Na'vi Songs
Lyrics from a complex Na'vi weaving song,
Tompayä kato, tsawkeyä kato, Trrä sì txonä S(ì) ayzìsìtä kato, Sì’ekong te’lanä, Te’lanä le-Na’vi Oeru teya si, Oeru teya si. Katot täftxu oel Nìean nìrim, Ayzìsìtä kato, ’Ìheyu sìreyä, ’Ìheyu sìreyä, Sìreyä le-Na’vi Oeru teya si, Oeru teya si. unofficial translation ( notice me if i make mistake ) The rhythm of rain and sun Of night and day, The rhythm of the years, And the beat of the hearts, Hearts of the People Fills me, Fills me. I weave the rhythm In yellow and blue The rhythm of the years, The spiral of the lives, The spiral of the lives, Lives of the People Fills me, Fills me. |
I could jam out to that :)
These are how the songs actually sound (they're on the score) |
I tried to find the lyrics and translation to the song being sung during Jake's first flight. The lyrics I found (at a stupid lyrics.com type site) just had the two letter sounds that were sung. So if there were actual Na'vi words, they were broken up phoenetically.
I remember seeing the translation of one song somewhere a while ago but can't find it now. The weaving song I did see in the Survivalist Guide but nothing else. Anyone have a better source? |
|
Thanks for the link!
It does sound like Jake's first flight is also the prayer at the Tree of Souls. I'm getting an idea on doing an English version of it based on what little translation people have done. I just know I saw that prayer song translated somewhere! Going to have to go look at some books in the bookstore. |
I've found some lyrics here --> Song lyrics from the Avatar soundtrack , reply #53 ... I had been looking for the lyrics at the end of Jake's First Flight (~3:38), and in my opinion ... this one is quite good ! :)
UTRAL LENAWMÄ AYRINA NGAY OER Tree great's seeds true to me UTRAL LENAWMÄ AYRINA LU AYOER Tree great's seeds are to us A PXEYÄ TÍTXUR FPI NA MA KÍYÄ ÍM AYOE which three's strength for sake of like go behind us I didn't do this translation :P :D |
I think I can figure out what it means from that. It's difficult to do translations just going by the words as they're presented. This is true of any language really, the context and other grammatical situations makes a difference in how it is interpreted.
Thanks! |
Very nice :D

The Tree Song has to be it... thanks for those lyrics! It's just one of those things that drives you nuts in the back of your mind but really isn't that important.
(I just noticed...is Quaritch wearing a ring???? Look at that sig picture...) |

Oh beautiful songs !
Thanks, I finally got to know the words completely! :) |
And on the topic of songs..something that just occurred to me...
Has anyone translated the song "I See You" into Na'vi?? It wouldn't parse as well but I think most of the words and concepts are right there in the language we've been shown already... whoa. I would do it but I am not that conversant in the language to do it justice, but might go at it anyway. |
Yes, there is a na'vi version of it from in learnnavi.org
"Leona Lewis - I See You" translated into Na'vi |
I was just trying to use the limited translator that I have access to and it wasn't translating all the words so I'm glad someone else was able to do it. The translator program I have doesn't have all the newest words so it wasn't doing a very good job.
Thanks for the link! |
those are beautiful song

Cool, thanks for the translation!!! Great songs.

Txonä Unil Stä'nìyu Rolyusì posted this song on Faccebook. It is the song of the sixth Toruk Makto.

(somebody please explain why I have goosebumps & tears in my eyes? A year after Avatar, & it still has this effect! Pandora is always here it seems... good! :)) Ma Na'vi -ya, any chance for the lyrics to this track: 15 Pandora Deluxe Edition? I suspect it's not the same? Quote:
Would be enormously grateful for any enlightement. Irayo, apache |
I would like to know too... I think it might just be sounds though, as described in the survival guide.
|
I love that sixth Toruk Makto song. It's so memorable and heartwarming. :)
|
I wonder how the tune would be though.

Yes, but it's the same with the start of Jake's First Flight as well - the ending part is an actual song though.

This is the song where the latter part comes from:

(sorry for being a skxawng: please confirm that it is this song, Pandora 15 from Deluxe... is it? I wanted it so much that i am trying to make sure...) P.S. I've just had another look at this thread, & it seems it's ... The Funeral Song???? |
Oh, sorry, I was talking about Jake's First Flight. Pandora seems to just be syllables, like the opening of Jake's First Flight.
|
*sigh* ah well... ok thanks for telling me...

The DVD or the Blu-Ray? I only have the DVD and I don't recall anything being said on it about the songs in the soundtrack.
-Txonä Rolyu |
I have the Collector's Edition DVD and I do totally remember seeing the segment about them being syllables on the soundtrack. It showed the backup singers singing with their headphones on behind a music stand. I cannot recall any times to skip to or which segment it's on but it's on there, I'm pretty sure.
|
Ohhhhhh that! Yeah Iremember the part with the 2 ladies singing...but did James Horner actually say that it's just random syllables in the song? I can't remember what he said
-Txonä Rolyu |
There hasn't been an official mention either way as far as I can remember, but it seems logical from the fact that attempts to match them with words have failed, and the mention of the structure of such Na'vi songs in the survival guide.
|
did anyone put in the disc and see if it's there? cuz I cba atm. :\ I could have sworn Paul said something about being requested by Horner (or someone) for syllables possible in Na'vi for the score. I would totally not make this up and if this turns out to be false, to the mental hospital I go this instant.
