Managed to Watch Avatar - Finally after months!

After months of not being able to watch Avatar, as trying to avoid another sever bout of PAD, finally last night I watched it, not only once but twice.

In some ways it was actually a great comfort. With everyone gone this weekend, and being alone at home, I was a bit overcome by the absolute stillness present all around me, even to the point where I almost felt afraid in being alone, just being with myself. I even had to turn on every light in the house just to dispel the palatable feeling of isolation.

So still unable to watch TV or any other movies, decided to give it a go! Hence my initial disappointment when I couldn't find it for a bit~

Interesting enough its not so much that I watched it, but as decided to clean up my craft room at the same time, more so I 'listened' more to it!

Perhaps being visually orientated I have previously soaked up more of the 'visual' effects, although admittedly also moved deeply by the 'whole' experience of the movie. But this time I was completely absorbed the 'sounds' effects.

What I guess I noticed more was all the nuances woven in the background, every whisper, hum, crunch, click, the vividness of all the Pandora jungle noises. The screech of the banchees, the horrific burning, crunching, collapsing of Home Tree, the wailing of the Na'vi, the heartbeats and song voices of the gathering, the intimate conversations, the list goes on. So entranced was I by this secondary story, floating like a river layer underneath the main story, that I can't even be certain I paid attention to the soundtrack or the main story line.

So I don't know if others have had this experience, but I do encourage everyone to just 'listen' to the movie .. to awaken not only 'I See You' but also 'I Hear You'.

Its as equally profound!

:)

Sounds like a great experience. I had never thought of just listening to the movie. I will have to try it sometime.

Well if you do, I look forward to hearing your experience!

BTW - Happy Birthday! Wish all the best for the day and year ahead~ :)

Interesting... I don't think I could do that, I would keep stopping to watch :P
Plus Avatar renders me unable to move when I'm watching it...

Well, glad you enjoyed it :)

I haven't been able to see Avatar since May...

Is there room on my Christmas list, I wonder.

Sounds like an amazing experience Mika! I have too already embraced not only the visuals, but the sounds of the film also. Even when I listen to the score I can envisage every moment of the film in my mind (IN 1080P TOO :P). Like the faint calls and woos of nocturnal forest wildlife during the track "Jake Meets the Na'vi," (Pure Spirits of the Forest on OST) also the screetch of an animal in the distance as Jake makes his "This is our land" speech during "Gathering All the Na'vi Clans for Battle."
(1:42 for score fans on the track for the animal screetch.) :)
