USER POLL: Should posts in Forum Games add to total postcount?

As the title says - should the post we make in the "Forum Games" section show in our total post count?

Continued from:
http://www.tree-of-souls.com/suggest...ame_posts.html

The outcome of this poll will determine what we'll do. Feel free to discuss in this thread.
The poll will stay open for five days.

Isard 08-04-2010 06:35 PM

I'll put no. But in the end, does post count really make that much of a difference?

Davy Jones 08-04-2010 06:36 PM

Not at all ;)

Eltu 08-04-2010 06:39 PM

In my opinion, post count doesn't do ****.

We already know each other here, and respect each other. There is no need to judge anyone else based on their post count.

So I am neutral.

Davy Jones 08-04-2010 06:43 PM

I personally use peoples post counts to create a fair approximate of how active they are, and forum games makes an already somewhat incorrect approximate, very incorrect :P

This
Make a Don't Mind option

Fighter-of-Wars 08-04-2010 07:38 PM

I guess I'm the only one that voted no so far.

I don't mean 'No' as in OMG NO, STOP. I mean, it in a way that it doesn't really matter, we shouldn't judge people either way on how few posts they have or how many, but by the stature of their posts. If someone comes in here and starts posting and we see them having only a couple posts and they start a great thread and we see that they posted it and skip over it but Joe who spends all day on forum games and we see he has a trillion posts starts a thread we all jump to it because we know the name and the thread sucks.

This may seem like babbling and useless nonsense but I really don't care either way if we take them out or leave them, but most everyone here no matter there post count is great in many ways.

But, on the other hand, if we say that we shouldn't judge people based on there post count then whats the point of having a post count?

I dunno, it's a big deal and I don't care either way, but I remember when people got all pissed when they took it out on AF.

I mean no offense or hurt in this just...

I need to stop.

This +...

I don't mind if you put in this rule, if you enforce it in the right places. There are some forum games that are really just general discussion, like the 'Random About Yourself' thread. Not really a forum game at all.

X.,.Pandora.,.X 08-04-2010 10:05 PM

I put no, but it is a "post" count...so shouldnt it include all "posts" made by a user...idk..im neutural.

Na'vi_supporter 08-04-2010 10:23 PM

Post count doesn't say anything about the quality of posts.
I voted no, but just because it's more logical option, "useless" posts shouldn't be included, if we want to play "post count game".

EDIT: But anyway...this not gurantee that other than forum games posts are worth counting. So I really don't know what option is right.

Fkeu 'Awpo 08-04-2010 11:47 PM

Happened to AF, figured it was only a matter of time...

While we're at it, lets make all member usernames the same color. Put the "Admin" or "Mod" or "Donator" status on their profile. Hell, no more cool signatures either. [/notsrs]

You know, I almost thought this was sarcasm. Correctly judge who to talk to? Are you serious? Who does this? Does anyone else do this? Do I talk to our admins because they're admins? Do I talk do the donators just because they supported the website? No, most are cool people. They're fun to talk to. Just because some people are newfags, doesn't mean they're unobservant. You can tell who and who you do not want to talk to based on their posts, not how many of them they have.

I just don't understand why this was brought up in the first place. Woodsprite...really? Has it become that big of a problem?

First Mune with the friends list problem, now this. Why is everybody making a big deal out of nothing? Was it hurting anyone?

Hmm, I guess I'm starting to sound just like the people who /do/ have a problem with these things.

But in the end, I suppose it doesn't really matter. Despite the change, I still spam the AF games every now and then because it's fun.

Eltu 08-05-2010 12:17 AM

I really agree with everything Fkeu 'Awpo said.

Still, if the community wants something, it will happen. After all, ToS is a member's forum. ;)

Helicoradian 08-05-2010 03:33 AM

Voted no, but post count really doesn't mean a thing to me. I don't even think it's worth worrying over to be honest...

Raptor 08-05-2010 04:14 AM

It really doesn't matter, in my opinion. As people before me have said, post count doesn't reflect post quality. But the number of what we might classify as "pointless" posts on forum games would not show on a member's post count. I voted no.

Gunny 08-05-2010 04:20 AM

I agree with what Fkeu said, took my words lol

No, it hasn't. I brought it up just because.

I fully expected everyone to say "no" to my idea (and even mentioned that in my OP on the other topic). But apparently, despite lots of people either not caring, or saying no to the idea, we're still getting a majority in favor of getting rid of the Forum Games posts.

...Why? If you don't want it to happen, don't vote "no". It's no skin off my bones, so why is everyone agreeing that it be done? We've got 5 "yes's" so far... But why? Is everyone just trying to be "logical" or something? If you don't want it to happen, why are you people voting "no"??

Geez, sometimes I can't understand the public mind...

Usually, the "I don't care"-ers vote in favor of the OP, or just go with the majority. Which is silly. If you don't care, don't vote. ;)

Woodsprite 08-05-2010 07:35 AM

Heh... that's kinda sad.

Impressionist 08-05-2010 07:56 AM

And what about our titles? Why should someone be "One of the People" if more than the half of his posts are in the Forum Games cathegory? It's not fair, I think.

I voted no.

Yup didnt vote.

ZenitYerkes 08-05-2010 02:47 PM

I don't actually care; I believe we don't feel superior to anybody because "Hah, I've got 100 more posts than you!" Does it really matter?

I would say keep it, though. Better not to change things that work or don't do harm at all.

Dreaming Of Pandora 08-05-2010 02:52 PM

Honestly, I paid more attention to my post count back on AF, but here I don't even notice it.

Oh and Zenit... Hah, I've got 100 more posts than you! :P

Human No More 08-05-2010 04:32 PM

I really don't mind either way... It's not like number of posts REALLY count for anything, although it IS nice to have the kind of milestones of having been around for a while and made a significant number, but on the other hand, if people DO feel the need to actively increase their count, then they should do it by making posts not just in forum games as well I guess :)

Hunter of the Glade 08-05-2010 06:31 PM

Yes, they should still be posts. If they were not, then hey, people like Hoscaba or Pa'li would not be Toruk Makto, 'and without the Toruk Makto I'd hate to say it but the Tree of Souls would probably have fallen to Quaritch's attack...'

Dreaming Of Pandora 08-05-2010 09:11 PM

Hmmm.. interesting argument.. ^

I'm still Toruk Makto :P ;)

Fkeu'itan 08-05-2010 11:53 PM

I went with yes.

I always thought that postcount didn't matter here, that we went by what people said.

Anyway, as far as i'm concerned, a post is a post and that's all there is to it. I don't judge people by their post count. I do see what you're saying about new members but surely when they see some people have 5000+ posts, yet often say very little in the actual forums themselves, they'll kind of deduce "Oh, they must hang around the games section a lot" and then get back to posting. After all, visitors come here to read, not to look at postcounts. :P

Oh yes and you. Gosh I thought becoming Toruk Makto was quite rare whereas there are several on this very site!

That's pretty much what I figured as well, and I don't mind the uber-huge post counts some have either. ;) But it'd still be easier to keep track of all the posts not made in the games section, for those who keep track at all. :)

Pa'li Makto 08-06-2010 08:30 AM

I voted no.
I had a feeling that Hoscba and I would be mentioned though.
*ducks head*

Woodsprite 08-06-2010 08:38 AM

Are you and Hoscba bf/gf, or bro/sis? Just clarifying since I haven't ever been totally sure.

Dreaming Of Pandora 08-06-2010 09:43 AM

Many apologies if Im wrong but by the way they talk in the forum games, I'd say bf/gf.

Done. ;)

10000 posts will now make you Neytiri Makto.
