Swedish cinema meetup!

Hi everyone!

Ever since Avatar SE was announced NOT to show in Sweden, I have been looking for alternate means of watching the movie on the big screen - and I now might have found a solution.

As some of you might know, SF rents out cinema locales for conferences, meetings etc - and if we are lucky, they might very well be able to rent it out for us swedes in here to watch Avatar as well! :)

I sent SF this email just recently:

Quote:

Hej!

Ivar Hill

If it does turn out to work, the meetup will be held in Bergakungen, Gothenburg, and the cost of renting the locale (5100 kr exkl. moms) WILL be split up between us. If we can make 10-20 people (I will post this at all other Avatar communities too), it will be fully reasonable. :)

Time and date is not decided - after all, they might very well decline offering us the locale at all. :P

So, if anyone's interested, just drop a post in this thread. Of course non-swedes are welcome as well, provided they can make it there. :)

I'm interested but will need a date decently in advance to get a flight... I MIGHT be able to come :P

I'm in if I can!

As said, we need at leas a estimated date.

I got a mail now from SF saying they will forward my questions to the Gothenburg department - soon we will have answers! :)

I wish you the best of luck! :)

I'd totally go to Sweden to see Avatar with you guys! Only my parents would think I'm insane and the costs associated with it as well.

If I were a bit older, and had the money, I'd be there. ;)

Hmm, Canada is a bit far... If only we could ALL meet up somewhere...

I really hope I can make this... make up for all the events in America I missed :(

I am absolutely interested!

I would have updated the other thread, but a cloose family member recently passed away, so it's been to much for me recently. Glad to see that there is still interest though!

So is anything gonna happen with this? I would really love a meetup like this, even if we ended up only watching Avatar on blue ray in someones livingroom! :)

Eltu 09-27-2010 10:13 PM

I am still waiting for a reply from the Gothenburg division - but they said I will receive one shortly, so I'll keep waiting. ;)

Human No More 09-28-2010 07:48 AM

Do want :)

Even in someone's living room, I'd like to :P

Hello everyone! (speaking in english since anyone is invited to join, not only swedes :))

I bring updates. I discussed it over with SF, and it's fully doable. However, it will be expensive. 8800kr (1301.29 USD) - excluding moms. Totally it'll be about 11000kr, I assume.

This is by no means something that prevents us from doing it, but it means that we will have to FILL this cinema locale if we are going to bring the prices for each person down to a respectable level - OR have a few people who are ready to pay some more. I'm saddened to say that I myself have a quite limited budget - so I won't be able to put down more than a tenth of the cost as the most.

So, feel free to spread the word to people you know, whom you know to like the movie. :) If anyone is willing to "donate" some more money for this cause, let me know.

For the people at NaviForums and LearnNavi - this conversation will be held at one place now, since it makes it much easier to decide things. In other words, go here:

To keep discussing this. ;)

Finally, here is the latest reply I recieved from SF:
Quote:

Lokalhyra salong 5 (98platser) 5100.-

DVD, ljudanläggning 1000.-

Personal ca 1200.-

Tot ca 8800.- ex moms
That'd be all. Let's make this happen!

Human No More 10-06-2010 10:53 AM

I'm willing to pay a bit more, but I'm not able to pay a lot either... I'll have to get a flight there too, remember :P

Will it still be in Gothenburg (suits me best since I live in it´s vicinity)?
