |
oh, but still lol
|
Not "but still".
Firefox can be whatever you want it to be. Opera is nice, but FF is capable of perfection. |
i shall download this 'opera' and see which is better.
|
Firefox is perfect. Why?
Cos foxes are awesome. :D |
Interesting...argument.
|
To be honest all mentioned above web browsers are good each one in different way, even IE.
From security wise perspective every one have some weakness ;p Yet i think that web browser who working in sandbox totally isolated from system is something better like chrome :D |
Here comes the ultimate fence sitter...
As far as i'm concerned, I really don't care. If it offers me access to the internet, it's done. That'll do me just fine. I personally don't see all the fuss about Firefox this or Opera that... They all do the same basic function don't they? (And from what i've seen, all at roughly the same speed. (This is going to come back and bite me in the ass isn't it?)) |
I don't know, I sort of have the same viewpoints as you, Fkeu'itan. I just use Chrome because it was set as my default, I just really use the first one I can click on, I've got all of them. The only reason I use Chrome is because... Well, I don't know. The bookmarking system is good? Pff. I don't really care about which one I use...
Truth be told, I fell in love with Firefox when Adblocker was released. I don't know why I don't use it. |

And cars all do the same basic function too, right? Taking you from one place to another? :P Imagine browsing the Internet without tabs. That's significantly reducing your ability to do things. It's the same with different browsers. It can make all the difference. For me, Opera gives me an ability to browse the web in a much more efficient way. It provides functions that makes things so much easier, it's really fast, and... well, for a complete list of reasons see my first post. ;) |

Indeed. :D
|
Hmm...
Well, seeing as every browser now has tabs, I don't see why it's better myself. Maybe speed-wise? But even then, another 2 seconds of waiting isn't going to kill me... It just seems that whatever one browser gets that's all new and wonderful, all the others get in a couple of days, so why even bother to switch? Like mune, I just use the default of whatever computer i'm using. And yeah, it's the same with cars, and phones, and well vitually anything. I'm just content to get by with something that servers the purpose personally. |
The tabs were a metaphor - some NEW functions, equally important for me as tabs, I have found in Opera.
|
Ahh I see.
Functions such as...? |
Primarily, the enhanced search function, and mouse gestures.
See my first post in the thread for details. ;) |
Right, ok then... :)
Hmm... well, they're things that don't really matter to me personally, but if you feel you need them, that's cool. I don't mind taking the scenic route. :) |
Each to their own. ;)
|
I'm using Firefox. Why? I am used to it, I don't miss any features and Ilike the interface and plugin system. That's it :D
|
I'm a Chromium user. (Chrome without integrated h.264) for a few reasons:
- It is a natural part of the operating system I use; Kubuntu. - It is automatically being updated to the latest version. - It is open-source. - All my bookmarks and also the browser theme are synced between computers via my Google account. - It has a very good functionality, while still being the easiest to use browser I have ever used. - It is fast. IE 8 for laptop (because I couldn't be arsed getting a new one)
Opera for mobile (because speed and compression make a difference when you're being charged for data usage) |
Ok, I downloaded Opera now, all this talk about it got me curious :)
I have the problem that I can't make up my mind wich one I like the most... I usually use Chrome (cause of the lightweight thing and also firefox crashes more) but when I work (making webpages) I usually use Firefox beacause it have some plugins I need (I was positivly surprised that opera had the "inspect element" built in by default :P), and also I like "open recently closed tab" and som other stuff. I only use IE to check my webpages... Soooo, let's se if Opera can win my heart ;) Oh, and by the way, can someone tell me more about theses "mouse gestures"? |
I use Firefox for a simple reason. It's reliable.
In the end, that's all that matters. |

But the good thing about firefox is if you WANT those, you can add them. |
downloaded opera...
didn't like it before it was running... the installer allows no customization(shortcuts,location,import...) running it now... how do i block ads? i'll be back with more questions and such. my current favorite thing: accel and decel on the scroll wheel. |
I downloaded Opera, too, and I think I'll be using it until Firefox 4 comes out (I like new stuff :)).

I really don't understand why people want to block ads.
Ads are there for a reason - they provide money for the people who run the site, and by doing so, makes the site (hopefully) last longer. When I visit a site that I like, I even click the ads there now and then, to show my support for the site. I mean, it's not that hard - and as a web developer I know how much ads can mean for a website. If I visit a site I don't like - well, then I don't visit the site, of course. No need to block ads on a site I don't like. So... out of curiosity - why do you want to block ads? |
Why do we want to block ads?! Is that a question? I know why I would block out ads.
|
Yes, it's a question. I'm curious. Why? ;)
|
Well I have no idea how important ads are for a website but all I know is that they're everywhere and sometimes they can freakin get on my nerves, especially those "partypoker.com". Even with pop-up blockers on they still get through. >.<
|
Well, pop-ups are one thing, and ALL web browsers have automatic pop-up blockers. And yes, they seriously interrupt workflow so I understand if people want to block these (I do it myself)
But banners, ads on the webpages, etc - there is no reason to block those... |
Well I can tolerate them to a degree but they are some websites now that are putting sound into their ads which is annoying.
|
Well, then you simply have to block websites from making sounds.
Opera has a feature for that. ;) No need to block out all ads altogether. |
