Had to watch the whole 7,5 minutes to see him say that :P Awesome! :D Thanks ;)
That said though... it only makes me more worried Quaritch might come back :S...

"Nobody dies in a Sci Fi movie" ... :hmm:

(PS:You think this will be in the CE? For me it looks like that sort of footage that they would use. Dunno if I like seeing some of parts of it in advance :S )

ISV Venture Star 11-05-2010 08:49 PM

As impressive a villain as Quaritch was, I hope he stays dead. Grace returning in some way is fine.

Advent 11-05-2010 09:13 PM

I agree. Grace is a lovable character. Whereas by the end of the movie, everyone hated Quaritch.

Not really... unless you will be completely devastated to know more about the technology and hear some of the avatar staffs comments on their work. Nothing big to worry about I'll say ;)

Edit: Or, depends maybe. Have you seen the SE?

Hunter of the Glade 11-05-2010 10:44 PM

Thank you, I will watch now.
And yeah I saw the SE. Opening day son!

Quaritch is dead, my brother. Neytiri saw to that quite assuredly.

Grace not dead. hell yeah, lets hope we see her again in avatar 2 much :D

Fwel Vitra 01-11-2011 01:10 AM

From what I hear, it's confirmed that Sigourney Weaver will retain her role in the sequel. Now, we just have to wait for it. :(

iron_jones 01-26-2011 05:22 PM

My goodness, Selfridge better come back as well.

Human No More 01-26-2011 10:27 PM

Of course, he isn't dead... yet. Can't wait for him to get some arrows through him or an angtsik stand on him :D

Fwel Vitra 01-29-2011 04:12 AM

So true. Don't remember him getting his share of arrows or spears. Can't wait to see what will happen in the sequels. I have a feeling that Quaritch will come back, for those fans. The actor said it was possible for him to make an appearance. Not sure how.

Aaron 01-29-2011 04:38 AM

Let's hope they're just crediting Sigourney because Grace's driverless avatar has some trivial role in Avatar 2 (e.g., like being an organ donor for some Na'vi warriors wounded by SecOps or something). Really, I'd love it if Quaritch, Grace, Trudy, and everybody else presumed dead/gone at the end of Avatar [1] really was dead/gone. I can see Avatar 2 starting off with some cut scenes in which we see Selfridge stepping out of cryo and immediately being handed a pink slip, but other than that, I'd love not to see him again either. Fresh blood!!! :D

EDIT: Revising that: Except perhaps for Norm's avatar. Let's see that come back somehow. The script makes that seem hard, but the movie leaves the door open. A little.

iron_jones 01-29-2011 05:23 AM

WOW!!! Selfridge does not deserve to die. he regrets what he did and was uneasy with it the whole time. BE NICE TO HIM. Giovanni Ribisi will live forever

I too have a hard time being really mad at Selfridge. He comes off mostly as a corporate pawn. Of course, he's the proxy for most of the RDA badness in the first movie, but I hope JC doesn't get too preoccupied with him. Let's go up the food chain a little if we're going to kill more RDA people!

iron_jones 01-29-2011 05:44 AM

I just love Selfridge :) Siiiiigh

Well said :D

As for Norm, it depends on whether or not the extra things from the script that were not made are canon or not.

BotanicalMedley 02-25-2011 11:18 PM

I don't think James Cameron will make Avatar 2 a repeat of Avatar. Everyone would expect Quaritch to return as evil, or just return at all. If Quaritch DOES return, I think he'll be truly GOOD.

BotanicalMedley 02-25-2011 11:27 PM

Do you think he'll return as good or still evil?

tm20 02-26-2011 01:01 AM

he'll return..... in an urn http://my.ilstu.edu/~cemushr/persona...es/rimshot.gif

Fwel Vitra 02-26-2011 01:11 AM

:) That works for me.

Human No More 02-26-2011 01:19 AM

He's dead.

Hunter of the Glade 02-26-2011 03:50 AM

In the CE opening scene, Jake was watching a documentary about extinct tigers being cloned back into existence. If that is possible in 2154, then there is a possibility of Quaritch returning as a clone maybe?

Except that cloning doesn't work like that - all it does is create a genetic double. Which, if they DID clone Quaritch, would mean in a few years they'd just have a little boy on their hands, which defeats the purpose.

Glad you mentioned that to clarify. There's a common misuse of the words/misunderstanding of "clone" and "duplicate".

A clone possesses an exact physical likeness of the original source, and is birthed and grown the same as any other human.

A duplicate is one who possesses the exact mental qualities of another, and is never birthed and/or grown, but rather animated in another physical form that resembles the exact likeness of the original. However, there's no such thing as a "genetic" duplicate, in that it's impossible for the mental properties of one person to be passed to another by inheritance.

I blame Hollywood! And sci-fi.

Although it would be cool if there was something where you could copy and transfer consciousness, but I don't really see that in Avatar!verse with the humans.

txen 02-26-2011 06:31 AM

Hey Jake and Tom were identical twins. so how about an identical twin of Quaritch inbound on the next ISV?

Woodsprite 02-26-2011 06:36 AM

That'd be pretty comic-book-like.

Human No More 02-26-2011 08:05 AM

That is horribly cheesy and really stretching the bounds of believability.

Fwel Vitra 03-07-2011 01:13 AM

Although the actor did mention something about a possible return, I highly doubt it will happen. Quaritch was the "villain", "Enemy", or "Antagonist" in this film, so naturally, they would have something else happen, rather than having the events of Avatar re-occur. I would still go see the sequel if Quaritch returns, but out with the old warhorse and in with a new problem, eh?

Human No More 03-07-2011 02:51 AM

I'd say it's far more likely he will just play a different character (probably motion capture to avoid the obvious lookalike issue) if he is back at all (it was just something he said in an interview, which was nor official and has not been confirmed) - although I doubt he will be back at all, because Quaritch was one of the main antagonists and had an extremely important death - generally, recycling actors for something like that is bad.

Woodsprite 03-07-2011 06:34 AM

As I said before though, reappearing in a movie/sequel in a different role is usually only done in irony or comedy. For example, the guy who plays the jerk doorman in Spider-Man 2 reappears in Spider-Man 3 as the slightly eccentric French restaurant host (comedy). Jason Isaacs in Peter Pan plays both Wendy's father, and Captain Hook (irony).

Ashen Key 03-07-2011 06:38 AM

Yep, what Woodsprite said, pretty much.

Also, Cameron doesn't seem the kind of person to repeat actor-choices too often - I'm sure I've read somewhere that they ended up going with Stephen Lang because Cameron had already used Michael Biehn in Aliens and the Abyss as a serious, intense military guy, and three times would be too much.
