The Specs of this computer...
I'm thinking of buying the following PC:
Specification Intel Core i7 950 Processor - 3.06GHz NOW 4GHz+ Corsair H50 Water Cooling 6GB Corsair XMS 3 Memory Asus P6X58D-E Motherboard Corsair 600CX Power Supply Seagate 500GB SATAII Ultra Fast Hard Disk Gainward Geforce GTS 450 "Goes Like Hell" 1024MB Overclocked Performance Graphics Ultra Fast Samsung DVDRW 7.1 High Definition Surround Sound 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN 2x USB 3.0 Ports 8x USB 2.0 Ports Firewire As the idiot I am, I have little to no experience with gaming on a computer. I really would like to know if this computer is powerful enough to run oblivion on high with a playable framerate. Can anyone with experience help? |
All I know is that "3.06GHz", "6GB Memory" and "1024MB VRAM" are good things to have!

Are you able to make changes to the hardware before buying?
If so, replace the GTS 450 with a GTX 460 (1GB 256-bit version) |
One look at the specs, and it's clear -
This computer definitely needs more Neytiri. |

Oh and, Lyra - you will definitely be able to run Oblivion in any way whatsoever with that hardware ;)
Heck, you should even be able to run TESV when it arrives next November :D |
500gb? D:
|
Yes... oblivion. it will run.
However, the GPU is the limiting factor. I'd get a GTX570, it's the sweet spot for price/performance at the moment. |
That will run anything that's out at the moment on maximum, but I second the advice to upgrade the GPU if you want to future proof it more :)

As long as it has a big screen
|
That computer should be more than enough. Never played Oblivion before, but I did buy a gaming computer two years ago which had half those specs and it has had more than enough power to run what I play.
