Quote:

AVATAR is now available in 3D on Blu-ray! What? Yes, that's right – if you buy a Panasonic 3D TV starting Dec. 1 you'll get AVATAR in 3D bundled with it. Fox gave Panasonic an exclusive license to include the 3D Blu-ray of AVATAR with sales of its 3D TVs starting Dec 1st.

And, according to Blu-ray.com, it's amazing. Avatar 3D Blu-ray Review

Elyannia 12-01-2010 08:01 PM

Damn maybe I should have waited to buy it o.o

ISV Venture Star 12-01-2010 08:04 PM

Is it definitely the collector's edition and not the theatrical edition?

AVATAR 3D Blu-Ray Available Now

It's only the theatrical version from what I read on blu-ray.com.

The review itself is very positive. Nothing but praise. Besides, that's the reviewer's rating. The users at Blu-ray.com love the movie. They can't get enough of it.

It's the bare-bones edition. :(

Tymian 12-01-2010 08:19 PM

True and this is only bd 50 gb so it have worse picture q then normal bd edition. Imo best option is to wait for normal premiere with blu-ray 100 gb discs :P

Looks awesome, but nevertheless I'm saving my money again...for when the TV becomes a direct portal to Pandora. :xD:

Human No More 12-02-2010 01:35 AM

I wish I had a 3D monitor... :(

PaTRioT 12-02-2010 09:02 AM

I know why it's being released exclusively... I just wish I could buy it now anyway, cuz I bought 120hz monitor and 3D vision for gaming mainly, but gaawd. full length Avatar in 3D?! I want it nooooowwwww!

I downloaded a 3 minute 50 second clip from some promotional 3D video site, and I can say, it looks fantastic in 3D, would be better on a good sized 3D tv, but 24" monitor is better than nothing. interesting to note the filesize though. the 3min 50sec clip at 1080p with only a 128kbps stereo audio track. 662mb. I cant imagine how big the whole movie would be uncompressed with the DTS HD audio track aswell. :O guess thats why it'll only be released on blu-rays (the 3D version)

Tymian 12-02-2010 09:28 AM

Still i would wait for proper Extended edition with blu-ray 100gb discs ;p

And you can get that copy either way from ebay or from other sources.

Vauktu 12-02-2010 12:06 PM

I saw Avatar on a 3D TV a couple months ago, but it wasn't genuine 3D. Still looked amazing though, and I'm sure the real 3D looks even better.

Tymian 12-02-2010 12:15 PM

Well That 3d sample from Avatar CE disc 3 looks amazing :D

Vauktu 12-02-2010 12:21 PM

I have no 3D TV so I can't watch it. :(

Grif 12-14-2010 04:03 PM

I do not want to buy a ****ing TV and bluray player to get the movie. What the bloody hell Fox, I hope you (and by you I mean whatever executive thought this was a good idea) realize that bundling this with a TV and bluray player will cut sales down to 1%.

Human No More 12-14-2010 05:05 PM

Yeah, it's bad... a lot of people want it but can't get it :(

Tymian 12-14-2010 05:25 PM

i think that soon 3d tech will be a lot cheaper and more advanced/mature, so I'll wait till then to actually buy it.

Grif 12-14-2010 05:50 PM

I might be able to get it if I can find a reason to buy a surround sound stereo system, but I've already got it in two rooms, and I don't really have another tv that could use it.

PaTRioT 12-14-2010 10:17 PM

*sigh* I may possibly have given into temptation and just bought a copy of the 3D blu-ray on ebay... =\ Damn exclusive releases... Making dirty shmucks who sell their copies very rich!

Grif 12-15-2010 12:51 AM

I have the money, but I'm to practical to buy it! Damn you practicality!

Win.

Also, "M - Violence" wait what?

ISV Venture Star 12-20-2010 01:02 PM

I have the money, but I'm going to bide my time. I don't want the TE on 50GB discs, I want the CE on 100GB discs!

Plus this will give me more time to save up for a monster TV. One that will make my early 21st century hovel look like Jake's mid 22nd century hovel!

When are 100gb discs coming out? from what I've read/heard, I was of the impression that 3D avatar was panasonic's exclusively til 2012 sometime. (seems to only be available via redemption with their TV's) but yeah, if 100gb discs allow the movie to play as smooth as the 2 3D trailers do on the extended collectors edition, then that would be quite awesome indeed.

this is what I'm watching it on now... got a 50" Samsung, series 7 3D plasma
