Save Avatar-Forums

Hello, Tree-of-Souls. Avatar-Forums is down. Lack of payments. Could be the end of the forum, but not if we can help it. I don't know how Sadao's message about donating can get to the members of AF, since the site can't be accessed, so we're basically it. As far as I know, we're the only primary hope AF has of surviving.

Fellow Avatarians, our sister site is in danger. Here's the most recent update from Sadao:

This time the account has been suspended, this is do to a lack of payment because the funds are not available especially with Lon. Now currently thee only way to get the site back up is if we can make the $140 dollar payment. Now there is away to fix this, we will need to you to donate through my personal website through this link Sadao's Workshop. Once there is enough money raised I'll send in the payment.

Thanks for you help,
-Sadao

This is serious, not only for Lon and the payments, but for the thousands of other members who will be without a forum if AF is gone for good. About 95% of us have come from Avatar-Forums. We discovered each other there. We talked about our first subjects there. We contributed so much before coming here, and some even afterward. So many memories are held by all of us who knew AF. If you can, spare an amount to donate if you care enough about the welfare of AF and its members. Save Avatar-Forums.

Also, it seems like Sadao's link doesn't record in real-time how much was donated, so if you've donated, post your amount here so I can record the donation status in this post.

CURRENT DONATION STATUS:

Aketuan: $10
Apollo: $10
Grif: $10
James of terra: $50
Loverofnature: $10
SnowRider: $40
Tsyal Makto: $21.54
txim_asawl: $20
Txantsulsam Fyawintxu: $50

TOTAL: $221.54

...Think we can go for $280?

Grif 01-11-2011 05:45 AM

I donated $10, it hasn't shown up yet though. I hate that site, but it was special to me once.

Neytiri. 01-11-2011 05:52 AM

Bump.

I'd donate but I currently don't have a credit card, Bumping to raise this to the top.

Aketuan 01-11-2011 05:55 AM

I think that we need to come up with a more permanent solution than going around and trying to collect 140$ each month... Maybe a new host or a different way of packaging it to avoid those crazy costs.

I will definitely be donating and I'm not saying to not donate, just to get through this crisis and then spend some serious effort into getting this issue figured out permanently, because all that I can say is good luck raising $6,720 to keep it up until the sequel comes out.

Everyone that can, should put in a little so that we can save the forums for long enough to figure out a long term solution.

Txantsulsam Fyawintxu 01-11-2011 05:57 AM

Yeah... But in this case I'll be doing it for one time only. Lon needs to figure it all out and cut things back before things get worse. It's not right... Thinking of perhaps donating $50...

Woodsprite 01-11-2011 06:01 AM

In my opinion, it'd be best if we raised the $140 Lon needs to get it running for another month, and then Lon must use that time he has to sell the website to someone else. He doesn't have the financial capability to run AF anymore; selling would not only be the responsible thing, but the considerate thing for all the members.

SnowRider 01-11-2011 06:02 AM

I just donated $40, which if we can find a couple other people to do the same, means we're almost there for this month.

But, $40 plus $50 is $90, meaning if we can find someone else to kick in $50 then we're there.

Tsteu Taronyu 01-11-2011 06:03 AM

Is Lon still running AF? Wow, I really should touch base more often.
I would donate, except I don't have a means of payment.
Anyways, I'll provide a means of support through morale: Help Save Avatar-Forums guys! It all started with Avatar Forums! Many of us (including me) wouldn't be here without them!

Woodsprite 01-11-2011 06:04 AM

Then there's Grif's $10, which means only $40 left to go.

Txantsulsam Fyawintxu 01-11-2011 06:08 AM

Yeah... Fwel is thinking of donating too. He's thinking about spending approximately $40.. Which would be your extra amount of payment due... Plus, I have all of my old stuff there; my topic, my posts, blog... Everything! Can't afford to lose that... :'(

Might want to go archive all of the stuff you want to keep in case some horrific event occurs and everything vanishes for no reason :/

Aketuan 01-11-2011 06:11 AM

I just put in $10...

I know... :/ That's the only reason why I'm spending my money on this case...

And @Aketuan, good! We'll need all the more we can get! :) :hi:

...It seems like Sadao's link doesn't record in real-time how much was donated, so if you've donated, post your amount here so I can record it in the first post. I'm editing this message into the OP.

Vauktu 01-11-2011 06:18 AM

It's sad to see AF like this. I'll try and see if I can donate anything.

Selling the site could work, but really, who would actually buy it? I think a more logical approach would be to pitch in ideas and figure out a way to bring in more traffic as well as donations.
