Na'vi costume v2

Still needs a lot of work, was disappointed with how it turned out, especially the skin - was too dark and not enough contrast for the markings or the sides of then nose, making it look too human :'(

Also, pxasik, next time I'm ditching the tshirt and painting my chest :)

Didn't get many photos, stupidly didn't think that after Avatar, my paint would have run... :(

Also, admittedly slightly rushed due to lateness and the paint being a bit different to before (tried to combine 2 colours, didn't work that well... )

Queue was attached to my real hair (which is around mid-back) and hung down to my waist :)

Sorry, I'm only an average photographer at the best of times... pictures of myself are hard :(

Improvements from last: darker skin (but too dark :( ), had a tail and a proper queue

For next time: SLIGHTLY lighter skin, better markings, going to just ditch the tshirt, needs a better tail, want to try and find a way to actually shape my nose, maybe add more Na'vi stuff :)

o.O you could probably use your real hair instead of yarn lol

muuuuuch improvement over the first version. :P

It may still be just a biiiit light. But that may be from the camera flash.

Yeah, made it look lighter and purpler than it really was...

Looks good. You should adding some stripes and white dots. See how it looks.

Human No More 09-03-2010 09:35 AM

The stripes are there - just hard to see properly as I said because the overall colour was too dark :(
As for the dots, maybe next time - I don't know if I'd be that good at doing them though, I'm not that skilled :(

I like it. The queue was nice. Can't wait till you do it again. And hopefully the colors come out right.

Definitely drop the shirt - or use a colorful one as contrast (making you look more like the Avatars than the NA'Vi). Definitely get some accessories like beads, maybe also in the hair braids. You can easily get artificial hair instead of yarn to make a queue-braid. Its not that expensive either. If you want to make it even better, get a non-perm hair coloring in black ;). Good luck :)

Yeah, I considered dying my hair... Didn't really make a decision though.
I actually think I'd look good with black hair but the main problem would be maintaining that so it doesn't grow out :( - maybe non-permanent would be a good idea.

I have the time, but don't have the resources to do this. :(

I colored my hand blue once with Crayola markers! Does that count? :P

Human No More 06-23-2011 08:22 AM

...maybe. You're about 2% Na'vi then :P
