An 'Irayo' video to JC to celebrate 1 year anniversay...

Kaltxi folks, :hi:

How would you like to take part in another Avatar Communities project to say 'irayo' to James Cameron and his team on the 1 year anniversay?

I was reading a message put up by Tsamsiyua'ewan called 'Should we start an Avatar holiday?' to celebrate 1 year since the release of Avatar. I wondered what could we collectively do on that day to commemorate it?

Then it hit me! I remembered a PM I had had from AV Daedric regarding an idea for another Avatar Communities project! The idea was that we all say to camera what Avatar means to us then edit it all together to make a film that we could put on iTunes, You Tube etc. We could then try and get them folks at Lightstorm Entertainment to see it. We would be sending them a message!: A heart felt thank you from us to James Cameron and his team. :hi:

So who would be up for it?

If people think this is a goer then the plan is as follows:

Record to a camera/phone/webcam ONE thing that the film Avatar has meant to you or what you would like to say to JC and/or his team/cast.

It can be the smallest thing, it can be the biggest thing, it can be the inspiration it has given you, it can be your eye’s being opened to the world around you, it can simply be you just like the film. If you have made friends on the forum, try saying something together. And they can be edited together. If you want to say something in Na’vi that’s fine. (Please forward me the English translation in a PM linking to your clip.) It would be great if everyone could say ‘irayo’ together too!

You can film it wherever you like - but make sure the sound is clear - very important!!! You can record your footage out in the open, or surrounded by your Avatar 'stuff' or just doing every day things. Use you imagination - but be safe.

Whatever it is you do it must be not longer than 10 seconds in order to fit every one into a short 10 minute video letter to JC. This means for a ten minute video we could fit 60 people into the video. You can actually say a lot in ten seconds, yer know!

Once you have filmed your footage, name the video file with both your forum name and your real name (if you are happy to do so), then upload the video via this website: www.thetaylorssite.f2s.com.

The upload box will send them to a mediafire folder where I can download them from for editing together. I need all your footage in by the end of Sunday 5th December in order for me to have enough time to edit it together and get it up loaded in time for the 1st anniversary of Avatar on 18th December.

However the sooner you can get it to me the better. Remember – as short as you can and don’t forget to add an 'IRAYO' clip! It would also be great if you could add a clip saying: 'You have brought us together'. ;)

Anything more than 10 seconds and I may have to cut it short. 10 seconds gives you about 30 words to play with. I know we all would like to say so much more, but we must keep it tight and to the point to convey our thoughts together as well as fit in everyone who wants to take part.

Remember if you are under 18, make sure your parents or guardians are ok with you doing this. I don’t want anyone getting into trouble – including me!

Appologies for the ‘carpet bombing’ approach to this message, but we don’t have long and I wanted to give everyone the opportunity of contributing.

So if you are up for it - roll cameras…annnnd….ACTION!

I look forward to your responses.

Irayo ma aysumkan si aysmuke,

Alan

I'm in :D

Edit: Any epic Na'vi speakers want to give the pronunciation of irayo to make sure I get it right? :)

Elyannia 11-29-2010 08:55 PM

10 seconds? I think I might be able to manage that lol.

Stanley_9875 11-29-2010 10:02 PM

You can count me in Alan.

tm20 11-30-2010 12:53 AM

i want to say thankyou my brothers and sisters but im not sure.. i know its "Irayo" but then does it go "matsmukan si tsmuke"? or is it something else, there seems to be 2 words for "and"

Stanley_9875 11-30-2010 01:22 AM

if its more than one person its aytsmuke si aytsmukan

adding the "ay" before the word makes it plural

tm20 11-30-2010 02:55 AM

irayo :)

You can say aytsmuk rather than specify both.

Kaltxi folks,

Hope things are going well with getting ready to film your thoughts on Avatar. If any one has any queries about filming of whatever, don't hsitate to ask. Also don't worry if you go a bit over 10 seconds. This is just a guideline so we can fit everyone in.

Kiyevame,

Alan

P.S. Is 'irayo' said: 'I-ray-o'?

Fighter-of-Wars 11-30-2010 09:50 PM

I'm in.

It's going to be wonderful to be part of this.

Alan 11-30-2010 10:42 PM

Excellent!

If anyone else wants to take part all you have to do is say to camera what Avatar means to you. There are more details at the start of the thread...

Hunter of the Glade 11-30-2010 10:59 PM

Alan, you can sign me up!

Alan 11-30-2010 11:07 PM

One Hunter of the Glade signed up.

Anymore takers for the opprtunity to say what Avatar means to you and say 'iryao' to James Cameron?

Tymian 11-30-2010 11:12 PM

Hell Yeah, I'm in :)

Elyannia 12-01-2010 02:33 AM

So does anyone know the correct way to pronounce Irayo? Lol

Gunny 12-01-2010 05:12 AM

I am most definitely in on this project! :)

I already asked... :S

tm20 12-01-2010 12:40 PM

already submitted my footage :) let's get this done!

CyanRachel 12-01-2010 04:35 PM

Would love to contribute to this, Alan, but alas, I cannot this time. Bad timing for me, with being so busy getting ready to move into a new apartment. No time to film anything. Well, I look forward to seeing the completed film -- I know it'll be great.

CyanRachel 12-01-2010 04:40 PM

As I've said previously, I wish I could contribute, but I can't this time. Not good timing for me right now.
I look forward to seeing the finished film though.

LOVEavatar 12-01-2010 05:10 PM

I'd love to join in but I have no idea how Irayo is precisely pronounced :S I've tried to find a vid on youtube (Navi Professor) but no luck so far :(

Help anyone?

Alan 12-01-2010 08:59 PM

Aww, that's a shame ma tsmuke. :( Oh well... Hope you apartment move goes well for you so you are nicely settled in for Christmas.:hi:

Hey folks, we've had our first bit of footage in for our 'Irayo' film. I'm going to make a start of the title sequence for it soon. I'm betting there are many of us would would love to say what this film Avatar means to us. Now is the opportunity to say it together. So if your out there feel free to join in. Details above. And if you not sure about taking part well then take a look at what people from this forum and AF achieved together earlier this year:

Alan 12-01-2010 09:06 PM

Hey folks, This morning I downloaded the first footage from tm20 for our 'Irayo' film. Irayo tm20!

I would pronounce 'Irayo' as 'I-ray-o', not 'Ir-ay-o' if that helps.

Great to see more aytsmukan si aytsmuke joining the clan.

Do you have to pronounce the r like in spanish? I'm so nervous to do this :shy: I hate being in front of the camera XD

Hey, I've like never done it before either so... >.>

And how is a spanish R pronounced anyway? :hmm:

And are you supposed to roll any of the letters???

Well there are a couple of reasons for the ten minute overall length:

It is a nominal time limit for some video hosting sites. Although some, like You Tube have upped that limit to 15 minutes.

10 minutes is about the normal attention span for people watching video clips on the internet.

Having said that if it ends up going over ten minutes it is no problem. It is a guideline to star with. Similarly if someone goes a little over 10 secs for their message again it is no real problem. The reason I set the limit was the allow everyone an equal chance to say what Avatar means to them.

Hope that answers your question. But if you have any more, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hmmm...duno. I don't think I would 'roll' the 'R'. There is a Na'vi language site that might be able to help.

Hey don't worry about being shy. I was the same. But then I ended up filming to camera in the middle of Nottingham with everyone watching!! Now that was a scary moment. When we did the previous forum film very few of us had stood in front of the camera to deliver lines, but we did it.

Just talk as though you we speaking to a friend, telling them what Avatar means to you. You'll be fine. :)

tm20 12-01-2010 11:41 PM

the R is like Ra Ri Ru Re Ro in Japanese. its in between an R and L sound. its not hard, watch some youtube videos on japanese or spanish

Hunter of the Glade 12-02-2010 12:33 AM

I know exactly what I'm going to do for this :D

Elyannia 12-02-2010 12:35 AM

Hehe be ready for some cheese! :D

Human No More 12-02-2010 01:37 AM

Yeah, I thought the rolled r was the rr one. Anyway, hope I have it right now, will record my bit tomorrow, hope you don't mind that it will be done on a phone, although it does still do 720p video so shouldn't be too bad :)

Elyannia 12-02-2010 02:07 AM

Yeah mine will most likely be done on my laptop camera XD

Alan 12-02-2010 06:45 AM

HNM - Nope, that's fine. We used some phone footage in the previous film. Just remember to have the phone horizontal and not vertical!

Elyannia - that is fine too. The improtant thing is that the sound is clear to get you thoughts across.

Human No More 12-02-2010 02:37 PM

Ok, uploaded mine, needs some editing though, and will need resizing probably, let me know if that makes it too zoomed in and I can redo it, no problem.

Alan 12-02-2010 09:27 PM

Irayo HNM! I've downloaded it, but haven't had chance to look at it yet. Will do though.

Well, folks I've had three contributions so far and it is not even the weekend yet! Remember if you would like to say what Avatar means to you and offer an irayo to James Cameron and his team in time for the one year anniversary, then feel free to joins us. It is an ideal opportunity. Details are at the start of the thread. Don't worry too much if you need a little longer than the suggested time to say what you want to say...
