V for Vendetta

Just watched this movie with a friend, freaking epic.

Strong resemblance to 1984 and The Count of Monte Cristo, two of some of my favorite books of all time. V was just a straight badass, almost badass enough to stand up to Jules in a badass-fight (not quite though). His freaking knife skills in the movie reminded me of Assassin's Creed ridiculousness. But the sad part is that our society is steps away from becoming similar to this, with propoganda and censorship, luckily there's some of us that are more aware to not fall for it.

(Spoiler alert)
What's funny is that we were both guessing on who V would be, and I drew the striking resemblance between the movie and The Count of Monte Cristo (before they watched The Count of Monte Cristo in the movie), and my friend had the firm belief that V was going to be Evey's dad at the end. Then when the inspector asked Evey who V was she said "Edmond Dantes (the main character of The Monte Cristo), my father, my brother, etc...", LOL, epic win.

It's a good film, but the realism part is the point - it's a warning, exactly like 1984.

That movie is indeed great. However, the Gunpowder Treason rhyme is why I LOVE this movie. "Remember, remember the 5th of November...." Nov. 5th is my B-day XD.

I remember first watching it a few years ago. It is sad to see the world slowly slipping closer to that reality. My dad really loved this movie. He bought the illustrated book that it was based off of. And he even got the mask.

Yeah, it is sad to see us move closer and closer to that society...with this whole WikiLeaks censorship nonsense, it's times like these that we especially need to "remember, remember the 5th of November."

The difference is that the closest case of fascism to that we've seen were in the days of WWII.

Unfortunately I'm sure Assange (and others involved with Wikileaks, maybe a few Anons) are probably going to find themselves inside some world leader's "black bags" one of these days.:(

If anything happens to Assange... remember the scene with the crowd wearing masks?

That's the power of it. People care but do nothing. When something changes that, history shows the results.

Yeah, there will always be the one's who see the truth...but can they always reveal it to everyone else? We all fall victim to it, we go through the motions some days, go on cruise control...awareness is the key. It's easy to go through High School, College, life, work, just getting by...the key is to be aware and give it 100%, and people like us won't be allowed to be oppressed or treated unfairly by any governing body.

I really, really liked the idea of the "totem" from Inception. In today's society it's so easy to be absorbed by our surroundings and our technology (hell, we're absorbed by technology right now posting on here), we each need our own way to remember to stay in the real world, to stay aware. It might be somewhat far fetched to say right now, but some day we might need our awareness to avoid propaganda and subliminal mind influence from our own advancements...

This is my second favorite movie, right next to Avatar. XD I saw it a couple days ago after years of having seen it, and now I'm obsessed with it. :P

There's a section of sheet music included at the beginning of Chapter 2 of the book. This is what you get if you play it.
