Halo reach...
Can you tell I'm excited? http://www.8bitwalrus.com/public/sty...t/shepface.gif
|
Should be coming today or tomorrow, preordered it.
|
I sooo want this game, damn xbox is broken and I haven't got the new one yet... :(
|
17 hours for me.
I really hope this isn't hinting at a death ingame... |
Postmans just been, I got a fecking Ford leaflet. *sighs* Tomorrow it is then.
|
Can't friggn wait, me and about 6 of my dorm mates are going to midnight launch @ Gamestop :D
|
I pre-ordered it too, and I'm going to have to wait until after school tomorrow to pick it up. I know a few people that are actually skipping school tomorrow to play it. Not Fair.
|
...And it's now officially out. Who will be the first person to post a review about it? :P
|
My review of Halo Reach:
Ahem. *noises from the audience* AHEM. Silence please. Ah, right, um... Well, you play as... some guy, and your objective is to...do... some thing. The gameplay is much like the... previous games, with the exception of... some things. There are also some flaws, but most good parts. In conclusion, Halo: Reach is a game. *quickly escapes the bombardment of rotten fruit, Ninat, and eggshells* |
Limited edition. Epic. Some great little goodies in here. Well worth the 20$ extra. Halesly's "sketchbook" is more of a journal, and a hell of a long one. Some fun technical charts and data, little facts. A SPARTAN project patch.
Now I need to sleep to plug this puppy in tomorrow. |
My review of the game.
Chronologicallythe first chapter, dynamically the last, Halo: Reach is Bungie's final creation for the Halo universe as an independent contractor for Microsoft. Released today. (Yeah, I already have gone through most of it) Single player is by far one of the most indepth and interesting experiances I've ever had with a Halo game. For their final game, Bungie eschewed their normal single character for the campaign and instead went with what I can only describe as an RPG esque system. You're able to pick between a male and female character, and design a custom armor set for them, which carries over into the single player campaign. Now this brings us to the protagonist the (male/female) "Noble six". This is where I truely felt Bungie tried their hardest to pull an RPG feel to the game. You find out very, very little personality or history wise about your character. I felt that this was almost intentional, it let you really assume the character, a shell to coat yourself in for full immersion. By the end of the game, I was very attached to "my" character. The basic plot of the game starts approximately 2 months before Halo: Combat Evolved's introduction sequence. "Noble team" is a six spartan squat assigned to the UNSC stronghold world of Reach, officially, to suppress insurrectionist activity, unofficially, in case the Covenant invade and everything goes to hell. Unfortunately, the latter proves to be true. Covenant forces invade reach, severing communications with the rest of the UNSC. The game follows Noble Team as they fight to hold off the covenant while waiting for a relief fleet to save the world. The ending was incredibly emotional, and really, was a wonderful way to end the Halo universe. I cried. I'm not sure if it was because of the ending itself, or that I knew that this was it for the series. Maybe a bit of both. Anyways, wonderful game, well worth even just renting. (But I suggest you buy ;)) Servers have been bitching at me, I cant review multiplayer yet. However, based on Forge tests, it looks like it follows classic rules, except for the addition of armor abilities that you can pick up throughout the world. (Oh yeah, JETPACKS) |
Too bad I suck at shooters XD
|
And so ends my first day with Halo Reach.
I blitzed through the campaign on Heroic with my friend Skxawng (That IS his ToS Username) The campaign was by far the best I've had in a Halo game. It was challenging, but not unfairly so. The story was brilliant and emotional, and the ending had me a bit WTF'd for a few minutes. Seeing as I already read the novella "The Fall of Reach" I knew how it was going to turn out. I've had a fair run with Multiplayer as well, pushed myself to Warrant Officer, and enjoyed it. There are a few maps I find incredibly frustrating, the Halo 2 remakes. I feel that they are out of place and pretty much ****. The "Forge World" maps to me feel the same thing, and poorly made. The rest of them, top class. Although I could whine about the spawns... Haven't had a go with the Forge yet, I expect it'll be the same, with some much needed improvements. Bungie's last Halo game, and by God has it gone out with a bang. Some bugs are yet to be worked out, or maybe its the servers screaming under the strain. Sometimes the game would randomly lose my rank and my armor permutations, and I'd have to sit in a matchmaking lobby while it "Loaded data from the Reach server" to play again. All in all, a feckin' brilliant game. Buy it. :awesome: |
I am so impatien to play, But just 20 min ago a got the badess luck ever.
I am supposed to recieve Halo reach (that I pre-order on Amazone) tomorrow. I wait this 2 last mount FU*King impatiently to play this game. but there the bad luck, I got a ****ing ring of death 20 min ago on my XBOX:'(!!!!!:shoop: and it don't start anymore. I hope you're Xbox is working okay, REAAAACH.
|
Just got back from the store less than an hour ago with my copy of Reach and a 3 month Live card. :)
Have to wait until tomorrow to play though. Can anyone guess how long it will take for Reach to take down Xbox Live with sheer amount of traffic? I'm guessing this Friday, at 11PM. |
i think is a good guess, I go same as you.

Xavier and I just rolled it on Legendary, was alittle challenging more because of either bugs, or the baddies royally spamming 20 nades at the same time... or because I was awake for about 40 hours when we started. But yeah, not too bad. Great game.
|
Xbox kicked me out of a game at 11:32PM Friday night, wouldn't let me sign in for 5 minutes. Lucky guess. :D

I've had 1 PS3 for 2+ years....and PSN is free (and ALMOST as good) Yes Xbox has Halo....but thats really it... |
PSN is not "almost" as good.
Because upkeep and maintenance cost money. Subscription fee's cover these ongoing expenses. Whereas "free" items such as PSN, have secondary priority because its a money sink rather than a faucet. |
I like the game, but I can only play it for a certain period of time, the campaign is incredibly boring (Not just in Reach). The max I can do is one level a day, and that's still a little much.
But it's still a cool game though. |
I loved reach, Bungie is kinda killing it with all the restriction's in MP but i still loved the campaign and all the new maps and variants are pretty epic. I'm almost a warrant officer atm :p
|
Having fun with the Multiplayer, Neytiri. you'll have to drop your Gamercard at me sometime. Also, spare us the PS3 vs Xbox bull****, I didn't come to a thread about an Xbox exclusive game to look at people arguing over which humming piece of electrics renders games better.
|
Well put. Though PC still rules. :D
