Irayo Fiyerwall for sorting the transport out. I guess this is normal practice in case no one turns up. Well, wait 'till the get a load of us! $23 is fine with me.

Well, only one more day at work and then I start my adventure to join you all in Seattle....

It feels like I'm going to take my life to a whole new level! ;)

mikkowilson 05-26-2011 12:11 AM

Ok, this just got posted: http://www.tree-of-souls.com/avatar_...ng_panels.html

What's the plan? I'm basically going to just buy my tickets now to both.

- Mikko

mikkowilson 05-26-2011 12:24 AM

Heh, tickets to both purchased.

This page lists other events at the exhibition on opening day also: empmuseum.org - CALENDAR - Upcoming Events -

Interesting "member only" stuff in the morning. Anyone else considering membership? $50 each, $65 for 2 people. Cheaper if we pair up.
EMPSFM Members Only event info: http://www.empmuseum.org/calendar/in...11&eventID=853

Also; I'm a Skxawng. All this time I've thought the exhibition itself was at PSC (Pacific Science Center); no, it's at EMPFM (Experience Music Project / Science Fiction Museum). Both at Seattle Center, but completely different.

- Mikko

mikkowilson 05-26-2011 12:32 AM

Apparently the 2 sessions are in the JBL Theater; and according to EMPSFM's website; that venue only hold 191 people. Not much space.

Are we just all going to jump on this and get a ToS section? :)

- Mikko

misstammie 05-26-2011 01:25 AM

I haven't bought any tickets yet for the exhibition. I just saw there was a members special for $50, is that correct? I just want to know if anyone else would be willing to pay for that Membership deal since there seems to be a lot of really awesome activities that will be taking place for that. I am thinking seriously about doing it. Sounds fantastic! :) Does the member thing also cover the exhibition ALONG with the JBL theater events? AND THEN I SEE THIS .....WOW....ARE YOU KIDDING ME? SWEET!!!

AVATAR: The Actors' Experience JBL Theater
12:30 PM, Doors at Noon.
Join us for a star-studded insider look into the making of James Cameron’s Avatar with principal cast members Michelle Rodriguez (Trudy Chacon), Giovanni Ribisi (Parker Selfridge), Laz Alonso (Tsu’tey), and Grammy and 4-time Emmy-nominated actress CCH Pounder (Mo’at). Hear from the actors themselves what it was like to act in a virtual world, utilizing new filmmaking technologies, and be a part of the highest-grossing movie of all time. Exhibition curator Brooks Peck will lead the intimate discussion with the actors and take questions from the audience.

Whose gonna become a "MEMBER?" Thinking I am going to do this seriously! :D:awesome:

mikkowilson 05-26-2011 01:37 AM

Membership purchased online takes 48 hours. I chose not to wait and risk a sellout; so I just purchased the tickets at full price. (Members get a discount on both of the TWO events at JBL that day).

As I mentioned above; JBL is 191 seats. That's not very big; and for a star headlined event like this; that's nothing.

Not sure If I'll get a membership for all the other fun stuff they are offering. I figured I'd ask the rest of the group here about that first.

Didn't I tell ya'all? ;) (No, not really.)

Well, of course: Ticket purchased.

mikkowilson 05-26-2011 02:23 AM

Aaron, to both events, or just one?

- Mikko

Ghaziya 05-26-2011 02:23 AM

I purchased my panel tickets yesterday  .... didn't go with the membership option because I had no idea of all of the Saturday morning member's benefits that were offered. :P It sure sounds tempting though!

Just the Actors' Experience, although if I can work out the timing, I'll try to do both. I'll probably buy the Pandora ticket anyway and just hope I can figure things out. :D

misstammie 05-26-2011 03:58 AM

I just purchased the Avatar: the Actor's Experience but decided not to do the membership. It would have been nice but I feel I would get more enjoyment with the actor's panel instead. I can WAIT for this one!! HELL YEAH!!! :D

James of terra 05-26-2011 04:21 AM

where did you buy that ticket??

Ok, maybe I am a "Skxawng" here, just a question I purchased the actor's experience but do I also have to pay for the "actual exhibition" separately and where do I find the link for that? Or does the actor's experience include the exhibition as well? Irayo for any info on that. ;):)

mikkowilson 05-26-2011 05:14 AM

I'd guess the exhibition is different.

- Mikko

Alan 05-26-2011 05:51 AM

Kaltxi folks - Wow a flurry of activity here :)

I must admit I was a bit miffed when I found out we would not be able to get into the exhibition until 12:00, especially when we have all travelled so far to be there. Paying $50 for an extra 3 hours seems a bit excessive when we will probably not be visiting again. Having seen the morning activities for 'members' they do seem more family orientated.

But, hey ho. At least the panel discussions make up for that. I must say Irayo to CyanRachel who purchased my panel tickets at the same time as hers. Irayo ma tsmuke :hi:

Well, not long now until I take to my Ikran and start my adventure to you land. Just one day at work to go...talking of which I must dash!

Kiyevameeee.....

mikkowilson 05-26-2011 06:30 AM

Are there going to be any more e-mail news-letters?
I for one wouldn't mind some for of "last things" e-mail with latest details, and perhaps a general schedule of what's going on all in one place.

And it probably wouldn't hurt to get the word out to everyone about those panel discussions ASAP.

- Mikko

James of terra 05-26-2011 06:36 AM

who is going to both , or 1 or none of the panels???

Aketuan 05-26-2011 07:21 AM

Ok, wow a lot has happened here. I bought my tickets yesterday a while back. Here is the official report from Kristen at the SFM

"I am have some very exciting news for you – we are about to announce our opening day panels and I wanted to send the info your way first! Here they are!

Avatar: the Actors’ Experience
Join us for a star-studded insider look into the making of James Cameron’s Avatar with principal cast members Michelle Rodriguez (Trudy Chacon), Giovanni Ribisi (Parker Selfridge), CCH Pounder (Mo’at), and Laz Alonso (Tsu’tey). Hear from the actors themselves what it was like to act in a virtual world, utilizing new filmmaking technologies, and be a part of the highest-grossing movie of all time. Exhibition curator Brooks Peck will lead the intimate discussion with the actors and take questions from the audience.

$40 EMP members, $50 general admission for Avatar: The Actors’ Experience. Tickets available at Brownpapertickets.

3:00 PM
Pandora: The Creation of a New World
Dive into the vivid world of James Cameron’s Avatar. From alien landscapes and magnificent bioluminescent creatures, to the rich Na’vi culture and the groundbreaking technical advancements that made it all possible, this discussion will look at the many facets of creating Avatar and the process of translating decades of vision into big-screen blockbuster magic. Here to share their insights will be, Yuri Bartoli (Virtual Art Director), Terry Notary (Movement Choreographer), and Glenn Derry (Virtual Production Supervisor), moderated by exhibition curator Brooks Peck.

$15 EMP members, $20 general admission for Pandora: The Creation of a New World. Tickets available at Brownpapertickets.

I would like to encourage memberships of course, because they will lower the ticket cost for these events and as I mentioned before, get you into the exhibit earlier. There are only 180 seats in our theater, so it will be a pretty amazing experience! Please spread the word!

Best,
Kristen"

Anyway, I think all of us should buy the panel tickets ASAP and NOT buy membership seeing as most people think this is the way to go.

I will be sending out a newsletter tomorrow detailing the panels and all of the final info.

James of terra 05-26-2011 07:29 AM

I just bought both ticket for the panel, are we going to have time to go thru the musume????

mikkowilson 05-26-2011 08:48 AM

Hell Yeah.

And there's always Sunday also. :)

Hi Guru Kevin ~ thanks for posting this for eveyone and for preparing one last newsletter for us. Outstanding job ... as usual.;)
I posted the panel information on our Avatar Wiki yesterday and was so excited that I could barely type.

Hi Traveling Alan ~ see you at the airport. Safe journey!

Yes! (Emphasizing this detail.) Of course, make sure you order your own ticket before spreading the word! I suspect that these tickets will be gone by tomorrow.

Niri´te 05-26-2011 07:34 PM

Hi all,
The member events on June 4 do not include the panels, they are separately ticketed events!

See you there!

Alan 05-26-2011 09:56 PM

Wow, a flurry of activity!

Well, my bags are packed and tomorrow I start my adventure to New York and Seattle to say Kaltxi to my Avatar friends. :hi:

No doubt I'll be posting along the way, hopefully. Safe journey everyone.

Sorry you could not make it ma tsumukan :( Hope your exams are going well though. It'll be worth it. Besides, who knows there might be an Avatar Con next year..

Well I've started my adventure and am currently on the train shown below on my way to London.

Well made it to London St Pancras and a load of Eurostar trains bound for the channel tunnel.

Had a bit of a walk to get to the 'piccadilly' service on the underground. It's like a rabbit warren! Anyway after an hour's ride I arrived at Heathrow airport. I've just checked in and will shortly be going up to departures. Here's another piccie:

Mika 05-27-2011 05:38 PM

Ok .. srry i haven't been able to keep up todate on where everything is at .. irl intervenes, :P

So my parents and I are pulling out Monday Morning .. (-6hrs GMT) ... I've tried going through all these posts, but still a bit confused as what the whole schedule is for the weekend, and extra days?

We should be in Seattle by June 2nd .. and i will be staying at a campground just on the edges of Seattle .. but they have good transport services into the city including the Museum.

Basically .. my parents are on their own .. and I'm with all of you, the group, and activities .. excpet that i might have missed out on the Panel stuff? :(

Is there a more recent Newsletter than the April 24th one?

And/or can someone post me the link, send me a pm or, post the summation.

I'm so looking forward to meeting all of you!

:)

Aaron 05-27-2011 05:50 PM

Hi Mika:

I'm a bit mystified by the overall schedule too, but then my own schedule is a disaster, so I'm just rollin' with it (haven't paid really close attention as a result).

FWIW, tickets to the panels are, as of this AM, still for sale:
Avatar: the Actors' Experience
Pandora: The Creation of a New World

Ghaziya 05-27-2011 09:04 PM

Hi .... I don't think that anything is written in stone yet except the Saturday opening day festivities and our clan dinner on Sunday evening.

My impression is that all those who want to do things as a group will plan their activities together once we are there .... and whomever wants to go it on their own can do their thing. I'm thinking that most of us will want to be together as much as possible .... hell yeah!

Aketuan has been covered with school and work lately and I know he plans on getting the next newsletter out as soon as possible .... with all of the latest information .... he will also send a separate PM to all confirmed attendees that will give contact cell phone numbers so we can hook up once we are there. Mika, make sure he has your contact number.

Whatever happens once we get there will be like opening a beautiful gift .... we will be surprised and delighted and grateful.

Kaltxi, James!

Actually, I was thinking this too, and here's a suggestion: Since the 1st panel is at 12:30 and the 2nd panel is at 3:00 (or 3:30 -- forget now which), we can use the time in between panels (roughly an hour and a half?) to go through the exhibit. I think that could work, since we won't be getting in there until 12:00 and a half hour wouldn't be long enough (before 12:30) to see the entire exhibit (at least not leisurely), but we should have enough time to go through the exhibit btw the panels...at least I hope so.

And Irayo for the updates/reports on your traveling progress, Alan! See you in a few days in NYC...

I kept hoping that your schedule would work out so you would be able to join us. Really wanted to meet you. Very sad, very sad only. :(

We are planning to have some conversations about a future con while we are in Seattle .... send mega good energy in our direction so that we will come away with some great ideas. Oh yeah, we will be sure and volunteer you for lots of con committees. :)

We will miss you.:'(

James of terra 05-28-2011 02:05 AM

Well count down to great times coing to a close, Have a safe trip all and look forward in seeing you all.

Fiyerwall 05-28-2011 04:36 AM

Hello again! If it's ok with everyone, I'm going to go ahead and email the shuttle express and put in a reservation to take us to and from the restaurant and our hotel. It's going to equal out to $23 per person and we can pay the driver upon arrival. I just want to make sure that everyone has that worked into their trip budget 'cause I know most of my budget is going toward the clan meal and as much stuff as I can carry from the museum giftshop. :D

Mika 05-28-2011 12:45 PM

YES! I have tickets to the Panel, just ordered them this morning! I am so excited! I thought i had missed out on this!

Um quick question .. is everyone going to the exhibt museum on both days? or just on June 4th .. i still need to order the museum tickets .. and just want to confirm before i go ahead?

mikkowilson 05-28-2011 03:30 PM

I was planing on getting museum tickets there in person. There was talk of maybe the city pass (that includes the museum), but that's still in the air until the schedule it set; something that will happen there in person.

-

Fiyerwall, yeah go ahead and order the shuttle.
Also, I don't recall; how do we pay for the clan dinner? and what's our share?
Or is it a pot-luck? ... in which case I need to find a source for Teylu down here in Oregon.

-

IT'S SO CLOSE! I'm so excited!
My trip already started Thursday when I flew down from Juenau, Alaska to Portland, Oregon where I'm spending a few days of vacation first. (Hehe, My wife's reaction was great when I got here: "What's with the tube?" "My bow." "Seriously?!". I suspect an intervention when I get home from Seattle.)

Out on the road, my connectivity is limited; (And my laptop is literally dying in my hands [maybe i should just go to the BestBuy around the corner a buy a new one.. with a BD drive :-P ). But I'ver got good e-mail connection on my phone. So that's a good way to ping me.

For the clan meal, since there are so many of us, we will get one check with gratuity included. Then we just pitch in what we owe.

Alan 05-29-2011 01:39 PM

Kaltxi friends:hi:

Well it's getting closer! I guess with us going to the two panel discussions time in the actual exhibition might be a bit tight. Maye for those who are staying a bit longer get the city passes then that will cover another visit on, say, Sunday morning before we got to the aquarium?

Glad you my updates where of interest. Last night the four of us went to an Irish pub for dinner just off Times Square, which was just as busy. I managed to get a bit of video on my phone and do a quick edit! Amazing technology you can get in these things. Anyway here's the link hope it works ok.
