Battlefield: Bad Company 2

So anyone else playing this? :awesome:

Buoyant Rock 08-31-2010 12:27 AM

I rented it once, loved sniping in Multiplayer, but haven't played since...and this was before/during early Summer >.<

Fkeu 'Awpo 08-31-2010 12:46 AM

Beat the Campaign. It was like COD but with destructible environment (which, more often than being awesome, was annoying as f*ck.)

It's great if you really really like military first person shooters, but I was not impressed.

I suppose it was meant to be for multiplayer mostly, since they released the demo and everyone was like "OMG I CAN CUT THROUGH FENCES AND KILL YOU WITH DEFIBRILLATORS." In which case.... why bother making a campaign...? I feel quite ripped off of the money I'm glad I didn't spend on it.

Fighter-of-Wars 08-31-2010 03:48 AM

I played it for a little bit. A buddy bought it for me for PC.

I am burnt out on FPS. I played them pretty much nonstop for the past 6 years. WW2 Shooters, Modern Shooters, Future Shooters. After I don't know how many thousands of hours of playing them they just aren't fun anymore.

You run around and shoot people. Each game is the same, except set in different locations, different time period, and have different guns. It gets dull to the point I just can't play.

I find more fun in my old RTS games and city builders. And of course Mass Effect which is on a whole new level.

But back on topic. I thought the Assault Gamemode was kinda cool. Don't like how the guns you get at start are next to worthless.

nickl630 08-31-2010 04:13 AM

SP was fun, MP kinda pissed me off. Aiming was awkward. 3D Vision kills it unless you have SLI'ed 480GTX's :(

Av_Daedric 08-31-2010 04:41 AM

Yup, I play it a lot.

Yeah that's because ME has over-the-shoulder 3rd person shooting which is sorta a cross between first-person and third-person but a LOT more awesome. :P

TxonTirea 08-31-2010 10:25 PM

This game plainly drove me insane. MP sucked. I'd shoot people with a Sniper, in the head. I'd get a hitmarker. Coming from MW2, I never want to see another feckin' hitmarker in my entire life. SP was cool, for the 3 hours it lasted.

Wow, that's some MP hate around here. :xD:
I've got over 400 hours in there lol, making word "annihilation" look weaker every day. :D
Though I agree it sucks that it went in the similar direction as CoD, I really miss playing on epic (read large) maps from the previous BC. Rolling the tank on the large fields and shelling the targets in the distance was always my favourite highlight.

QFT

That's what I liked about the BF1942, BF2 and BF2142, I really liked those because of the epicness of them.

TxonTirea 09-02-2010 04:08 PM

Battlefield 3 Beta Code comes with the new Medal of Honour game. Still not going to buy MoH though, the Multiplayer is BFBC2 reskinned. I'll just Yarr Yarr it for the campaign, it looks interesting.

rasomaso 09-04-2010 12:45 PM

Btw I forgot to mention, the guns you have at the beginning rock! :D AEK vintovka is one of the best assault rifles in the game, 9A-91 smg is very powerful but has a small mag, PKM is insane, M24 is meh a sniper rifle. The starting guns are usually very good but you need to learn to use them properly, just a tip. ;)

Marley 09-04-2010 03:07 PM

I actually really like this game, and recently just unlocked the M16. :P

The thing I had to get used to with sniping was the fact that the bullets drop at really long range.. So when that's the case I'd aim somewhere above the target (how much above it depends on how far I am away)

Apollo 09-05-2010 06:12 AM

Do not get me started...

Don't want to troll, but someone needs to say it.

The Video Game industry is seeing a very dark era at the moment. At least in the FPS region of gaming. Medal of Honor, Crysis 2, and quite possibly Fable III are following something similar. Fable III is skeptical however, alot of critics have shown over-the-top results. But with Bad Company and Crysis 2, they are all following something similar to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. If you haven't heard of this game, it is the most popular game aside from WoW and other possible MMOs. The world's playtime on this game is insane, you get my point. Bad Company is adding patches that reduces the difficulty, adds unnecessary content thats meant to lure in the MW2 crowd, and avoids to fix the obvious problems with the game. Some games like Battlefield and Crysis are perfect, in their nature and form, all they needed was a small amount of care and time to perfect the very small problems that gamers, such as myself, found to be bigger problems than what they really worth worrying about. Developers, however, that don't listen to their fanbase and try a shot at going with something thats popular learn the hard way that it's a suicide pill. Build a consensus before going with a renowned interface. Be smart about it gentlemen.

The introduction of perks, killstreeks, etc. is just another way of saying that the companies who were behind all the very unique FPS shooters have all gone cold. The industry is desperate for cash and have denied their trust into creativity in the playability region of their games. Some games out there are showing the standard, such as Blizzard's side projects and Bioware's Games from their dedicated team (Check out Knights of the Old Republic's progress, extremely promising). Ubisoft as well, but that move with 'Uplay' and the permanent internet connection did more harm than good; the cause of this problem was from piracy, but that's a whole different point all together but has a connection to the life of the Game industry. Using the modelled interface from MW2 and applying to other games is making shooters generic, boring, and MW2 with just different visuals. Players have taste, and we need to satisfy that taste with the art that you give us to interact with my humble developers.

The term of a video game is a unique interactive piece of equipment that brings as much or more entertainment than that of a movie should in a variety of different ways, either through plot or a visually satisfying sight to behold (one of many of my descriptions of what a video game is; multiply definitions exist). The universe of some games are unique to their own brand; why do they have to betray a game series by making it a knock-off of another game? My friends would declare this a rant, and I'm inclined to agree with them so this is where I take my leave of the debate. On a personal opinion however:

Bad Company was a fun game until everyone found out about the m60 bogus. It had no recoil and you could just spit bullets till you hit something. I'm one for skill and using Shotgun Slugs is how I roll (I snipe with it, better than using a sight ^_^ Id say), and what grinds my gears is the god AWFUL hit-reg that this game possesses. Every other Battlefield game has had this problem, and what doesn't make sense is that a person who was familiar with the Battlefield team told the developers how to fix the hit-reg problem through a thread on the official forum board. The developers ignored him and publicly humiliated him by denouncing him with a big BS statement "We'll work on that". Later, I found out that the forum admin gave him a PM and threatened him to quiet down about it. He posted the message in a new thread and he got banned shortly after. This proves they could of fixed it; this man was a guy who was laid off from the team because of money issues, he provided his assistance because he wanted his job back. I feel for the man; Dice is a company filled with pricks.

Status: I hate the game... with a Passion!
  • -Hit Registry
  • +Weapon Choices
  • -Client Side Hit Reg
  • -False Animations
  • -No Infantry Only maps
  • -Lack of Customizable Settings for Servers
  • -Gernades are random, have a fixed trigectory
  • +Immersion
  • -Game Content reduced; cheap additions do more dmg than heal
  • -No new maps, NONE!
  • -Only way to win, Medic Train it all the way!
In fact, the bad news from Crysis 2 has lead me into being a 3D Character Designer for my Clan, which has converted into a mod team. Were all in training at the moment and results are promising so far. One day, you'll see a character I made :D I love cake as a gift!

Isard 09-05-2010 06:44 AM

Sniper class, Thompson, and charges.

I can rack up 3K easily just hunting APC's.

rasomaso 09-05-2010 02:38 PM

Apollo have you played the original Bad Company? It was much more battlefield like in terms of action and maps. I agree with you on the CoD cloning, but you should give the game another shot, the M60 is still nooby gun ofc, but much less powerful. Using slugs eh? :D Yeah that's another thing I don't like to see, just like perks and 4x/RDS scopes for bolt action rifles. :P

anyway I had record game yesterday, 8136 points attacking Arica harbour, 12 points more than my previous record :xD:

Apollo 09-07-2010 02:34 AM

You must of played that match for hours :P.

I played the game competitively. I'm in a league of drama queens who know the quirks of the game, and can't stop b!tching about it. I'm inclined to agree; the rage builds up when I see what appears to be ketchup packs blowing up behind a guy's head but the man is at 100% hp still. I think the shotgun slugs need skill to shoot; they don't one shot kill. Anyone who wanted that simply used the GOL before the balance patch. Now, people vehicle camp (I wouldn't complain about this if there were server options to allow vehicles), hitreg, and those grenades... they can be life savers if they worked properly.

I know I'm on a reckless rant that won't inform or convince a single soul, but if there is anything I can say about this game, it's that it can be tester of your sanity if you don't play the game in moderation (but all the time!).

Just for the sake of it, i'll post a good-times picture ^_^ (I am l-ls. Eagle7)
http://a.imageshack.us/img710/8974/schooled.jpg
and just to prove my point about the medic guns...... anyone can own.
http://a.imageshack.us/img188/4543/yeaac.jpg
I accept with great humility..
I have some pics of my shotgun rounds as well if proof need be.

I've given this game a chance. I play it remotely but when these problems occur, it infuses such a burning hatred inside of me that I have to quit the game before I blow a fuse. The funny thing about all of this is... Mafia 2 has excellent Hit-reg, and that was made by Dice.

You need to try it sometime! It's challenging but if you can get headshots on a daily basis, the kill is extremely gratifying, more than what a sniper shot can give you.

-Nice! Whats your name in-game?

X.,.Pandora.,.X 09-07-2010 02:41 AM

Medic defib. paddles, people get so pissed at me for using em...

Apollo 09-07-2010 06:03 AM

You know, I rely on the medic's shockpaddles more than the knife. At least it doesn't screw you over in the heat of the moment lol.

Grif 09-07-2010 11:09 PM

I love it, play it a lot too. (maybe not when reach comes out though).

Send me a message on XBL if you want to play (Grifachu)

hehe I'm on the PS3 :P so the GOL isn't that much of a problem lol, but yeah people people with ACOGs or RDS's on regular bolt actions piss me off, it's soo easy to kill someone with that, btw I think the slugs are way easy too :p

I'll post a few good games too :glol:

Yea, life for this game on the PC is almost dead. You got the usual suspects putsen around. I applaud anyone who can use a controller to shoot, the controller isnt built for that as much as a mouse would be. Why I say that is the jerky-ness that a joystick would give and other factors.

rasomaso 09-10-2010 11:02 PM

yeah I think it's kinda awkward at first, but I guess I have more fun with it you know, if not for the obviously slower "time to kill (and hit)" action, then because I can game in my bed :glol:
