New James Cameron Interview! AVATAR Re-release, Sequel info

Marcetsaw posted new interview with Jc. Brand new information about re-release and Av2

Most interesting quotes here / be warned light spoilers /

Quote:

11:20 - Cameron talks about AVATAR 2's current status. He has an overall story arc for 2 and 3, but has some modifications for that after spending some time during the last few months with native tribes in the Amazon basin. Script will be a ways out yet for AVATAR 2.
Quote:

12:04 - He is focusing his writing right now on the AVATAR novel (corresponds to the first film) and that will take him the next couple of months to bang out. Not sure when it will be coming out, perhaps the end of the year or the first quarter of 2011.
Quote:

12:45 - The AVATAR re-release will have 9 extra minutes, not 8 and it will all be CG. No extra footage of live action characters drinking coffee. Rainforest; some at night; a hunt sequence - a lot of flying; high impact action; an emotional scene toward the end has been added back; "the best CG in the film has been added as far as facial performance"; A Na'vi counterattack after the bulldozer attack; more of Grace at the school; adding the Stingbat and Sturmbeast creatures; additional Quaritch final AMP Suit battle shots; more of the glade love scene. It is all on par with the best of the rest of the film. They had lots of footage to choose from and they put back the absolute best scenes and shots they could.

Yee one more additional minute :D and Love scene :P :P :shy:

SO MUCH WIN :D :D :D

Love scene :)

I'm also happy that there won't be any of the extra footage wasted on humans :)

An emotional scene towards the end would be Tsu'tey I guess :'(

I still hope we get the avatars attacking Hell's Gate though...

Patrice Maire 08-07-2010 04:08 PM

YESSSS!!!! I KNEW he had to write the novel for the movie! Oh, the extra scenes will be great too! I was hoping for more shots of a devastated Earth but the CG shots will be a bonus, no complaining there.
I agree: ALL WIN!

X.,.Pandora.,.X 08-07-2010 08:58 PM

It better not be rated R...if it is ill have to kill someone...

Raptor 08-07-2010 08:59 PM

Damn, I'm really hoping that Sylwanin gets mentioned. Maybe we can get that in the school scene.

Palulukan_Taronyu 08-07-2010 09:12 PM

9! Minutes! :d

Palulukan_Taronyu 08-07-2010 09:13 PM

i am so excited! :d

Woodsprite 08-07-2010 09:28 PM

Very excited... only thing that I'm a little disappointed with is how it wasn't indicated if the "Trudy meeting with the Na'vi" scene would be added in, which I was kind of hoping for...

Oh well. Everything else = FANTASTIC FUN! :D

Helicoradian 08-07-2010 10:06 PM

The more you hear about the re-release the better it keeps getting :) And the love scene...

Do want :D

X.,.Pandora.,.X 08-07-2010 10:26 PM

Love scene 5, any other scene 2

Woodsprite 08-07-2010 10:43 PM

You guys think there might be something like an "Ultra Edition/Director's Cut" release only on DVD and Blu-Ray, with even more added scenes?

They will release BD ultimate edition on 4 bd (4x 50 gb or 4x 100 gb :P ), i think we will get a lot more there :P

Human No More 08-07-2010 11:17 PM

4 whole blurays full... DO WANT :D

Vauktu 08-07-2010 11:20 PM

Seeing as how there won't be any additional live-action scenes added to the re-release, I guess it's safe to assume we won't be seeing the attack on Hell's Gate.

rasomaso 08-08-2010 02:14 AM

sounds great but I doubt we're getting any re-release over here :(

ISV Venture Star 08-08-2010 07:47 AM

Don't read the comments on various movie sites discussing this news. It's just depressing. People really, really seem to go out of their way to hate Avatar. :( Honestly, going by the comments on the average film blog or movie forum you would think this is a universally despised failure.

I'm sick of the backlash.

Fosus 08-08-2010 08:59 AM

Cameron is going to make me read books.. :D

I'm not sure, I took 'live action' as meaning no Na'vi at all... e.g. Selfridge and Quaritch. Maybe that's just me hoping it will be there though :(

Raiden 08-08-2010 08:09 PM

Alright!

Looks like I got the scenes I wanted.

That extra part of the love scene is gonna mess with me somethin' fierce.

Hurrrghhh................

I also can't wait for the novel. I love in-universe novelizations of video games and movies.

Mika 08-08-2010 08:52 PM

*sigh* and read this on a day that my P.A.D. has resurfaced!

electrosphere11 08-09-2010 03:26 AM

9 minutes instead of 8!! YAY
