Quote:

LOS ANGELES, CA. (October 5th, 2010) – Director James Cameron is unlocking the secrets of Pandora and taking fans on a guided tour of his vision with the highly anticipated release of AVATAR Extended Collector’s Edition on Blu-ray and DVD releasing November 16th in North America and rolling out internationally from November 15th. These exclusive Extended Collector’s Editions come with iconic, collectible packaging to get fans to experience Pandora like never before. With three versions of the film, AVATAR fans will get an all-new extended cut of the film and hours of never-before seen material including over 45 minutes of amazing deleted scenes!

"I told our team --- let's do the ultimate box set of Avatar, with everything in it the fans could possibly want. There's an extended length cut that's sixteen minutes longer, plus documentaries, behind the scenes featurettes, artwork and over 45 minutes of deleted scenes. Everything worth putting into a special edition is in this set," said James Cameron.

The three-disc AVATAR Extended Collector’s Edition Blu-ray and Theatrical Special Edition Re-Release DVD will both feature the original theatrical release, a special edition re-release, family audio track with all objectionable language removed and new collector’s extended cut with sixteen more minutes including an exclusive alternate opening Earth scene. Viewers will journey to the depths of Pandora with filmmakers during “Capturing Avatar“ an in-depth feature length documentary covering the 16 year filmmaker journey including all new interviews with James Cameron, Jon Landau and cast and crew exploring James Cameron’s unique vision for the film seen by more than 310 million people worldwide. The Oscar and Golden Globe winning epic is the highest grossing film of all time, taking in over $2.7 billion in worldwide box office. It is also the top-selling Blu-ray disc of all time.

The AVATAR Extended Collector’s Edition Blu-ray will also have even more bonus material and interactive viewing. Through the unparalleled, interactive technology of Blu-ray, fans can dive further into the world of the Na’vi and experience the #1 international sensation from behind the scenes, with a “master class” on the production of the film. Leveraging the interactivity of Blu-ray, viewers can experience the full film in three stages of production: Performance Capture, Template (1990’s video game version) and Final as well as a composite of all stages in “Pandora’s Box”. This will be supported with interviews by Jim Cameron and the filmmakers and serve as a “master class” on the making of AVATAR.

Also loving the art :)

Nulkrr'zo 10-05-2010 05:21 PM

wow

Fighter-of-Wars 10-05-2010 06:44 PM

I am highly thinking about getting the limited edition. Its a lot of money, but to think of what Avatar has done for me its worth it ten times over.

Fkeu'itan 10-05-2010 06:57 PM

/me gets the calculator out...

Yeah, I think I can JUST about afford that limited edition tomorrow...

Anyone want a free third disc though? :P

Hunter of the Glade 10-05-2010 08:55 PM

Maybe my brain is fried from all of the Mountain Dew I've been drinking but what is the real difference between the Cabinet and the Regular DVD. Again sorry. :P

Woodsprite 10-05-2010 09:53 PM

We're all assuming the cabinet contains a statue of some kind. Probably Neytiri.

...If that's all the cabinet edition has to offer over the collector's edition, I probably won't get it.

Hunter of the Glade 10-05-2010 09:59 PM

I'm pretty meh about statues in general. Even if it is Neytiri. Statues break! :P And I wouldn't want Ney in two pieces on the floor if something drastic happened. :P Then again I'm generally clutzy so if you want the statue by all means get it. :)

Hunter of the Glade 10-05-2010 10:38 PM

I would however like to say this. The bonus footage...looks AWESOME! In that second video, that beginning scene on earth is going to unravel more of the storyline :D I love the futuristic look to the planet, it's the way our cliche future is always 'supposed' to be depicted as. :P

Nulkrr'zo 10-05-2010 11:40 PM

Does anyone know why in the DVD edition, Disc 1 and 2 have the same stuff on them??:S

HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
I'm exited to see the alternate opening. (Damn, they wern't kiding when they discribed James Camran's Blade Runner like city.)

Blade Runner is my second Favorite Sci-fi Film.

Human No More 10-06-2010 12:08 AM

I've preordered the collector's edition. Won't get the cabinet one because all it has extra is a statue of Jake. If a Neytiri one becomes available, I'll get that though and cancel my preorder of the regular collector's edition :)

Hunter, only if you're careless. Mine will be protected as one of the most important things I own (if there's a Neytiri one and not just Jake... :( )

I hope that the DVD has enough behind the scenes to match the blu-ray or just enough to satisfy a Fan with out Blu-ray:facepalm:

James Cameron's Avatar: Limited Extended Collector's Edition (Blu-ray) - Blu-ray at Play.com (UK)

There :)

From what I've heard, the DVD will be missing the final bonus disk, just having the first two.

Nulkrr'zo 10-06-2010 03:08 AM

that is sooooooo sooooo messed up that the DVD versions dont have all the stuff the Blu-ray does! its BS! i mean they could put a 4th dvd in the box so it could have all the stuff the blu-ray does! they could even charge more, id still buy it!:xD: maybe the DVD cabinet edition will have something better, but those trailers got my stoked-o-meter at like a billionn!!! :shoop:

Empty Glass 10-06-2010 05:56 AM

Add me to the list of people who don't get why the DVD version seems to have the same material on the first two discs. :S

Yeah I know, DVDs are soooo last decade but my wallet isn't exactly ready to get a blu-ray player, much less a proper TV to go with it.

Nulkrr'zo 10-06-2010 06:35 AM

even the image on amazon lists the two discs as being the same! WTF?
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...SL._SS350_.jpg

Empty Glass 10-06-2010 06:37 AM

Oh wait, I think I see what it is - the movie is too long to fit on a single disc. There's Avatar Part 1 and Avatar Part 2

Stanley_9875 10-06-2010 06:38 AM

Wait a couple things...

First SOOOO EXCITED!!! The case looks perfect and everything!!!

But since its limited I'm biting my nails as to if I should buy the limited and cabinet edition... even if it comes with Jake. And also Human No More where did you see/hear it came with a Jake statue? is that all thats added to it?

AUGH I AM SO CONFUSED!!!

Nulkrr'zo 10-06-2010 07:17 AM

Woodsprite 10-06-2010 08:03 AM

I'm getting a Playstation 3 for Christmas...

...and nothing else, except possibly the Avatar CE on Blu-ray. And honestly? I don't care if I don't get anything else. :xD:

Nulkrr'zo 10-06-2010 08:17 AM

I already got my x-mas present, some money....wanted to save it for a new Camera body, looks like its going towards Avatar BD-CE, a BD player and the neytiri gentle giant bust hahaha :xD:
