Anti-RDA movement on Earth?
 

I'm SURE I read, somewhere, about there being an anti-RDA movement back on Earth (I want to say, the people who leaked the Activist Guide, but I don't own it, so I can hardly check), but I can't find anything on it, or indeed confirmation that it exists.

It's starting to bug me, and may just feature in a fic (at least Speak, Friend, if it exists - and maybe others), and I'd really like to know if it exists (and thus, I don't have to make it up <.< )

So, anyone else know anything, or is it just a figment of my imagination?

There are little tidbits of information and hints scattered all throughout the Activist Survival Guide that collectively suggest there is an active anti-RDA movement on Earth, a "Resistance" to the RDA, if you will.

That has some interesting implications for the sequel(s), to say the least.

(and the idea of an anti-RDA "Resistance" figures prominently in my fanfic)

I'm nearly surprised that there isn't an anti-RDA movement on our Earth right now, inspired by Avatar. There's really no way that an anti-RDA movement doesn't exist on Earth in the Avatar universe.

Some form of resistance probably exists but I'd imagine its mostly in the form of media and political lobbying.

But what about all the big environmental organization now days? Green Peace? (You guys probably know more.) I mean... they can't just simply have died out!... can they? There has to be people who fight to pass the message on and on, in hope for it to be of help in the future. People devoted to this do not simply give up.

Ooh, good, I didn't make it up. Um, if you don't mind - what KIND of hints? Like I said, I DON"T have the Activist Survival Guide, and it's highly unlikely I'll get my hands on it.

*g* Nice. So far in my ginormous epic, Trudy's younger sister Frankie is being a least a little shifty in regards to what she may or may not be doing against the RDA, hence why I'd like work out what they are up to.

And, LOVEavatar, I'm sure there is still movements like that - hell, particularly with the colonies on Mars and the Moon, you'd get people screaming about not messing up other places.

There's a lot in the survival guide, but it's never mentioned elsewhere. I hope it will appear in the sequel in some form :)
They seem to be both supporting the Na'vi and interested in reversing what has happened on Earth.

Oh, cool. Um...could you tell me what they seem to DO, according to the guide? Like I said, I'm not joking about the fact that a) I don't have it and b) it's not likely I'll get it anytime soon. But I really am interested, and I can't find ANYTHING on the wiki, and it's driving me a little crazy.

Most of it is information, there are a few mentions of communication with the Na'vi and/or scientists on Pandora, but no mentions of specific actions taken on Earth.

Annoying about the lack of actions, but hey, more room to make things up. And ooooooooooooooooooooooh on the communiction. Okay, that could work really well for what I have in mind for Speak, Friend. Thanks! :D

Any idea what sorts of things are being said between the resistance and the Na'vi? Sounds pretty interesting. (Unless I read your post wrong.)

I don't think the resistance and the Na'vi have ever communicated. As it sounds in the Survival Guide, it seems like the resistance is trying to bring samples of Pandoran plants back that could be used to heal the environment (as opposed to unobtainium).

I'm quite interested as to how JC's going to explain the RDA being a maniacal government force when the US is still a global superpower. (ie: the USMC still exists) This is either going to be major retcon or an interesting tale.

Maybe WE should start an anti-RDA right now! An organisation against commercial space-exploration.

Whatever we might find from the space, dead rocks or unknown civilisations, greedy shareholders shouldn't be in control of it.
