JC's Official next project: Avatar 2 & 3
Pre-Production begins early 2011 and production begins late 2011.
Avatar 2 release: December 2014 Avatar 3 release: December 2015 Yay!! :) James Cameron Set to Make Avatar 2 and 3 for Fox - The Hollywood Reporter |
great info, already can't wait :D
|
And now we wait....
.... ..... come out already! |
Those release dates seem fairly reasonable. But I dunno about the third movie coming out just a year after the second? How can you make a whole motion picture as epic as Avatar in just one year?

I heard that as well. So he's going to film the second and third and then do post production on 2. Release it, then post production on 3 then release it?
|
:awesome:
|
Its official now :).
But now we have to wait :(. |

Great news!
I can't wait! :D Great to hear that Avatar 2 & 3 will be filmed back to back. When we see Avatar 2, it's only a year later until Avatar 3. That's awesome. |
Too... much... wait!
Make... time... go...FASTER!!! :shoop: |
Hmmm, 2015. Maybe you won't need glasses to see the 3D in the third film. You'll be walking past the cinema and suddenly a holographic Thanator will lunge out of the billboard at you and try to bite your head off.
|
Still waiting...
|
faster!!!
|
If the world ends before he finishes the films I'm gonna be pissed lol.
|
Shoot, what am I gonna do for four years?! :P

So an episodic format.
Kind of like Star Wars was done. |
Yeah, that's kind of what I was imagining, and not a huge cliffhanger-type thing where the second leads directly into the third.

Here's a nice summary from Marketsaw
MarketSaw - 3D Movies, Gaming and Technology: Breaking: James Cameron Officially Shooting AVATAR 2 And 3 As Next Projects!! |
Wow, this is great.
And even better that Avatar 3 will come out only a year later :D But after that, things are gonna suck again. Big time. |

I wonder what I'm going to do when the screen fades to black. |

jokez :P but really, when the screen will fade for the "final" time in avatar's history in 5 years from now. . . . . . I just. . . don't know :'( It will probably feel like I've lost a bit of my reason to live (okay that may sound a bit drastic) or like I've lost a part of my life :( It's almost like the day when perhaps my numb. 1 metal band Metallica might lose one of their members (except the bassist the whole band has stayed together since the 80's) That day I will not feel good :( |

When the screen fades to black...I honestly don't know what I'd do. I'd scour the internet for more information about SOMETHING Avatar related. I don't want to fathom an end to one of the best things I've witnessed and been a part of.
|
The ending of my last visit to Avatar 3 will probably be the most treasured minutes of my life so far. PAD will hit me like a freight train after I leave the cinema.

Do want :awesome:
I really can't wait... we will have to have a big meetup for the opening night! :D I was thinking IMAX in London, I'll definitely be there, hoping to see some of you there :) I'll be in Na'vi costume of course :) |

I wonder what the sequels will be called. All we know is that they won't be called Avatar II and Avatar III. Maybe the title word[s] will be in Na'vi. Na'vi Vocabulary |
It's great to hear Jim and Fox are finally going through with it. :)

Thing about trilogies like this are, the second and third films almost always span across the boundries of the first film FAR beyond what the viewer ever expected.
If anyone saw a message in this first film to be taken to heart... If anyone cried during multiple parts of the film... If anyone thought this movie was the pinnacle of film-viewing awe... ...Then the second and third films will not only blow our minds, but have us talking together about these stories until we're old and senile. The sequels will be like what Star Wars was to Generation X, only far more dear to us. The sequels will cover areas of ideas and landscapes far more clever, more dangerous, more intricate, and more endearing than what we have ever seen before. The sequels, possibly, might pass the filmmaking quality, complexity, and storytelling that Lord of the Rings possessed. And I am waiting for it to happen. |

After the third movie is finished, all is not lost. The community will carry on. Avatar will still be the subjects of many fan fics and poems, drawings and photoshop art, discussion and Neyney Pictures :P. And who knows, maybe other things will come after Avatar. JC is writing a novel to serve as the basis for everything else to follow. Far into the future, other forms of media may set their works in the Avatar universe (more books, TV series, films by other directors, etc).

Depends on who writes the EU. |
There really are no words to describe how much im looking forward to this! I can't even imagine the feeling of watching a completeley new Avatar movie (remember, us Swedes have yet to see the Special Edition)!
It feels pretty weird to think about that i'll be 28 when the last movie is out. |
