Avatar Collector's Edition Blu-ray on November 16

Avatar: Collector's Edition will come out on Blu-ray on November 16. This street date and a cover image were revealed on the trailer for A Message from Pandora, an special feature on an environmental campaign in Brazil, produced by James Cameron and to be included in the Collector's Edition Blu-ray.

Quote:

The economics dictated the amount of footage that could be finished and integrated with the movie. "We got the budget to finish these nine minutes [in the theatrical re-release], and we got the budget to finish the 16-minute longer version," explained Cameron, but beyond that, "it didn't make sense to finish all the extra CG and visual effects." This footage will thus be presented in rougher form, as rendered in real time by the virtual camera, whose quality is described by Cameron as similar to that of "an old video game."
So if i reading this correctly it will be 9 min + additional 16 :awesome: or i am totally wrong :(

Although there are things "you will never see," Cameron confirmed that the upcoming "big box set" that his team is now working on will "definitely satisfy the appetite of even the most hard-core fan."
awwwww virtual *hug* to JC :P

Atokirina...

Fosus 08-29-2010 11:05 AM

rutxe.. NO! ATOKIRINA!

Woodsprite 08-29-2010 11:11 AM

Maybe it's just the way the screencap of the box looks to me, but that cover looks kind of ugly with the woodsprites.

Like I said, though, it's probably just the picture quality that makes it look awkward.

ISV Venture Star 08-29-2010 11:28 AM

The picture's highly compressed. Wait for a full res image.

Hunter of the Glade 08-29-2010 01:54 PM

Love the video...very heartbreaking. Good job James.

And November 16'th? Must have. :shoop:

Loverofnature 08-29-2010 02:16 PM

it is a very big issue :(

must... have...... Naow.... :D :awesome: :shoop:

Fighter-of-Wars 08-29-2010 03:09 PM

Can't wait to get it. But just need to be patient. It will be here before too long.

CyanRachel 08-29-2010 10:34 PM

Thanks for posting the news! I'm definitely going to purchase the Collector's Edition in Nov. Can't wait!

Empty Glass 08-29-2010 11:16 PM

I actually kinda like that cover. Very simple yet evocative IMO.

Davy Jones 08-29-2010 11:54 PM

Agreed, cover is awesome.. but 16 minutes? Whatever happened to the HOURS of footage?

Tymian 08-30-2010 12:07 AM

add to this 9 min from cinema, 45 min unfinished, behind scenes and there you have 'hours' of footage . :P still we don't have any actual details about that 150 euro version :D

Helicoradian 08-30-2010 01:06 AM

Well I like the cover and do want very badly :)

and November is really not that far away, so the wait wont be too bad :P

X.,.Pandora.,.X 08-30-2010 01:29 AM

N-N-November 16th!?!?!?!? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuu
I want it NAOW!!!:shoop:

Patrice Maire 08-30-2010 02:13 AM

Very cool! That is exactly the message that he was trying to get across with the movie. Going to have to go out and buy a blue ray player now.
If even one tenth of the fans of the movie got involved with some organization like amazon watch, Avatar will have made a global impact of monumental proportions.

Human No More 08-30-2010 05:20 AM

I want to see EVERYTHING... :(

Great video though :D

rasomaso 08-30-2010 08:37 AM

So is it 9 minutes of theatre release, 16 mins of another stuff and 45 of old videogame type of stuff? I don't really get it. :shoop:

It's on my to be in November thing, it should be great. Thank god i didn't buy the Blu-Ray now that is bareboned just rented it because i am waiting for this edition.

Fkeu'itan 08-30-2010 12:43 PM

I really, really cannot wait for this release.

As for the additional, unfinished, footage - i'm not sure that I want to see it actually. If it's going to be like watching a dodgy PS1 game then i'm not all that interested in all honesty, i'll just stick with the finished product.

Still though, i'd love to see more than 9 mins of fully finished footage. I think there's still a lot they could realistically add.

rasomaso 08-30-2010 01:44 PM

So how much for it?

Tymian 08-30-2010 02:02 PM

Avatar: Collector's Edition 3x dvd set for 19,99 €

Avatar: Collector's Edition 3x bd set for 29,99 €

Avatar: "Cabinet" limited edition for 149.99 €

Dreaming Of Pandora 08-30-2010 02:13 PM

AVATAR collectors edition... *drools*

I'm still confused about the Cabinet edition. Why 149$?

rasomaso 08-30-2010 02:17 PM

What's cabinet?

but 30 sounds good :)

Human No More 08-31-2010 01:51 AM

Of course :D

Woodsprite 08-31-2010 04:50 AM

What the heck is the "Cabinet Edition"???

Tymian 08-31-2010 10:13 AM

sadly no actual information about that edition was given :( never the less i will buy it for sure :P

Vauktu 08-31-2010 04:38 PM

Can't wait! I'll be sure to buy the cabinet edition. :)

And Tymian, the video in the first post is broken. Here's a working one:

75 days is a painful wait. :(

I'll just continue to ignore your sig, maybe the wait will be a little more bearable. :P

Human No More 09-02-2010 02:58 AM

Too long to wait :'(

At least I have the regular bluray and the rerelease though...

Fkeu'itan 09-02-2010 07:25 PM

^This.

Hopefully i'll get to see it a few more times before it leaves.

Tymian 09-08-2010 04:17 PM

68 days to go :(

Patrice Maire 09-08-2010 04:59 PM

And if we weren't blessed with having the re-release, how many days would it be to the sequel?
68 days is nothing... a little over two months is a drop in the bucket, especially when there is this board to pass the time.
