If You Were Asked To Create A Soundtrack For Avatar, Which Songs Would You Include?

My applogies if a similar thread has been made in the past, I searched for one and couldn't find one.

So if you could include some of your favorite songs in a soundtrack for Avatar, which ones do you think would be good for the movie? You can even be as specific as to name what songs you would want played during certain scenes in the movie. If you want to name why you would include each song, then feel free. You can post the actual song, or just simply list them. Both are fine.

These are the only songs that I could think of so far:

Kid Cudi - In My Dreams
Krayzie Bone - Let's Live
Litefoot - Speciality
Bone Thugs N Harmony - Days Of Our Lives (Instrumental)
Michael Jackson - Earth Song

And songs that I might "consider":

Michael Jackson - Fly Away
Black Eyed Peas - Fly Away
Black Eyed Peas - Meet Me Halfway
Krayzie Bone - Sailin (aka Paradise)
Krayzie Bone - Hard To Let Go

My only problem is lack of variety in artists, which is a coincidence. :/

So I'm really interested in hearing the rest of your lists, opinions, ideas, ect.

....If I was asked to create a soundtrack for Avatar, I'd be absolutely delighted to compose. :) Though, I would have to ask that the same time given to Horner be given me to write and record everything too. ;)

If I were asked which of my favorite songs I'd include in the film if I could... I really have no clue which ones, since I don't really care for anything besides classical and orchestral film score. So...

...maybe a song sung by Enya with mostly strings and a horn or two, with nothing electronic, and just her natural voice... in place of that... pop thing performed by Leona Lewis.

-Two Steps From Hell - "Infinite Legends"
-Auracle Music - "Epic Legend"
-Future World Music - "Quest for Freedom"
-Fired Earth Music - "Man of Steel"

And I can post more later when it's not so late :P

Good thread, I like it. :P

For me, it'd be a load of electronic tracks, but electronic that still has that nature/tribal feel.

Instra:mental
- Thugtronik
- Photograph
- Translucent

dBridge & Instra:mental
- Blush Response [If I had to insist one song, this would be it.]
- Rendevouz

Blu Mar Ten
- Believe Me
- By The Time My Light Reaches You, I'll Be Gone
- If I Could Tell You

Logistics
- No Words
- Slow Motion

And I think that's about it so far, without clooging up the thread too much. ;)

I would replace whoever sang I See You with Lisa Miskovsky.

Ashen Key 09-25-2010 12:57 AM

Creedence Clearwater's Fortunate Son - I always tend to think of this as Jake's theme-song

Nulkrr'zo 09-25-2010 01:48 AM

anything by Two Steps From Hell or X-ray dog! :D

Devourment 09-25-2010 04:06 AM

Coldworld - Wintereisse is about all I can come up with, to be honest.

I think it would have gone well with when Jake woke up after the destruction of hometree as he walks through the ash.

Kotipelto - Here We Are
Coldworld - Escape
Korpiklaani - With Trees

^ Seconds Victory Song :D

Soulfly.
Soulfly II. - Soulfly

To Holmgard and Beyond - Turisas (would be a pretty good Epic soundtrack. Used in the same way as "Gathering the Na'vi clans for battle". And maybe without the lyrics.)
Para Belum - Vader (it's short, but fits perfect with a pre-battle theme :) Would sound even better if youwere to take it together with This is the War - Vader. Wouldn't fit at all though :/ )
Vigil - Mass Effect Score (Together with a space scene... PERFECT!!!!!! :D )
The Lazarus Project - Mass Effect 2 Score
Bloodmarch - Finntroll

As same as HNM, could think of more... not right now

Great ones :)

Never thought of just using the instrumental part of a song, but yeah, To Holmgard And Beyond would really fit there :D

X.,.Pandora.,.X 11-12-2010 05:01 PM

probably The Gail, it's the theme song from Last of the Mohicans

This. Although, I like the background music in I See You - the parts that are like the soundtrack during the chorus. Anyways, I actually love Enya but I also like some electronic music. Nothing flashy, more like this during the first half or so(excluding the loud intro noise.)

YouTube - MGMT - "Love Always Remains"

Sight Unseen 12-02-2010 04:06 AM

Well, here's my picks:

Battle music:
Disturbed - Ten Thousand Fists
Static X - Kill Your Idols
Dragonforce - Black Fire

Space scene:
The last 1:30 of Eat Static - Abduction

Jake becoming one of the people:
Tim Catrall - Atrium

Jakes flight:
Lost Tribe - Seven Cities

Neytiri scene:
The middle of Spark7 - Vanquish starting right before the piano and ending right after the insanely awesome electric solo, before the beat starts again. I recommend listening to this, it's one of the few songs thats made me cry.

Credits:
Dragonforce - Trail of Broken Hearts

Reading back over this, some of it wouldn't really fit well...oh well. Just be glad James Horner made the soundtrack, not me. :P

I heard rumors that it was originally supposed to be for an avatar pre-release trailer. Not sure if its true or not.

Very Epic :)

Human No More 12-03-2010 02:12 AM

Hmm, that would fit for a trailer, although I'm not so sure where it would go in the actual film (maybe the sturmbeest hunt).

Would be good for the Neytiri mating scene or when Jake first sees the floating mountains of Pandora, In fact, it would be great for a lot of the scenes actually! :D

Icu 05-14-2011 04:04 PM

If someone asked me to create a soundtrack to Avatar, I'd punch them in the face for thinking I (or anyone) could do a better job than James Horner :)

LOVEavatar 05-14-2011 04:22 PM

Hmm, wish I could remember what I was thinking of when I posted that...maybe the scene where Jake first encounters Neytiri and the bioluminescence? Some moment when things are...well, mystic. :P

The composition has a more mystically scary feel, the scene is fascinatingly mystic. (imo) :P But I get your message ;)
