Tymian 10-27-2010 05:51 PM

great info, already can't wait :D

Isard 10-27-2010 05:52 PM

And now we wait....

.....

come out already!

Fighter-of-Wars 10-27-2010 06:34 PM

Those release dates seem fairly reasonable. But I dunno about the third movie coming out just a year after the second? How can you make a whole motion picture as epic as Avatar in just one year?

In a previous article JC said he was going to film them back to back. I tried finding the article, but it seems to have vanished.......

Fighter-of-Wars 10-27-2010 06:51 PM

I heard that as well. So he's going to film the second and third and then do post production on 2. Release it, then post production on 3 then release it?

Dreaming Of Pandora 10-27-2010 08:22 PM

:awesome:

Banefull 10-27-2010 08:27 PM

Its official now :).

But now we have to wait :(.

Filming back-to-back worked for LOTR.

TheIknimaya 10-27-2010 08:41 PM

Great news!

I can't wait! :D

Great to hear that Avatar 2 & 3 will be filmed back to back. When we see Avatar 2, it's only a year later until Avatar 3. That's awesome.

LOVEavatar 10-27-2010 08:46 PM

Too... much... wait!

Make... time... go...FASTER!!! :shoop:

ISV Venture Star 10-27-2010 08:53 PM

Hmmm, 2015. Maybe you won't need glasses to see the 3D in the third film. You'll be walking past the cinema and suddenly a holographic Thanator will lunge out of the billboard at you and try to bite your head off.

Isard 10-27-2010 09:30 PM

Still waiting...

LOVEavatar 10-27-2010 09:55 PM

faster!!!

Gunny 10-27-2010 09:58 PM

If the world ends before he finishes the films I'm gonna be pissed lol.

Empty Glass 10-27-2010 10:13 PM

Shoot, what am I gonna do for four years?! :P

the second and third films...will be self contained stories that also fulfill a greater story arc
I'm intrigued by this, and wondering how the second movie will end and be a self-contained story.

You mean like this? :xD:

Isard 10-27-2010 10:21 PM

So an episodic format.

Kind of like Star Wars was done.

Empty Glass 10-27-2010 10:47 PM

Yeah, that's kind of what I was imagining, and not a huge cliffhanger-type thing where the second leads directly into the third.

MarketSaw - 3D Movies, Gaming and Technology: Breaking: James Cameron Officially Shooting AVATAR 2 And 3 As Next Projects!!

Raiden 10-27-2010 11:00 PM

Wow, this is great.

And even better that Avatar 3 will come out only a year later :D

But after that, things are gonna suck again.

Big time.

Imagine that last moment. That last 10 minutes of the movie when you know it's about to end. Story is wrapped up, plots resolved, the music is getting progressively more emotional and you realise "Wow, I've been on quite a journey".

I wonder what I'm going to do when the screen fades to black.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . watch it again!!! :shoop: *runs out and buys a dozen more tickets*

jokez :P but really, when the screen will fade for the "final" time in avatar's history in 5 years from now. . . . . . I just. . . don't know :'(

It will probably feel like I've lost a bit of my reason to live (okay that may sound a bit drastic) or like I've lost a part of my life :(

It's almost like the day when perhaps my numb. 1 metal band Metallica might lose one of their members (except the bassist the whole band has stayed together since the 80's) That day I will not feel good :(

If you will remember back to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Peter Jackson filmed all 3 movies nearly altogether. That is why they came out so close to each other. :)

Buoyant Rock 10-27-2010 11:51 PM

When the screen fades to black...I honestly don't know what I'd do. I'd scour the internet for more information about SOMETHING Avatar related. I don't want to fathom an end to one of the best things I've witnessed and been a part of.

Dreaming Of Pandora 10-27-2010 11:57 PM

The ending of my last visit to Avatar 3 will probably be the most treasured minutes of my life so far. PAD will hit me like a freight train after I leave the cinema.

^^^^ This without a doubt.

Human No More 10-28-2010 12:24 AM

Do want :awesome:

I really can't wait... we will have to have a big meetup for the opening night! :D
I was thinking IMAX in London, I'll definitely be there, hoping to see some of you there :)
I'll be in Na'vi costume of course :)

Idea for photoshop: take a high res-screen-grab from that scene in BTTF2 and replace the shark with an image from Avatar of the thanator sneaking up on Jake.

I wonder what the sequels will be called. All we know is that they won't be called Avatar II and Avatar III. Maybe the title word[s] will be in Na'vi.

Na'vi Vocabulary

It's great to hear Jim and Fox are finally going through with it. :)

Wasn't there some rumour floating around that the sequel will be called 'Na'vi'?

Woodsprite 10-28-2010 10:14 AM

Thing about trilogies like this are, the second and third films almost always span across the boundries of the first film FAR beyond what the viewer ever expected.

If anyone saw a message in this first film to be taken to heart...

If anyone cried during multiple parts of the film...

If anyone thought this movie was the pinnacle of film-viewing awe...

...Then the second and third films will not only blow our minds, but have us talking together about these stories until we're old and senile. The sequels will be like what Star Wars was to Generation X, only far more dear to us. The sequels will cover areas of ideas and landscapes far more clever, more dangerous, more intricate, and more endearing than what we have ever seen before. The sequels, possibly, might pass the filmmaking quality, complexity, and storytelling that Lord of the Rings possessed.

And I am waiting for it to happen.

Only ever speculation - that it would make sense since Jake is no longer an Avatar but fully Na'vi.

It's not an ending. It never will be. Avatar is always going to be with us, and I can GUARANTEE you all, ToS will always be here, I will make sure of that, no matter what I have to do, I will do it. Even if it becomes a full time job, I'm in for the long run.

Banefull 10-28-2010 05:51 PM

After the third movie is finished, all is not lost. The community will carry on. Avatar will still be the subjects of many fan fics and poems, drawings and photoshop art, discussion and Neyney Pictures :P. And who knows, maybe other things will come after Avatar. JC is writing a novel to serve as the basis for everything else to follow. Far into the future, other forms of media may set their works in the Avatar universe (more books, TV series, films by other directors, etc).

Depends on who writes the EU.

ZitaX 10-28-2010 09:38 PM

There really are no words to describe how much im looking forward to this! I can't even imagine the feeling of watching a completeley new Avatar movie (remember, us Swedes have yet to see the Special Edition)!

It feels pretty weird to think about that i'll be 28 when the last movie is out.

Yes, I agree! 2014 can't come soon enough for me. :)
