The Real Face of War.

WARNING - This video contains footage of a graphic and disturbing nature that many may find disturbing.

This is not propaganda, this is not fake. This is just one average soldier's story.
This is the truth.

The only people in the wrong here are the armchair generals in the Pentagon who decided keeping this a secret for 3 years would be prudent. The pilot saw what he took to be a clear threat to his life, and the lives of his Apache crew. This wasn't a nasty look, he thought he'd seen assault rifles and an RPG.

If they had been a threat, this would have simply been another ho hum engagement. But it gets attention because its a mistake. It happens. They were in an active combat zone, anybody who ventures there does so at their own risk.

As for the children, **** happens. He did everything he could, and should, to help them get to safety and medical care and should be proud that he did so.

I don't get why the UN seems to beleive that war, while still "terrible" according to them, is some bloodless honorable fight where only soldiers die. That warfare died off centuries ago. We're fighting people who don't wear uniforms, who don't identify themselves, and don't care if civilians get in their way, perhaps even celebrate when they can camouflage themselves amongst the innocent.

Mentally speaking, nobody should take killing easy, however, most soldiers are able to disconnect well enough to get their job done so that others don't have to. That's their real sacrifice, killing so that the rest of us wont be forced to. Sometimes, you get somebody who cannot disconnect well enough, so bravado and the "tough assed" routine are all they have.

War is dirty, dirty business, it always will be, and anybody who thinks it can be done cleanly is an idiot.

Such a thing is indeed very sad and tragic, thank you for bringing it to our attention, Fkeu'itan!

Here are a few thoughts on Peace!

Foundations of World Unity

"Today there is no greater glory for man than that of service in the cause of the "Most Great Peace". Peace is light whereas war is darkness. Peace is life; war is death. Peace is guidance; war is error. Peace is the foundation; war is satanic institution. Peace is the illumination of the world of humanity; war is the destroyer of human foundations. When we consider outcomes in the world of existence we find that peace and fellowship are factors of upbuilding and betterment whereas war and strife are the causes of destruction and disintegration. Consider the restlessness and agitation of the human world today because of war. Peace is health and construction; war is disease and dissolution. When the banner of truth is raised, peace becomes the cause of the welfare and advancement of the human world. In all cycles and ages war has been a factor of derangement and discomfort whereas peace and brotherhood have brought security and consideration of human interests."

In past ages humanity has been defective and inefficient because it has been incomplete. War and its ravages have blighted the world" The promotion of the equality of woman" will be a mighty step toward its abolition and ending, for she will use her whole influence against war. Woman rears the child and educates the youth to maturity. She will refuse to give her sons for sacrifice upon the field of battle. In truth, she will be the greatest factor in establishing universal peace and international arbitration. Assuredly, woman will abolish warfare among mankind."

this clip was shocking, absolutly shocking, at one point, i could see that it was a camera and not a weapon

war is a monsterous thing, sadly, war is part of the human nature, and there is nothing e can do to avoid war, but what we can do, is avoid getting more powerful and deadly weapons

i feel bad for those soldiers, such as this man, i'd give him a big hug, that's for sure

being honest, i actually thought of enlisting at one point in my life

I tend to hold my criticisms of war very harshly due to the costs of war (in lives); but, I think it is important to understand that while these type of situations shown in the video are sad, we have the luxury of viewing it in hindsight. We don't have the stresses these soldiers had while making the decisions they did. This doesn't excuse any particular situation, but it can offer insight into why they occur.

All so completely pointless... :'(

At least there are SOME good people in militaries though, who are prepared to speak out against things like that... that does give me some hope for humanity, I guess.

Ironically, while firing then was wrong, I can see that on the other hand, if people weren't fighting against them in the first place, then one of that would have been necessary... Whatever the criticisms of the reasons for the war, the truth is they did still get rid of a dictator and are at least attempting to set up a stable democratic government :(

Couldn't have said it better. Its a damn shame it happened, but what else can you say? War is a terrible thing :(

Most if not all of the people in the military are just normal people like me and you who decided they want to protect people. :hmm: You need to stop generalizing the military.

Edit: this video was uploaded bye an anti-american/anti-military person. Therefore this is a bit of a byast video. That is clearly a gun, not a camera, no camera is that thin and long. Im not saying that none of this happens, but you guys only see 1 side of the story.

Isard 08-17-2010 01:31 AM

Pandora

The military confirmed it was not a weapon iirc.

X.,.Pandora.,.X 08-17-2010 01:45 AM

What time was it at, i never saw it, and their were weapons, unless they all had these weird cameras.

Isard 08-17-2010 01:56 AM

PANDORA, the official report says there were no weapons.

What you saw was a tripod.

X.,.Pandora.,.X 08-17-2010 01:57 AM

Donde esta this official report?

Isard 08-17-2010 02:00 AM

I cant find a copy, its on wikileaks. The vid is enough. It happened, they were REPORTERS, and the Pentagon covered it up.

While I appreciate you defending the military, do it right and accept facts.

You maybe, I would never do such a thing because I have standards I hold myself to, not to mention I think that the actual need for military in general is actually relatively pointless.

Let me guess, he faked the former soldier's interview too?
(that was sarcasm for all you who don't get it :P )
The video doesn't lie, and I'd assume the guy they interviewed isn't either... if something like that happened and you were part of it, you'd want to get the truth out.

It is pointless, but yet a necessity

Im not saying the video itself is byast, just the way it is presented. He only included certain parts, and probably cut out some parts.
