Anyone who doesn't want a sequel?
There was quite some discussion on avatar-forums about this, and not yet here. Are there people who think critical about sequels or would prefer that no sequels would be made?
Me, I don't need sequels. The risk is high that it will be disappointing and not as good as the first movie. The expectations are high. If, e.g., RDA comes back, and another war, it's a repetition. The story of Avatar is already told, the story of Jake coming to Pandora, his conflict, changing sides to the Na'vi and eventually becoming one. They should now rebuild the clan, have family and a happy life... For those who want to have more, you could just let your imagination flow or read fan-fictions, there are very nice sequel stories. |
The first avatar movie does seem rather complete on its own. I am quite torn to be honest.
JC has said that each movie in the trilogy will be full story by itself so I think I will be looking forward to it. |
Of course I want a sequel. Just LOOK at that ending, that is so clearly setting u or a sequel.
I want MORE of Pandora, MORE Neytiri, MORE of the Na'vi... ...I want to go home, again. |
My immediate answer is a resounding yes, just 'cause I'd be excited to see another story take place on Pandora and with Jake, Neytiri, etc. Another cinematic adventure would be great to have.
However, I do feel the movie is good enough to stand up all on its own as a single film. If I learned that all planned sequels were canceled, I'd be very disappointed but I wouldn't feel like there was another story needing to be told that just got completely neglected. If that makes any sense. I think James Cameron is a good enough filmmaker that the sequel will be very good and that he won't fail to deliver. Personally, I hope he does everything he can to silence all the critics that attacked him the first time around. |
Hell yeah i want a Sequel for sure :) There is so much more to see and to explore, i really look so much forward to it.

If you don't want a sequel, then don't go see it when it comes out.
|
I want to see a sequel because I'm not satisfied with just seeing Jake opening his eyes... and that's it. I want to see what happens next.
...I guess I'm a little over-hopeful when it comes to sequels, because I usually love them or want them. I'm a fan for continuing stories. |
I want the full story arc. There's so much left that I want to know about, But mostly more of Pandora and the Na'vi.

I'm not sure. As said, Avatar seems pretty complete, and I'd rather just that if the sequel turns out to be....
..you know. :S |
There is always a very small chance of that happening, but JC wouldn't dare screw up the sequel(s).

Nevertheless I am definitely looking forward to it. It is James Cameron after all. |
JC knows what he's doing. He doesn't make bad films :)
|
Well without hesitation I chose 'yes'. Don't say too early that the story arc might be the same. Just blankly doing the same movie over again is something JC would never consider. I mean, this is after all the story he have been wanting to tell for all his life. If I were him, I would not want to screw that up :P
And what you say about fan fics... I've read them, trust me. And now I want more of the real movie :( The FF's are lovely in their own place, but they are NOTHING compared to what the sequel might be. And they just make me sorta depressed. I can picture how the stories would play out on a avatar movie, but that they never will be is a huge let down :/ I was actually very obsessed with them back in spring... but then they lost their grip of me. |
He's said he wrote it as a trilogy. That means that most of the base plot is already established, and fits well in his mind.
