I Declare Today to Be International "I Want to be Six Years Old Again" Day

SO WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU WERE SIX?

AND DO YOU HAVE A PIC (I'll post mine, once I find it)

Starting last night it just hit me this yen to be six years old again! Just to go back to the innocence and purity and freshness of being a kid!

Some of My favorite things:
* Raggedy Ann Doll
* Galloping Around on my Rocking Horse
* Building blocks
* Hide and Seek and Tag
* Dress Up and Tea Parties
* Somersaults (and learning to do cartwheels)
* Sitting around a campfire roasting Hotdogs, Marshmallows and drinking hot chocolate
* Mudpies
* Climbing up into my tree house
* Brownies (as in Girl-Guides)
* Making cookies with my mommy
* Collecting seashells on the beach
* Learning to skate and tobogganing
* Building forts
* Sheets on the Clothesline were Stage Curtains and putting on plays
* Putting on Puppet Shows

*

The poem below has been around for years!

I think we all need a day or more to just go back and just be kids, free with out all the cares and b.s.

I Want To Be Six Again
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·· .··. ·..· ..··. ·..· · .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ··

(AUTHOR UNKNOWN)

To Whom It May Concern:
I am hereby officially tendering my resignation
as an adult in order to accept the responsibilities
of a 6 year old. . .
The tax base is lower. . .

I want to go to McDonald's and think
it's the best place in the world to eat.
I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle
and make waves with rocks.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I want to think M&Ms are better than money
'cause you can eat them.
I want to play kickball during recess
and stay up on Christmas Eve
waiting to hear Santa and Rudolph on the roof.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I long for the days when life was simple.
When all you knew were your colors,
the addition tables, and simple nursery rhymes,
but it didn't bother you
because you didn't know what you didn't know
and you didn't care.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I want to go to school and
have snack time, recess, gym, and field trips.
I want to be happy because
I don't know what should make me upset.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I want to think the world is fair
and everyone in it is honest and good.
I want to believe that anything is possible.
Sometime, while I was maturing,
I learned too much.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I learned of nuclear weapons,
starving and abused kids,
and unhappy marriages.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I want to be six again.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I want to think that everyone,
including myself, will live forever
because I don't know the concept of death.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I want to be oblivious to the complexity of life,
and be overly excited by the little things again.
I want television to be something I watch for fun,
not something I use for escape
from the things I should be doing.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I want to live knowing the little things
I find exciting will always make me as happy
as when I first learned them.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I want to be six again.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I remember not seeing the world as a whole,
but rather being aware of only the things
that directly concerned me.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I want to be naive enough to think
that if I'm happy, so is everyone else.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I want to walk down the beach
and think only of the sand beneath my feet,
and the possibility of finding
that blue piece of sea glass I'm looking for.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I want to spend my afternoons
climbing trees and riding my bike,
letting the grownups worry about time, the dentist,
and how to find the money to fix the car.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I want to wonder what I'll do when I grow up,
not worry what I'll do if this doesn't work out.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I want that time back.
I want to use it now as an escape,
so that when my computer crashes,
or I have a mountain of paperwork,
or two depressed friends,
or second thoughts about so many things.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I want to travel back and build a snowman
without thinking about anything
except whether the snow sticks together
and what I can possibly use
for the snowman's mouth.
· .··. ·..· .··. ·..· ·
I want to be six again

-playing with lego
-drawing pictures of stuff
-playing jurassic park with friends, some would be the dinasours while others were the humans running away
-playing indiana jones with a friend and pretending to find all sorts of cool shiit
-doing stuff that always got us into trouble (like hiding so our parents couldn't find us just so we could play the nintendo after everyone left) with a friend at the day care centre

Fighter-of-Wars 11-14-2010 06:59 AM

I'm down for that.

Going down to the creek.
Playing with the dog all afternoon.
Sleeping in a tent in the living room.
Walking up to Grandmas house
Ramping Bikes at my friends house.
Digging tunnels under the yard.
Playing under the irrigation and covering myself in mud :P

What I wouldn't give to be that age again.

Caveman, TM and Fighter of Wars! Thxs for joining in! ;)

For a while there I thought no one was going to play along with me, and I'd have to go climb my tree and pout! :(

I remember a lot of things from my childhood, but I can't remember what age I was during a most of it. Ages 0-around 8, I can't remember how old I was for most of my memories. Age 9-11 is kinda hazy, I remember my age for some of it, some I can't. 12-13 is pretty much it's own blur of a period. 14-19(present), I remember my age for most of it.

So I can't really give an answer. I was in 1st grade when I was 6, so.... Hmm... This is when I first learned how to read (I could read before I could tie my shoes ??? :S Am I the only one who thinks that is weird?). I also did not like jeans at this time. I didn't like jeans for years before and years following. I always complained about the being too stiff. I guess they weren't too fun to play in. I wore wind breaker type of pants a lot... Man... This is pretty much the only things I know for sure about when I was 6.

(Although it's a really young age, I wish I was aware that my 2nd favorite album of all time was made at this time :D)

6, hmm?
I really can't remember. Probably the usual 6 year old things. I remember quite a bit from being a child but no idea what of that was from when I was 6...

Lego. Play-doh. Thunderbirds. Flying a kite with my dad and "sending messages" to it (put a piece of crumpled newspaper around the string and it will zoom up to the kite). Church fêtes.

From what I can remember...

-Being Obsessed with Pokemon
-Writing Stories (I have a whole suitcase of 'books' that I made...illustrated and all ^^)
-Playing with my dogs in the garden
-Playing fantasy unicorn/princess games with my friends in the playground
-Polly Pockets!
-Drawing, drawing and more drawing

Throughout the day I realized the importance of this mentality, and I can't let it live for just a day. This needs to be my entire life again.

*Writes down in calender for next year*

I shall make this day continue!

Human No More 11-14-2010 11:37 PM

Am I the only person who DOESN'T want to?
I always wished I was older, that I could do more, know more. I would never want to lose anything of who I am now :)

Legos spring to mind. Oh, and tossing around a foam football with my dad, too bad his back hurts him these days. :( He first took me camping around this age, just the two of us. A couple years ago we did it again, just to relive old times.

I hear you! Same here, I'm looking for ways now to bring out my six year old every day, today feeling a bit blah, I only felt better after I hugged a tree! Tomorrow I'm going to go find one to climb! I realized that as a kid I loved being outdoors all the time and suddenly this longing is back in full force, heck today I just even wanted to be a tree! :)

did you mean thunderbirds as in these guys?

http://pics.livejournal.com/hipsterdad/pic/0034191f

because if so then hell yeah! i loved thunderbirds as a kid (when i was 4-5) and then started watching it again when i was 11 or 12 when they showed it early on saturdays, then i watched it again a few years ago when they had it on the sci fi channel. I always wanted to fly in thunderbird 2. :)
