Our Descent Upon the Exhibit! Calling all U.S. PNW Members!

Okay.

So, as some of you may know, there will be an exhibit at the Seattle Sci-Fi museum for Avatar. I know which room it will be in, as I have been there recently and have seen their "rotating exhibit room", and this will be big.

As some of you are also aware, there are many of us who live on the west coast of the U.S./the Pacific Northwest. For those who have a way to get there, this would be a great opportunity for a meetup.

Personally, the car I would have used to get there got annhiliated in a bad car accident this fall, so I don't know how I would get there, but if anyone was interested in harboring me, I would be willing to pay for gas and such. Other than that, I would probably have to use a train to get there, which, while still feasible, may or may not work as well in regards to timing (I have ye tto do any real research on it, however).

So, if you're interested, and you live on the west coast (or live further away but think you can make it anyway), post in here what dates and times you could make it.

Let it begin!

Ok, first off I live in Colorado, so I'm not that close comparatively...however I am extremely interested in seeing the exhibit and having a meet-up. I don't think that I would ever go on my own, but with fellow Avatartians, it would be great!!

So...that being said, count me in! :) (most likely)
I am available for most of this summer, there are a few dates that I'm busy but I don't have them off hand. Weekends work out best but weeks are ok too.

Also, if anyone lives in the Colorado/Utah/Nevada/Wyoming/Idaho/California/Oregon/Montana regions needs a ride or would like to carpool up to Seattle, I would be happy to pick them up. I have room for 5 in my car. Also Raiden, I could easily pick you up on the way...?

Luckily we have time to plan out the details, and I think the more people that come, the better!

UPDATE:
Also, since so many people are going for the opening weekend (June 4th) I would suggest that we go at the same time. I'm open for the whole week.

For anyone who needs a ride, I would pick you up either the 2nd or the 3rd, based on which state you live in.

Anybody who is up for an Avatar road trip to the exhibit, sign on! :)

You can count me in also, for the opening weekend...although my flight will be from New Jersey (I live in the Northeast), and I plan on getting a hotel room in Seattle (hopefully nearby to where the museum is). In the next month or so I'll be able to make my travel arrangements. I can meet up with fellow Avatarans at the exhibit.

Kaltxi....I am definitely going for the opening weekend for the exhibit. A few of my friends from another Avatar forum are going as well. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I am probably going to be buying my plane ticket in February.

I am going to be doing some more researching on hotels and places to stay. There seems to be a few near or around the museum but I think it depends on how much you want to spend for accommodations. There are a few that looked really nice but then a few that looked kinda so so. I think it's a personal choice on what you want to spend.

I will post more information any chance I get and keep everyone updated on what I can find out. ;)

I've replied to Raiden already--but here are my plans...

Hmmm---I live in So. Oregon (Eagle Point)--My wife & I are going to Portland the evening of June 10th & will be joining a friend to goto the Exhibit June 12th--stay the night & return to Portland on the 13th...from there we visit friends & relatives around Cannon Beach (about a 1.5 hr drive from Portland) & return to So.Oregon about the 16th......Don't know where you're located, but I'm open to plans at this point...I only get 1 week vacation a year & this is what I'm planning for this year...it was my turn to plan the trip & Seattle was my ONLY choice :)

I have no idea what my life is going to be like by then. I am currently juggling some surgeries and other things in the next month.
I would totally love to make it a road trip from San Diego with my son, but again, that is way too far in advance for me to plan.
I will have a better handle on my life in another two months as far as making any travel plans.
::sigh::
My life just got very complicated the last few months and will be for the next few after this.
I so want to see that exhibit though, the actual props and things used in the movie... damn... research materials up close and personal!

Just found this thread. I'm in the Seattle area, so most definitely will be attending. We'll have to wake this thread back up--or start another--as the date nears and see how many will be there, figure out how we might meet up or identify each other there, etc.

Looking forward!!

You and me both, and I actually live on the West Coast.

I am going to make the trip, got to get more info, and waiting for my passport!

Aaron 02-06-2011 05:06 AM

Excellent. I think we should all wear blue baseball hats with Na'vi ears as a way of spotting each other. ;)

ISV Venture Star 02-06-2011 05:19 AM

I think that the people who aren't doing a full on cosplay should get a little bit of blue and white facepaint and do what Trudy did.

Aaron 02-06-2011 05:27 AM

It will be interesting to see how many show up fully outfitted. It is, after all, not billed as a convention, but rather as a museum exhibit. Although I have been to the EMP, and it's a pretty cool place--not your typical museum!
