Na'vi Songs

Lyrics from a complex Na'vi weaving song,

Tompayä kato, tsawkeyä kato,
Trrä sì txonä
S(ì) ayzìsìtä kato,
Sì’ekong te’lanä,
Te’lanä le-Na’vi
Oeru teya si,
Oeru teya si.

Katot täftxu oel
Nìean nìrim,
Ayzìsìtä kato,
’Ìheyu sìreyä,
’Ìheyu sìreyä,
Sìreyä le-Na’vi
Oeru teya si,
Oeru teya si.

unofficial translation ( notice me if i make mistake )

The rhythm of rain and sun
Of night and day,
The rhythm of the years,
And the beat of the hearts,
Hearts of the People
Fills me,
Fills me.

I weave the rhythm
In yellow and blue
The rhythm of the years,
The spiral of the lives,
The spiral of the lives,
Lives of the People
Fills me,
Fills me.

Hunter of the Glade 07-30-2010 05:49 PM

I could jam out to that :)
These are how the songs actually sound (they're on the score)

Patrice Maire 09-08-2010 03:11 AM

I tried to find the lyrics and translation to the song being sung during Jake's first flight. The lyrics I found (at a stupid lyrics.com type site) just had the two letter sounds that were sung. So if there were actual Na'vi words, they were broken up phoenetically.

I remember seeing the translation of one song somewhere a while ago but can't find it now. The weaving song I did see in the Survivalist Guide but nothing else.
Anyone have a better source?

Human No More 09-08-2010 10:33 AM

I found this a while ago:

Lyrics - Jake's First Flight

Not much, but it's all I've found :(

Patrice Maire 09-09-2010 03:59 PM

Thanks for the link!
It does sound like Jake's first flight is also the prayer at the Tree of Souls. I'm getting an idea on doing an English version of it based on what little translation people have done.
I just know I saw that prayer song translated somewhere! Going to have to go look at some books in the bookstore.

Petrucho 09-10-2010 04:19 AM

I've found some lyrics here --> Song lyrics from the Avatar soundtrack , reply #53 ... I had been looking for the lyrics at the end of Jake's First Flight (~3:38), and in my opinion ... this one is quite good ! :)

UTRAL LENAWMÄ AYRINA NGAY OER

Tree great's seeds true to me

UTRAL LENAWMÄ AYRINA LU AYOER

Tree great's seeds are to us

A PXEYÄ TÍTXUR FPI NA MA KÍYÄ ÍM AYOE

which three's strength for sake of like go behind us

I didn't do this translation :P

:D

Patrice Maire 09-10-2010 05:00 AM

I think I can figure out what it means from that. It's difficult to do translations just going by the words as they're presented. This is true of any language really, the context and other grammatical situations makes a difference in how it is interpreted.
Thanks!

Human No More 09-10-2010 09:15 AM

Very nice :D

The Tree Song has to be it... thanks for those lyrics! It's just one of those things that drives you nuts in the back of your mind but really isn't that important.

(I just noticed...is Quaritch wearing a ring???? Look at that sig picture...)

I'm not sure what it is. I didn't edit it in, the original picture I used to make this had it but I don't think its a ring. He must have something inside his grip that we can't see.

Fosus 09-28-2010 04:02 PM

Oh beautiful songs !

Thanks, I finally got to know the words completely! :)

Patrice Maire 09-29-2010 05:53 AM

And on the topic of songs..something that just occurred to me...

Has anyone translated the song "I See You" into Na'vi?? It wouldn't parse as well but I think most of the words and concepts are right there in the language we've been shown already...
whoa. I would do it but I am not that conversant in the language to do it justice, but might go at it anyway.

KalaKuival 09-29-2010 03:08 PM

Yes, there is a na'vi version of it from in learnnavi.org

"Leona Lewis - I See You" translated into Na'vi

Patrice Maire 10-06-2010 05:38 PM

I was just trying to use the limited translator that I have access to and it wasn't translating all the words so I'm glad someone else was able to do it. The translator program I have doesn't have all the newest words so it wasn't doing a very good job.
Thanks for the link!

Ean Hufwetulyu 04-27-2011 04:04 AM

those are beautiful song

James of terra 05-01-2011 04:01 AM

Cool, thanks for the translation!!! Great songs.

Txonä Unil Stä'nìyu Rolyusì posted this song on Faccebook. It is the song of the sixth Toruk Makto.

Eywa tamìng nari sanhìka
Amomum poel futa zongyu ayoeyä kxutukip lu
Poel pot munge ne sute ta sanhìka

Eywa reached far across the stars with her mighty hand.
She knew our salvation lay hidden among the enemy.
She brought him from far across the stars to the People.

Eywa ayoeru meuia soli
Eywa ayoeru zong mì hrr tìkinä
Eywa Omatikayaru meuia si

Eywa has blessed us,
Eywa saved us in our hour of need,
Eywa has blessed the Omatikaya

Ke 'amongokx na Na'vi
Eywal pot sleyku na Na'vi

The ayatokirina' identified him to us.
Strong heart dreamwalker,
Passed all tests, became one of the People.
Strong heart dreamwalker,
Na'vi not born of Na'vi,
Eywa made him one of us.
He tried to warn the Omatikaya,
Came out of the fire of Hometree's destruction.
Mighty Toruk bowed to him.

Eywa ayoeru meuia soli
Eywa ayoeru zong mì hrr tìkinä
Eywa Omatikayaru meuia si

Eywa has blessed us,
Eywa saved us in our hour of need,
Eywa has blessed the Omatikaya

Toruk Makto apuve tswamayon,

Fpame' poel ayioangit nìwotx fte ayoeru zivong
Toruk Maktol vrrtepit atswuayon ska'a txepmì

The sixth Toruk Makto flew,
He gathered all the clans.
The dreamwalker prayed to Eywa.
Eywa heard his prayer,
Strong heart dreamwalker,
She protects Her children.
In the hour of our most desperate need,
She sent all Her creatures to save us, at His plea,
Toruk Makto destroyed the flying demon in a great ball of fire.

Eywa ayoeru meuia soli
Eywa ayoeru zong mì hrr tìkinä
Eywa Omatikayaru meuia si

Eywa has blessed us,
Eywa saved us in our hour of need,
Eywa has blessed the Omatikaya

Uniltìranyu alu Toruk Makto

He saved the Tree of Souls,
Fought the evil Olo'eyktan hand-to-hand,
Eywa sent mighty Palulukan to help Toruk Makto.
Now he walks among us,
Strong heart dreamwalker,
Omatikaya Olo'eyktan,
Dreamwalker Toruk Makto.

txantsan... simply txantsan... :):'(
(somebody please explain why I have goosebumps & tears in my eyes? A year after Avatar, & it still has this effect! Pandora is always here it seems... good! :))

Ma Na'vi -ya, any chance for the lyrics to this track: 15 Pandora Deluxe Edition?

I suspect it's not the same?

The lyrics in Na'vi with the translation into English would be the dream come true, but at least an approximate idea will be very helpful, too. This song has been in my head for months now, on & off since April - I really would like to know what it is trying to tell me!

Would be enormously grateful for any enlightement.
Irayo,

Human No More 07-24-2011 07:30 PM

I would like to know too... I think it might just be sounds though, as described in the survival guide.

Pa'li Makto 07-25-2011 06:30 AM

I love that sixth Toruk Makto song. It's so memorable and heartwarming. :)

Moco Loco 07-25-2011 07:45 AM

I wonder how the tune would be though.

I recall James Horner explicitly stating/showing that it was just syllables for that song.

do you mean "Pandora" - 15 on Deluxe Edition, i.e. the one I was asking about? if yes *sigh* :( that's a bummar then. But I would sing even the syllables, would be nice to get them from somewhere. I have been hearing this song in my head for 2 days non-stop  it doesn't let me go!

Human No More 08-02-2011 01:03 AM

Yes, but it's the same with the start of Jake's First Flight as well - the ending part is an actual song though.

that's what I thought: it sounds meaningful, it makes sense, I believe there is at least some part with words, not only syllables. I made it a point to listen to it again yesterday, & I am even more sure now. But I don't know it for a fact :(

Human No More 08-02-2011 11:42 PM

This is the song where the latter part comes from:

Utralä anawm

Na ayvul ahusawnu

Txantsan & irayo HNM! I'll try to sing it today - with the CD - let's see if I get it?:)
(sorry for being a skxawng: please confirm that it is this song, Pandora 15 from Deluxe... is it? I wanted it so much that i am trying to make sure...)

P.S. I've just had another look at this thread, & it seems it's ... The Funeral Song????

Human No More 08-03-2011 07:16 PM

Oh, sorry, I was talking about Jake's First Flight. Pandora seems to just be syllables, like the opening of Jake's First Flight.

apache_blanca 08-04-2011 06:23 AM

*sigh* ah well... ok thanks for telling me...
(bummaaaaar!!!)

About the 6th Toruk Makto song: I didn't write that nor is it on any soundtrack (that I'm aware of). It was written by a user on Na'viBlue.com. I only translated it for him.

then somebody should think of creating a tune to it! Is there anybody out there who writes music? :S

I agree with 'Oma Tirea. As far as I am aware, ALL songs on the Soundtrack besides this are just random syllables. Anyone watch the Extras Disc from James Cameron's AVATAR Collector's Edition?

Txonä Rolyu 08-07-2011 11:26 AM

The DVD or the Blu-Ray? I only have the DVD and I don't recall anything being said on it about the songs in the soundtrack.

-Txonä Rolyu

TireaAean 08-07-2011 10:54 PM

I have the Collector's Edition DVD and I do totally remember seeing the segment about them being syllables on the soundtrack. It showed the backup singers singing with their headphones on behind a music stand. I cannot recall any times to skip to or which segment it's on but it's on there, I'm pretty sure.

Txonä Rolyu 08-08-2011 04:47 AM

Ohhhhhh that! Yeah Iremember the part with the 2 ladies singing...but did James Horner actually say that it's just random syllables in the song? I can't remember what he said

-Txonä Rolyu

Human No More 08-08-2011 11:41 PM

There hasn't been an official mention either way as far as I can remember, but it seems logical from the fact that attempts to match them with words have failed, and the mention of the structure of such Na'vi songs in the survival guide.

TireaAean 08-09-2011 02:15 AM

did anyone put in the disc and see if it's there? cuz I cba atm. :\ I could have sworn Paul said something about being requested by Horner (or someone) for syllables possible in Na'vi for the score. I would totally not make this up and if this turns out to be false, to the mental hospital I go this instant.
