Same here.

I can usually hold it when I want, but heck why would I want ? :P

At least these movies have made me cry:

- Avatar
- Titanic
- Dances with Wolves

The list could be a lot longer if I watched more movies, but really, before Avatar I didn't case much about movies :)

I usually don't cry or get choked up in movies but there are a few that make me cry, get choked up, or misty eyed:

Avatar (the destruction of hometree in particular)

the end of Dances with Wolves when Dunbar must leave the tribe and Wind in His Hair calls to him...wow..I get choked up there

The Last Samurai
Hero (the double suicide part)
Braveheart (of course, especially the execution scene)
Gladiator (the ending when that gorgeous voice of Lisa Gerrard comes out singing Now we are Free)
The Fellowship of the Ring (especially the end)
The Return of the King (there are many scenes that make me cry in this one)
The Passion (wow, this one is very painful to watch and I cry every time)
Up (that 10-15 montage at the beginning with Carl and Ellie..wow!! Makes me cry every time)
Wall-e (the end especially)
Toy Story 3 (the incinerator scene and when Andy gives away the toys)
Titanic (mostly the montage of the different passengers who were patiently awaiting their end, especially the quartet and the mother telling the last bedtime story her children will ever hear)

I actually started to get choked up in the Abyss when the woman (can't remember her name) drowns and then the Ed Harris character is trying to revive her. That is a painful scene.

I'm sure there are other ones I have choked up in but that is just a small portion. NB: normally I will get choked up when not only the scene is emotional but the music is too. It is VERY important in any movie as we all well know and sometimes you just can't help but to get teary eyed.

Also, kinda at the end of Inception.

Let me think....

Avatar (only on the fourth sitting, I have never cried watching avatar since)

Stargate SG-1 (several episodes throughout seasons 1-10)

Battlestar Galactica - Re-imagined (1 or 2 season 4 episodes)

Fellowship of the ring

Return of the king (I'm a big baby during this one)

The Shawshank Redemption

The last Samurai

Star Trek (several episodes in the various live action T.V series')

The Wrath of Khan (when Spock died)

There's actually a lot more I just can't think of right now.

I think it would be an interesting investigation for a story writer to watch all of these movies and shows we all have been pouting about (lol). It would make for some good learning material. I'm no English dude, just throwing the idea out there.

I'm surprised no one here has mentioned "Grave of the Fireflies", anyone seen it?

It's a very powerful and devastating 1988 animated drama about the effects of WWII in Hiroshima after the bombing, two orphan siblings left from their mother go in search of a new home. It's very heartbreaking and will choke you up badly, i saw it when i was 14 in the mid-90's thanks to a great review of it on Siskel and Ebert as it touched my heart.

See it.

Books and music tend to make me cry more than movies. But there are a few that have made me tear up or even full blown cried.
Avatar-Because of it's beauty and because of the destruction of Hometree.
Repo! The Genetic Opera-Blind Mag's death/Chromaggia song. Also Nathans death. Those scenes just tear me up inside.
Sweeny Todd-The ending
A Walk to Remember-Jamie's death
Trueblood-(Not a movie haha but still) When Bill left :(

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King almost got me. Not quite, but close. :P

LOVEavatar 01-11-2011 07:18 PM

Not just this scene, but the whole movie itself. :'(

*sniff* Possibly the most beauitful movie moment I've ever watched. For a none HP-fan it might be hard to really feel the emotion in this scene, the deep friendship between Harry and Hermione that has been growing through all the years. It's not just a dance, it is Harry and Hermione truly expressing the love they have for each other. Not love as mates, but love as friends, as a brother and a sister.

Hermione's 1:39 smile gets me every time. :') *tears up*

sry for bad quality btw. bluray release in April.

"Schindlers list" was pretty sad.

Aketuan 01-11-2011 11:03 PM

Avatar is the only movie as of yet to make me cry...However several star trek episodes have made me cry. Usually the ones near the end of a series. (These are the voyages, all good things, What You leave behind, Endgame)
